cant wait

i enjoyed s1, tho was full of twists and if i rem correctly it was a confusing end

we weren't sure if she killed /tried to kill henry with a bag over his head

but we had proof it was him due to the bite mark on his shoulder

or something like that

the first series is on demand sowill re watch the last episode to refresh memory

It stopped me.

Mainly because the scriptwriters have gone for mad genius/shock values instead of intelligible storylines and explanations.

They can have all the clichés for breakfast, lunch and tea. I don't want them in my drama. And I could do without the shock-values-for-the-sake-of-it as well.

Marcella can wide leg walk herself off over the horizon.

futuristic1 · 01/03/2018 17:33

I'll stick with it because, despite the bonkersness, I still find Marcella quite charismatic, I want to watch her, to see what she'll do.

There is a problem though, for the viewer, with so much paedophile stuff, in that I find my 'point of view' as a viewer is too tightly controlled by the producers/director/writer.

I have no choice with which characters I can sympathise or identify with. When everyone other character is a paedo - that's it - there's no room for the viewer to make their own mind up. There's no room for 'my mind' really at all.

It's a shame - it helps a drama if the viewer can be a bit more conflicted.

louise5754 · 05/03/2018 09:04

I'm still watching however what's the angry skin head got to do with it? I though the baby's mum was his sister but now I think it's his girlfriend. With his temper issues they want you to assume he will hurt the baby I think x

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/03/2018 14:03

Agree the mouse was unecessary :(

Wasn’t sure if was sister or gf

But then he said about not being able to do things with his child - not pick up from school etc

Couldn’t imagine having a child with a pead as would always be that fear and never leave them alone with their dad

It’s prob too obvious to be him or Neil from young ones

Maybe the manager who is exploiting workers

Got confused with the lady with small baby and then meeting what was her brother in the park

On tonight

Let’s see what it brings

louise5754 · 05/03/2018 15:27

I thought I recognised him

Crispbutty · 05/03/2018 21:17

Anyone watching?

CarrieBradshawsScrunchie · 05/03/2018 21:29

Yes and I still don’t know who the guy in the blue suit and the woman in the yellow blouse are!

Crispbutty · 05/03/2018 22:03

Well that was a pretty shit episode

Crispbutty · 05/03/2018 22:04

And now going to watch the last episode of collateral which is slightly less confusing

Poppiesway1 · 05/03/2018 22:10

What happened in the last few mins? My sky box decided Marcella was clashing with the start off the walking dead and turned Marcella off Angry I saw from boy getting in car (do we think that’s his captor??) to the paed sitting in his car...
did I miss something crucial in this few minutes??

Blondeshavemorefun · 05/03/2018 22:47

Guy in blue suit owns firm and does Zero hour contracts

Wife is in yellow blouse who went to party alone last week

Skinhead brother works there

Preg lady I assume lost her baby :( and paed bloke is now watching Marcella son

Boy managed to escape but I think his captor May be driving as surely if you saw a child run out of wood you would stop the car and get out

Wondering if it is Neil from young ones

Still a bloody tough watch, although I enjoy playing spot the ex Eastenders actor (the guy in the wheelchair was Adam). Baffled as to why the boys mum was in the first episode but hasn't reported her son missing, did she die or go on holiday and I missed it.

cheesydoesit · 06/03/2018 12:25

Yeah, it's definately Neil, Neil, orange peel. I think the boy's mum did mention going away for work and that's why he had to stay with his useless dad who I assume has not reported him missing. Is the boy's dad also the father of the skinhead's niece? I think they had a confrontation in episode one. Oh and Jason is such a fucking bellend. I really want things to go tits up for him. Argh, he makes me so angry.

louise5754 · 06/03/2018 14:10

Hi. If the man had gone to jail for abusing kids surely they wouldn't let them keep the baby?

Rollergirl11 · 06/03/2018 15:43

I don’t think it’s Nigel Planner. He’s not switched on enough to perform the surgery. I think it could be Keith Allen.

I don’t know what the connection is with half the characters. What does angry skinhead guy have to do with anything? Is the girl with the baby that works as a nurse his girlfriend? I also don’t know what the bloke from This Life who owns the factory and his wife who runs the charity who is having it off with Marcella’s boss have to do with anything.

There’s too many different strands going on and I bet it’s not explained. Also watching Save Me at the moment and it’s so much better than Marcella.

cheesydoesit · 06/03/2018 15:53

Oh I misunderstood, I meant its definately the same actor. I don't think he is part of the child murders but I reckon he and Keith Allen probably murdered a girl years ago.

Blondeshavemorefun · 06/03/2018 19:58

Plus the patient the caree looks after

He’s had surgery and can’t speak And didn’t went the nurses to know he was communication via his finger movement

So he was abducted

OP posts:
juneau · 07/03/2018 12:20

Yeah the guy in the wheelchair was an early victim, which if he was a DC at the time makes the abductor much older than angry man who just got fired. Keith Allen is dodgy, definitely, Nigel Planer is just his dupe.

My heart was in my mouth last night for the boy in the house trying to escape. I was just going 'Run!', but it makes sense that the guy in the car is the captor, because otherwise surely he'd have run after him and caught him, as he was going so slowly.

I'm bummed that Tim is a cheater. Marcella is nuts, but I thought he was a decent guy up until last night.

TheVeryThing · 07/03/2018 12:33

I wish i was enjoying this series but I'm not, will probably persevere as it's something dh and I watch together. The abuse and murder of children is just too much.
Also, too many cliches and too many men who all look very similar (Tim, the convicted paedophile, Victoria Smurfit's husband).
Will keep watching for her wardrobe of lovely knitwear and in the hope that Jason gets his comeuppance.

BringMeTea · 07/03/2018 13:44

Are we supposed to think that Edward killed baby Juliet?

MrsPreston11 · 07/03/2018 14:04

Yes BringMeTea that's what I was thinking. He did it, and she covered it up, and has now blocked it out.

The closer this all gets tot he end of the series the more I'm assuming it must be Keith Allen.

Or they could go random (like S1) and make it the charity woman or something. Let's not forget that police computer guy is spying on Marcella....what will come of that?

BringMeTea · 07/03/2018 14:37

Well if creepy son did kill his baby sister surely there cannot be a series 3? Marcella needs retiring on health grounds.

FawnDrench · 07/03/2018 15:36

I think we're meant to suspect Keith Allen because Nigel Planer (Reg) said "I missed you in Belgrade" which presumably refers to the first body in the wall, the friend of Edward, and the tour they were on at the time.
Marcella has asked for airline info at the time of their alibi and she has stated that someone could easily have flown back from the tour.

Is this a massive red herring though?

Or are there 2 subversive "plots" - the paedophile angle and the witchcraft/Salem plotline with lobotomy and abdominal symbol insertion?

Also, I suspect the factory owner - he's always coming and going - and what was the tape of the boxer he was watching then he suddenly got up and pointedly picked up his coat? Who was the boxer - I couldn't work it out.

And why have they introduced that Jane a bit more this week - must be a reason for this - she seems to be developing a bit of a friend-type relationship with Marcella.
And she's the mother of Edwards "girlfriend" - or was it just to tell Marcella about the rat?

I definitely think Edward is suspect on many levels and that the young actor who plays him does a great line in seething resentment and he has a dark, sinister on-screen presence.

All clear as mud, and of course it could be someone we've not met yet as it's 8 episodes long and this week was number 3.

colouringinagain · 07/03/2018 22:09

Watching it now, seriously creepy!!!!!! really hope he escapes!!!

colouringinagain · 07/03/2018 22:12

Not sure I can face 5 more episodes!!!
