Anyone watched it? Not sure about it, but will watch next one. The affair with the sandwich woman got very irritating, all that humping and heaving! Also could not believe he would bring her to live at his house and put his own kids at risk, with her psycho partner around.

I think Sandwich Lady faked the attack in her home by her partner. I don't think he was there at all. When her son came out of the bathroom, he didn't look traumatised or upset, but just said "Can I go back to bed now?" like she just got him out of bed to sit in the bathroom till Greg came and 'rescued' her. I think she is manipulating him and just wanted to be rescued.

And is the wife perhaps gay? Or was that what we are supposed to believe?

I can understand why Greg is angry, but he does seem very, very angry and I wonder if that is part of why his wife left. Though why leave the kids?

I watched it.. agree with some of the above comments, also wondered if it was a fake attack.
Did wonder about the ex wife being gay too.

Will be tuning in for the next episode..

Do you think he'd meant to have had a vasectomy but hadn't? With the whole pregnancy stick thing in the trailer for next weeks.

Yes, that's a good point about the little boy just looking a bit bored. Brenna was so annoying when she got drunk and said ridiculous things to the teenagers. She is really odd.

Loved it!! My DP's ex wife left him and their 2 children 4 years ago, so will be interesting to see how this pans out

I gave up on it after he decided to take Brenna home with him. It was too much on top of realising she'd probably faked the attack.

And the bit about well you sleep in my bed, and I have a Zbed your DS can sleep in in my sons room was nonsensical. All together far to much far to soon.

It certainly has me hooked. Chris Ecclestone certainly has a passable Norn Irish accent.

His irrational behaviour regarding the sandwich lady may be a clue to his personality. Certainly the memories of his wife seems implausibly rosy tinted, especially compared to the snippet regarding the pregnancy test. Because it was clear he lied to her possibly about getting the snip. And this is Northern Ireland so the wife would have to arrange an abortion in the UK.

Intriguing. I shall certainly keep watching it.

was funny with the internet date and they ended up discussing the bins!

He is so angry isnt he? is this why she left - plus how they make him look younger then older is well done. I had a friend in the 70s whose mum left her and her 3 other siblings. the dad didnt really cope that well either. Its rare, i imagine, but women do walk out as well without the children.

I felt sorry for his son when she was asking him about the tics and facial expressions - she seems to lack a lot of empathy and is one of those drunks who think its funny to take the mickey out of people. she is obviously different to his ex.

Brenna is clearly a liar and attention seeker.
Greg is not very perceptive and lacks insight.
It would appear that he lied about contraception or otherwise coerced his wife resulting in an unplanned pregnancy.
Wife might be in a new relationship with a woman.

I watched this with DH who did not notice any of the above.
This means that he will be asking me to explain everything henceforth as the story unfolds.

Yes I think she got pregnant when she/they thought he'd had a vasectomy. Perhaps it just didn't work though?

I thought the fact she couldn't sit next to him at the counsellor's office was telling. She really couldn't stand being anywhere near him. And he just didn't, or wouldn't, get it.

But then he did genuinely seem to want his kids to have a relationship with their mum.

DP and I liked it but actually found it upsetting in terms of the children. Too realistic! Acting and script very convincing I thought.
We were getting really annoyed with him being taken in by that woman. She definitely faked the attack.
We got upset seeing the clip of the lovely teenage girl injured next week and agreed it might be too upsetting to watch. DP clearly has hidden depths of sensitivity!

I watched it earlier on.

Don't know if it was because I had a rare child free morning so could watch it uninterrupted whilst wide awake, but I really enjoyed it.

Looking forward to next week.

watched in last night, I do like Christopher Eccleston but he was fairly aggressive about his ex wife, the camera showed a couple of times him grabbing her by the wrist.
odd that she would leave her children but she felt like she was drowning and the last child was obviously not intended.

Lying about a vasectomy was what I thought as well. The wife obviously thought her time of looking after small children was over with her other children being nearly grown up and couldn't handle it.

I enjoyed , agree his accent was very good .
Also like pp thought the attack was fake and Brenna was an idiot when drunk .
I was leaning towards the ex wife being gay but am sure there is much more as well.
The poor teenage daughters face in next episode clip.

I enjoyed it... episode 1 was definitely tailored to you feeling sorry for him and thinking she is cold hearted, but episode 2 is going to show us his dark side I think. Him bringing back Brenna was annoying, I would have been gutted to find my dad in bed with another woman as a little girl. Nothing wrong with him having fun elsewhere though!
