Did anyone catch this this morning? Same old format and a bit boring. It is long overdue a makeover.

However, I love it

Just watched it on catch-up.

Same old deluded families living in UK 3 bed semis, but moaning that a 5 bed detached in Oz is too small. Also wanting pool, walk-in wardrobes, huge kitchen and all located next to a beach for 300K.

(I do fast forward over the family and friends videos and pause it at the affordability bit.. is it just me being nosy?!)

Same old moaning that you can’t have a family day out in the UK , I’m sure half of these people are under the illusion that in Australia you get paid full time money for working pt hours and all the leisure activities are free . I caught this mornings episode ( stuck indoors with a sick dog ) and looked up to see if there was a catch up , apparently he got offered a sponsorship job in Brisbane but the money wasn’t sufficient so they have not gone .

The eldest daughter seems to be the only one with any sense in today's family.

You know that it is January when the delusional people are back on the tv wanting a free trip to australia. I love this prog.

I prefer the Revisited part which usually follows but at least there is usually an update on the website or facebook page saying where they are now

So out of date this series. The days of selling up a semi here and converting to a massive detached house in Aus with a pool are long, long gone. I dont know why they still pretend its doable. Unless theyre both professionals there's no way. I was talking to friends of friends at an xmas party who went out 6 years ago. Shes a critical care nurse and has a good job, but he has only worked sporadically and they're trying to come back. They're in a small house thats apparently very decrepid and they cant afford to do it up.

Same with the one wjere they take them out tontry and buy a house in Portugal or Spain, I notice theres a new series of that one (forget name). Who in their right mind would buy in Europe when the Brecit thing is still so up in the air? My in laws are desperately trying to get back!

Anyone watching? This pair are getting on my nerves already.

Why did her mum go to Australia?

I thought this should be back but could not find it on iPlayer when I searched yesterday. It's a stupid show but addictive.

He seems quite nice but, along with the kids, will have to cover up all the time.

I've family who live where they're looking at. The commuting distances are huge - they never mention this.

I know a family who were on this about 3 years ago! They did the catch up program too a year later. Long story short, they're still here in UK. They couldn't afford it but still talk of doing it when the kids are older, so who knows. I know they enjoyed the experience and it was good for them to see if it was feasible.
I do find the format very boring too, especially when the family have far too high expectations for property and job market.

it's a mad programme. Why do they suddenly only think about the family when they show the video lol? Move to Spain then if you don't want to be 24 hours away!

Do you think they have a programme in Aus on people moving from Australia to the UK?!

Seems like a good way to get a free holiday to Australia to me!

It looked good financially for today's family, although they were a bit optimistic about her earning a salary for photography from the get go, I think they should have based it on his earnings only. As usual the kids were adorable and very sensible. I hate seeing kids crying over missing their extended family and friends. No big pool house or lovely beach can ever replace loving grandparents.

There's an update on today's family on facebook. Not what I was expecting.

Maybe they should do a version of 'Wanted in Blighty' featuring Polish and Romanian people who want to come to the UK before Brexit stops them. Seeing a before and after might make us appreciate what a great country we live in.

What do you reckon, tours round 3 bed semis on housing estates(homes), a shift in an NHS hospital or a field in Norfork (jobs), a trip to the beach with fish and chips on a rainy day (days out), a visit to Waitrose and a local estate agent's window to show you can't afford it (reality check) and the good old family sub-titled in at the end.

We must have some ideas between us how they could update this tired format...

Yesterday's just wanted the holiday.

I cant believe how rude some of the people are while viewing houses. Today's lady was very sneery and referred to one house, obviously owned by a young family, as 'old ladyish' and it would all need ripping out. It's someone's home! It's ok to say those things on a normal viewing with an estate agent but this goes out on tv

i know its more about families moving but would be interesting to see single or even older couple (im not sure on visa issues) for a change. didnt they use to speak to other expats when they were other there, id rather see that then showing them go to a park as its impossible to go to a park in the UK.

Anyone watching? I presumed the 'painful divorce' would be recent, not 7 years ago.

Missed the very beginning, but just saw the girl saying she wanted to stay with her dad - WHY does anyone move a young child to the other side of the world to on of their parents without the most pressing of reasons? Are there some kind of mitigating circumstances here?

Nice to see them go to a different city than the usual Auckland. I've been to Hamilton - it's a nice place.
