Surely Phelan will have to get his comeuppance by Christmas?

Mind you, I hope Anna gets sent to prison too.

I agree scrabbler it is very odd, but maybe we are wrong and the writers want to do something good for and with Gemma?! She is a very annoying character though,

Akire · 02/12/2017 18:27

Please no spoilers I don’t read mags or forums or want to know who’s leaving thanks! Don’t spoil it for the rest of us- use the spoiler thread

JeanSeberg · 02/12/2017 19:52

I've reported the spoiler post, read the title people!

thenightsky · 02/12/2017 20:32

Maybe Henry's parents want him to marry or something so Gemma is perfect to introduce as his fiancee to really rile his parents??

That is far too good and sophisticated a story line to ever cross the writers' minds sadly.

I am really enjoying the 1980s Corrie on ITV3, but am finding that I end up doing something else while current Corrie is on and I don't really watch it.

My parents were a Henry / Gemma relationship though, so not entirely unrealistic.

I wonder what will happen to the cabin now. Surely they can’t keep working there forever. It would make sense for Gemma to work there instead of kebab shop she would be on much better wage surely?

You are right about comedy and everyday stories. Remember the one when Noris kept missing a parcel? Normal stuff!

Love to see how they are getting along squished in Maria’s flat with the 5 of them.

JeanSeberg · 03/12/2017 07:07

I wish the old episodes were on itv player or repeated in the evenings, really wish I could watch them!

southeastdweller · 03/12/2017 08:57

Maybe it's not on catch up or repeat in the evening because ITV would have to pay additional repeat fees to actors and crew? Hardly anyone watches ITV3 so it's cheap for them to put it only on there.

eddiemairswife · 03/12/2017 10:43

Maria seems to have gone missing along with Leanne, Steve, Peter, Simon. I was quite surprised to see Ken the other day, and couldn't think who Eva was when she turned up,although I recognised her voice. Mind you, she was wearing a winter coat and woolly hat, unlike her usual cleavage- revealing attire.

southeastdweller · 03/12/2017 11:03

Just read of a very grim story coming up for one of the characters. I'm glad I don't watch anymore and this story won't get me back. I think Kate Oates wants to tick a box that the other soaps have.

TheStifmeister · 03/12/2017 11:29

South I have also seen that story and think I will stop watching, I have watched all my life, (47 years) what a shame Hmm

Akire · 03/12/2017 11:31

They could just get rid of Maria have her go off to the shops and just never mention her again. She’s nearly been in it for last 18m apart from offering Kirk n co a room
Said about one line in 6m

MyBeloved · 03/12/2017 13:41

I've also read about the upcoming grim storyline. I'm going to stop watching too. Its all getting too much.

Clawdy · 03/12/2017 14:00

That storyline is going to make people stop watching. They have had some harrowing themes lately, and it's time to start a re-think.

AnyFucker · 03/12/2017 14:02

Could someone pm me the upcoming grim storyline please

MyBeloved · 03/12/2017 14:29

Have pm'd you AF

eddiemairswife · 03/12/2017 14:29

Don't worry. It'll all be over in a flash, and forgotten in a week or two with everything back to normal. Look how Seb's HIV is no longer a problem, and I dare say there will be no lasting effects from Robert's loss of a testicle.

No one in the street appears to have noticed or commented on the departure of Vic Reeves and Moira, but a thought struck me that the Medical Centre is now short of a practice manager. Beth is unemployed; the ideal replacement!!

MyBeloved · 03/12/2017 14:30

Sadly, very true eddie. It's just not worth the energy any more.

AnyFucker · 03/12/2017 14:33

Thanks, MB.

I agree....too much going for the shock value. Corrie really has lost it's way.

lizzieoak · 03/12/2017 16:05

If it’s true about the upcoming grim storyline I’m backing away too. Enough already, I don’t watch Corrie for constant and extreme doom and gloom. I’ll watch up until Christmas (or up till this story starts if that’s sooner). Then I’m on a break till they sort themselves out.

I really, really hope to see on this board that they’ve noticed the falling numbers, cut back to 3 a week, and watched old episodes to regain what was best and singular about Corrie in the first place.

Clawdy · 03/12/2017 16:16

I wish I thought it would be a storyline over in a flash, but I fear they will stretch it out over weeks and weeks like the Bethany story, with lots of sombre voice overs at the end about help lines. And interviews with actors saying how important it all is.

yawning801 · 03/12/2017 16:33

Oh dear... what is Kate Oates thinking? We don't need a "tackling-issues" programme - we have enough issues to put up with in this world already! What we need is something light-hearted and funny so that for an hour every other day, we can have a bit of a laugh. Kate Oates is so high in her own estimation that she doesn't bother to listen to her viewers - or even acknowledge them - and so the whole show is going to pot. Tony Warren must be turning in his grave to see what his dream has become: a racy, depressed drama full of pre-watershed sex, constant heartbroken screaming and trashy actors/actresses.

deadringer · 03/12/2017 16:33

When oh when will they realise that grim storylines are not the way to go. Please please please corrie writers stop with the horrific stuff and bring back some good old northern warmth and humour. I have been watching for a long time too and I too feel nearly ready to give up. Just in case the writers read this thread, as pp have said, can we have less episodes, less explosive storylines, and please slow down the pace and do something about the editing, it flashes from one scene to the next at the speed of bloody light.
