Anyone else looking forward to this? The writer also wrote the recent Robbie Coltrane drama, National Treasure, and Sarah Lancashire is always superb.

"the only true way to protect her." I'm not sure that seems very realistic!

What seems to be missing here is that foster parents are put through a process to assess them and they do seem very dysfunctional - how did they get through that proccess!

I don't think it can be the foster mum or dad, as both believe it may be their son!

Strangling is such a specific crime, well to me, it seems to be. Not something that could be done by accident.

In Agatha Christies' it is always the least likely person, at the moment the least likely person is the Granddad, so my money is on him! But actually I don't think he did it either!

Clawdy · 26/01/2018 09:48

We don't know if Kiri actually went back into the foster family house that day, do we? Just that she got the bus home.

Italiangreyhound · 26/01/2018 09:52

"What was wrong with the deleted photo - why delete that one?" I don't know, it just showed the two kids goofing off.

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 26/01/2018 11:46

In National Treasure, the outcome was actually the most obvious ie Robbie Coltrane's character was guilty

Er, thanks!

CeciliaMiddleton · 26/01/2018 12:09

Wasn't a huge fan of the first episode even though reviews were great: www.culturewhisper.com/r/tv/kiri_channel_4_review/10861

Has it gotten any better?

outcrops · 26/01/2018 13:23

I still think it’s young social worker - seems a bit of a pointless aside otherwise. I’m thinking maybe she and si were sleeping together.

Possibly a bit far fetched.

Also still think nosebleed features so I think kiri got upset and met YSW who she recognised (maybe having seen her with Miriam). She had a nosebleed and ysw freaked out rather than being kind and matter of fact about it a la Miriam. So kiri hits ysw and she loses it after suffering abuse from other clients and strangled her

BashStreetKid · 26/01/2018 18:45

I thought FM deleted the photo because she thought it showed more than a brother/sister relationship between Si and Kiri. There were also clear implications of incest in his pulling the towel off his mother, and the father saying he didn't like the way Si sometimes looked at her.

Arkengarthdale · 26/01/2018 18:58

The son also commented on his mother in the shower "nothing I haven't seen before" which I thought was a bit yuk. They're all horrible to each other

Italiangreyhound · 26/01/2018 20:02

"Has it gotten any better?"

We are 20 pages in and debating like mad, so YES.

Italiangreyhound · 26/01/2018 20:03

@outcrops this I'd most plausible so far.

Italiangreyhound · 26/01/2018 20:05

@BashStreetKid but I think the incestial implications ate mum and son a la Oedipus not brother and sister.

dogsdinnerlady · 27/01/2018 09:49

Lia Williams is getting rave reviews in the theatre in a play about Mary Stuart. She is a Very Serious Actress so not sure what she's doing in this.

southeastdweller · 27/01/2018 09:50

Money to pay her bills, perhaps?

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 27/01/2018 12:32

Well she is bloody good in this so I’m glad she is!!

wrimad · 27/01/2018 12:46

As an aside - is National Treasure worth watching even if I now know the ending?

LillianGish · 27/01/2018 13:06

National Treasure is definitely worth watching and don’t be so sure you know the ending based on what’s been written on here (no more spoilers please).

wrimad · 27/01/2018 13:09

Thanks!

HouseOfMouse · 27/01/2018 15:54

I'd also recommend National Treasure - I thought it was outstanding. Even if you "know" the ending, that shouldn't spoil it for you because it is not a whodunnit as such. It's much more about the complex relationships and personalities involved in the story. The writing is excellent - it doesn't spoon feed and give you easy answers, but treats the audience like grown ups, which unfortunately is quite rare these days.

purpleme12 · 27/01/2018 16:24

Majestic whine that link doesn't work

Megsmcgoo · 27/01/2018 16:37

I've just watched all three episodes today and i love it, can't wait to see what happens on Wednesday and at the moment no idea who did it but agree with PP about something very very off with the son. Actor plays him very well!

Its also lovely seeing it in Bristol where I live Grin

Megsmcgoo · 27/01/2018 16:38

bump Blush

ArsenicNLace · 27/01/2018 16:58

Ok. I thought the photo showed son in the park where Kiri was found possibly on the day she was murdered? So she delted it because it placed him there on the day she died. If as other people said it was of Kiri as well maybe even more reason to delete?

But I could have just imagined that.

And yes the family was so dysfunctional didn't know how they got through the fostering/adoption process.

Megsmcgoo · 27/01/2018 17:30

Just realised i bumped the wrong thread! Apologies Grin

RagingWoman · 27/01/2018 17:59

Off topic a bit..
...isnt the bedroom lovely in the foster parents house?! That soft blue plus white bed and wood stuff. Very restful Smile
