Anyone watched it? Not sure about it, but will watch next one. The affair with the sandwich woman got very irritating, all that humping and heaving! Also could not believe he would bring her to live at his house and put his own kids at risk, with her psycho partner around.

Noooo! He's called Barmy Brenna back.

Neither of them wants their DC much, do they.

JustDanceAddict · 10/04/2018 21:43

NOt sure who I hate more in this!!

Mellodrama · 10/04/2018 21:55

Fummmmmmmmmmmmiiiiinnnngggggg!!! Angry

FuckingMerlot · 10/04/2018 21:59

"I thought having another child would calm her down"

Shock Shock Shock

LittleMissLonesome · 10/04/2018 22:02

Really enjoyed that episode. But, now feel very sad - no winners as the mother stated.

FuckingMerlot · 10/04/2018 22:06

I just don't understand the judgement - definitely needed the Court's reasoning. Grrrrrrrr. Haven't felt this annoyed about an ending to a mini-series in a long time.

Mellodrama · 10/04/2018 22:09

Still left confused as to why Marie walked out on kids...

LMX0 · 10/04/2018 22:11

Anyone else a bit disappointed in the ending? And feel there is still questions that need answering? And honestly what sort of man keeps a woman like that in his home when having her there was effecting his chances of keeping his kids!! And personally if I was the other woman i would have left

SelenaMeyer2016 · 10/04/2018 22:11

I thought this was so good.

It now makes sense why he moved Brenna in as well - he needed a women in the home. Any one would do!

So sad but also very good plot line about the vasectomy. I can imagine that scenario being very suffocating for any woman in that position. Also a termination wouldn’t have been an option in NI based on him just lying about having the vasectomy.

Couldn’t quite work out her mum though...

LMX0 · 10/04/2018 22:14

@SelenaMeyer2016 makes sense why he kept her there too!!!

Clawdy · 10/04/2018 22:23

I see why she left. But not why she wanted no contact with her children, that was never explained.

Batmanthedude · 10/04/2018 22:30

Thought it was a pretty non ending. It left holes that could have had answers, I understand why she left but waiting 13 months before bothering with custody lying about having kids at all. He was an arse. Just felt unended

LanaorAna2 · 10/04/2018 22:33

The whole thing was quite realistic, in that neither of the parents was much cop and the judge was a bit of an idiot.

Apart from that, I didn't believe in any of the characters except Eccleston's indignation and anguish, which rang very true.

Clawdy · 10/04/2018 22:36

The flashbacks to the wedding looked rather ridiculous, those wigs! Should have shown them from a distance, in soft focus.

OP posts:
Gwenhwyfar · 10/04/2018 23:05

Yes, the flashbacks were a bit silly.

EachandEveryone · 10/04/2018 23:39

The ending was a huge let down i dont see how it can be viewed any other way. The acting was fantastic but that's all. Why she was still on the scene after everything she had done is beyond me.

MissEliza · 11/04/2018 09:02

I liked the ending. I just felt too much was crammed into one episode. I understood Marie a bit better but the reasons why she didn't see the kids weren't fully explained apart from her dm referring to a 'breakdown'.

Yamayo · 11/04/2018 12:08

On balance I can see why they gave her the children back.
I think lying about the vasectomy and getting her pregnant to 'calm her down' would have sealed it.
I'm surprised they didn't bring up the fact the he broke into her house.

Interesting that he asked her to stay out of the kids' lives once he moved Brenna in.
He was ultimately a shit dad- hardly protective of his kids well-being when a 5 year old finds a stranger naked in bed with her dad.
When stranger (with violent ex) moves in days later, gets drunk and verbally abused his children, has loud sex in the house etc. At no point were either of them sensitive to the children's needs.

Marie wasn't much better though. But it felt like she was trying to her her life back together.

Yamayo · 11/04/2018 12:10

I think she didn't see her kids because Greg would have used their contact as an excuse to drag her back.
Look what happens when he finds out Laura sees her. And their interaction at the lawyer's office in the first episode.
He wants things 'back to the way they were.

MissEliza · 11/04/2018 13:00

Does anyone think they'll be a second series? I'd like to see what happens to Greg and Brenna.
Did anyone else notice Liam's face twitching while he was being interviewed by the psychologist? That's quite a piece of acting!

Cagliostro · 11/04/2018 15:13

I thought it was a good series overall, even if I am now thinking WTF (particularly at those flashbacks. It reminded me of the teenage Benjamin Button - cringe)

Brenna just made me so mad but it is good contrast to see a victim who can also be a horrible person. And I like that both parents were in the wrong. The vasectomy is awful though and good point about the abortion not being so possible over there. Horrible.

I cried at the bit where Greg found out Laura wasn’t his though (blaming hormones)

eloisesparkle · 11/04/2018 15:24

I agree re Liam's twitch MissEliza - I thought Liam was a great actor.
There were no winners. As so often happens in real life. And children are damaged too.
I'm not from NI, but my grandparents are and I thought Christopher Eccleston's accent was very good.

MissEliza · 11/04/2018 15:57

The whole cast were great. That's why I'd like to see a second series. Seeing Liam twitch made me sad because so often people assume young lads just bounce back and they also find it harder to express their emotions.

Cleebope2 · 12/04/2018 00:00

Anthony Boyle as Liam, definitely a rising star that lad, brilliant in everything he does. I enjoyed this series very much, it totally engaged me and every character had good and bad traits bar wee Molly. All a bit selfish but also wanting love.

BitOfFun · 12/04/2018 00:03

I liked Brenna, on the whole. I think the way they portrayed all the characters as nuanced and human was very good, actually. Very realistic.
