This looks good - A new 4 part murder mystery thriller with an interesting cast, Nicola Walker, Carrey Mulligan, Billie Piper and Jon Simm. Is anybody planning to watch?

My husband asked me if the rape scene would stand up in court as she let him in and didn’t say no.

I said context was everything and it was clearly under duress. He agreed but would it be rape in court?

So we both agreed it was rape but we couldn’t quite say why....

ReelingLush18 · 21/02/2018 12:19

Did the CO force himself on Sandrine because he's got leverage, with knowing about the 'burner' phone dodginess? Knowing that she wouldn't risk reporting him.

WhirlwindHugs · 21/02/2018 20:57

I suppose he effectively blackmailed her, and yes definitely rape, she clearly didn't want to.

I quite often want the CPS to comment on storylines like this, but I suppose if they did it would give rapist clues about how to get away with it.

colouringinagain · 23/02/2018 20:52

I'm seriously confused!

Polarbearflavour · 26/02/2018 18:44

Is Carey’s character meant to be pregnant?

I’m trying to figure out why Sandrine is the assassin and is she being paid or what? CO is obviously horrible. Not a great advert for army life!

MissMary0fSweden · 26/02/2018 21:59

Annoying tv drama cliches this week;

Naked tits and arse shots, although I guess the fact that Sandrine stood brazenly at the window was deliberate.

Standard 'camera shot of female soldier walking' (filmed from behind the neck- harmless, but once you've clocked this once you notice it all the time!)

Exotic dancers as background in the club.

Apart from that I'm still enjoying it.

CoolCarrie · 26/02/2018 22:03

Well, it’s all coming together now, thank goodness!

Mrsmadevans · 26/02/2018 23:19

Am really enjoying this . I want her to kill the bastard who raped her . Funny that l feel greatly for her even though she is a murderer !

Mrsmadevans · 26/02/2018 23:24

The nakedness was unnecessary imho unless it was to show how far gone in the head she was . I still don't think it added anything . She has a magnificent figure though , very toned and athletic yet feminine and soft despite being a soldier. I am too involved in this lol!

Charley50 · 26/02/2018 23:31

Love watching the tightly wound soldier. Didn't really need to see her breasts though.
Politician took a risk going mental at Billy Piper in public.

ToffeeUp · 27/02/2018 08:06

It is coming together indeed but I thought the MI5 guy running the people smuggling was a bit convenient, predictable.

Not sure why Billie Piper and John Simm are in the show, apart from the regular pizza order, their characters seem unneccessary.

ReelingLush18 · 27/02/2018 13:21

It is coming together indeed but I thought the MI5 guy running the people smuggling was a bit convenient, predictable. I didn't take it to be that he's the people smuggling boss - rather than 'Burna' is a spy working for MI5 which is why she met with him - to tell him that she's in danger of being 'outed', as Westbourne is suspicious of her?

AlishaMary · 27/02/2018 13:35

Yes I couldn’t work out whether MI5 bloke was bent or if the woman was one of his legit agents. I’m assuming the latter.

Yes could have done without the bare breasts and arse

I’m assuming Billy Piper is more involved in the drugs thing than we realise? Otherwise yes what is the point of her and John Simm.

I just thought it was so, so sad when Sandrine’s mother said she didn’t want her to come back home Sad

Still loving it but I have a suspicion that all will be revealed next week and I won’t have a clue what’s actually happened Grin

WhirlwindHugs · 27/02/2018 14:26

I think Billie saw/knows something and has been paid off. If she had lots of cash after the shooting police might have found it, it's only turned up now. So probably not planned on her part.

ReelingLush18 · 27/02/2018 15:29

WhirlwindHugs Think you're right. Didn't John Simm's character ask the ex where she'd got the money from to gamble? Although if she's been bought off couldn't she potentially be another 'loose end' (of which there are many!).

Westbourne has clearly played Sandrine with the line that the first victim was a terrorist? Feeling desperately for her on all sorts of levels (not least her mother's total failure to give her emotional support) despite her 'ruthless killer' role in the plot.

WhirlwindHugs · 27/02/2018 16:22

Sandrine has been horribly played.

Mrsmadevans · 27/02/2018 17:48

Yes she has totally been played and it looks like she is going to be killed or she will kill the rapist bastard then herself. Have enjoyed it immensely.

FawnDrench · 27/02/2018 18:53

Still very much enjoying this.

Sandrine is like a very very tightly coiled spring and there are several potential detonators - just don't know which one will set her off.
She's just so paranoid now, while at the same time trying very hard to keep it all together.
She is slowly losing touch with reality I think, and her descent into this horrible place she's now in has been very skilfully portrayed.
Brilliant acting by Jeany Spark.

I couldn't really make out what was on the phone video of the boat and what actually happened?
Can anybody enlighten me please?

ChickenVindaloo2 · 27/02/2018 20:09

Can't believe that's Carey Mulligan!
Usually she's so young and pretty, she looks distinctly average and middle-aged here. Funny what a crap hair-do and horrid clothes can do.

she's 2 years younger than me and looks like she could be my mother.

Arkengarthdale · 27/02/2018 20:13

The way Sandrine walks is driving me potty. She's neither marching nor just walking. It looks so forced and unnatural. And she does it everywhere she goes, even just walking out of the room. Squaddies never march everywhere. Walk in step all the time yes but not march.

They always get the army stuff so wrong when it's so easy to get right. Why is she never in civvies, just always in uniform? Why do they salute when not wearing headdress? Why do some salute her and not others? (The guy who let her out of the gate).

Like how well the actor plays so tightly wound, so tightly controlled

ChickenVindaloo2 · 27/02/2018 20:30

I reaaaaallllly want a pizza...

AlishaMary · 27/02/2018 20:33

Any special toppings ChickenVindaloo2? Grin

ChickenVindaloo2 · 27/02/2018 20:38

Yeah, lots of special toppings!!!! Grin

And a pack of 10 Benson & Hedges which I can smoke in an affected manner.

And a side-order of smug lefty politician and nippy au pair.

ChickenVindaloo2 · 27/02/2018 20:41

It's a bit like Doctor Foster eh, how folk always leave their curtains open to drink wine at home when it's pitch black and there's someone hiding in the bushes outside.

Battleax · 27/02/2018 23:23

And a pack of 10 Benson & Hedges which I can smoke in an affected manner.

A ten pack is more illegal than heroin now Smile
