Anyone else looking forward to this? The writer also wrote the recent Robbie Coltrane drama, National Treasure, and Sarah Lancashire is always superb.

That's what I'm thinking Snow.

LittlestTruck · 10/01/2018 21:42

What was that about SL character's background? They found out who she was etc

SnowFairyDust · 10/01/2018 21:48

Hmm, I've drifted off from it now, probably won't watch next week 😏

sonyaya · 10/01/2018 21:48

SPOILER

I’m lost. The GPs allowed their son to see her and it was him that took her? Have I got that right? I’m a bit lost

Arcadia · 10/01/2018 21:48

What/who did the SW see in the car behind in her rear view mirror when she was driving Child to GPs?

winchesterfan · 10/01/2018 21:50

I have a suspicion that it was the foster parents son that has killed her. After what he said about his mum saying she loved Kiri more than him

LineysRunt · 10/01/2018 21:50

Arcadia, good question.

LittlestTruck · 10/01/2018 21:50

I think it was Kiri's dad following them. I'm assuming the GP allowed him to see kiri.

SnowFairyDust · 10/01/2018 21:50

Ooh maybe... I'll watch until the end of this episode in case there's a massive cliffhanger at the end!

GoingRogue · 10/01/2018 21:50

sonyaya yup, that's how I'm seeing it.

Arcadia Sarah Lancashire saw the Foster Mum driving the car behind her when she looked in rear view mirror.

LittlestTruck · 10/01/2018 21:51

I agree fan think it will end up being the foster son or foster dad

Lottapianos · 10/01/2018 21:51

Yes sonyaya. Kiri's father is a violent offender and social care believed that he was estranged from his parents, so they allowed grandparents to have an unsupervised visit with Kiri. His parents seem to have allowed him to see Kiri and now she's dead.

GoingRogue · 10/01/2018 21:51

The spineless line manager was done well (I've had one or two of those in the past!).

I'm enjoying it.

blueskyinmarch · 10/01/2018 21:52

I think you are supposed to think the grandparents allowed her to have contact with her dad and he killed her. But that would be too obvious for a 4 parter! I also think the foster son is a red herring.

Arcadia · 10/01/2018 21:53

That's what DP said - that foster mother was behind.
I think the disciplinary meeting was very realistic in how they all behaved and what they said.

Lottapianos · 10/01/2018 21:53

I really love how this is produced. Like National Treasure, there are odd camera angles, an unsettling soundtrack and cold brittle characters who are hard to read. The actors are terrific too

DonnyAndVladSittingInATree · 10/01/2018 21:55

Arcadia Sarah Lancashire saw the Foster Mum driving the car behind her when she looked in rear view mirror.

Ahh!! And then was sitting at the junction of the grandparents road when the birth dad pulled back up in his car? So she saw him arrive. What I don’t understand is whether the grandparents allowed the Dad to see her and he fled with her or whether the girl left the house alone. It doesn’t seem clear. The grandfather said to his wife (is that Andi Osho BtW?) “we let him do that” and the wife replied “you mean me” so did she go behind her husbands back and allow the son contact? The husband made her stay in the car so he is angry with her? Also, why don’t the grandparents seem to be in trouble for allowing the son contact?

Arcadia · 10/01/2018 21:55

Yes the acting is v good and so realistic how they talk to each other at work etc, I have worked in a similar field.

buddhasbelly · 10/01/2018 21:55

Totally besides the point but could this have originally been commissioned for the BBC?

They usually use fake news reports from the organisation who he commissioned it eg having the BBC tv broadcast and radio 4 new bulletin

blueskyinmarch · 10/01/2018 22:01

I like it. Loads of things rung true from my own experience of SW management investigating things and scapegoating the social worker.

Innocentbystander01 · 10/01/2018 22:02

All I've got from watching this is stressed about her leaving that poor dog in the car all the time.

VivaLeBeaver · 10/01/2018 22:04

I think the dog did it.

Braceface · 10/01/2018 22:05

Not believable that she would have allowed unsupervised contact.

GoingRogue · 10/01/2018 22:05

VivaLeBeaver Grin

Italiangreyhound · 10/01/2018 22:06

It's very moving. I was shocked. I thought she was going to be found alive.
