Surely Phelan will have to get his comeuppance by Christmas?

Mind you, I hope Anna gets sent to prison too.

On the 80s episodes people are talking about current events and issues, without sensationalising them, and Hilda went up to Rita in the pub to talk to her about it being the third anniversary of Len's death and letting her know she was thinking about her. That would never happen now. There is no realism.

Now that we know that they haven't forgotten about the speech therapy perhaps the writers could get round to telling us the whereabouts of Vinny's mother.

Bluelonerose · 09/12/2017 00:03

I thought the writers had been reading here too Grin

The whole Gary coming back thing just seemed odd to me.

lizzieoak · 09/12/2017 00:07

Just watching (in canada) Kevin talking to Jack about going abroad to see grandad. He’s a sweet kid, and did a good job in his scene.

Eileen is driving me mad - I miss the old Eileen.

Corrie is still worth watching for the eye candy that is Adam Barlow alone! Yum! But I agree with the lack of following through on storylines, it’s very frustrating and seriously what parent, yes Tim I’m looking at you, would allow his daughter to move in with Phelan and Eileen knowing the terrible thing he has done to Anna, he did not even put up an argument just rolled over and said ok then, yes Faye dear move in with the local rapist, no problem!

myusernameisnotmyusername · 09/12/2017 09:34

Good point eddiemairswife

eddiemairswife · 09/12/2017 10:43

For goodness sake Rana and Kate, just book a hotel room for a couple of hours and put a Do Note Disturb notice on the door. And that applies to the camera crew as well; we don't need to see the details.

SymphonyofShadows · 09/12/2017 10:50

Gary could have done something useful while he was 'dead', like bludgeon Phelan to death

Akire · 09/12/2017 11:08

Exactly my thinking! Though police might need slightly more evidence of death than a mate saying ye we found his wallet. Are we missing major news reports from the UKriane who are all these people who want livethere and are in fear of their lives?

cloudyweewee · 09/12/2017 11:54

I'm really pleased that didn't drag out Sarah finding out about Gary getting Nicola up the duff. I'm watching out of a sense of duty and also because I want to see Phelan getting his comeuppance. My mom, however, who has watched Corrie from the very first episode, stopped watching when Phelan blackmailed Anna into having sex with him.

eddiemairswife · 09/12/2017 18:41

I didn't notice Gail around during Sarah's traumatic few days.

keepondreaming · 09/12/2017 18:51

@eddiemairswife I was going to say the exact same thing! She was there when the initial phone call came through, then she disappeared!

JeanSeberg · 10/12/2017 12:53

Think I missed a bit - why did Tyrone and Kirk have to meet in secret?

Are they still making those headscarf things?

JeanSeberg · 10/12/2017 13:16

Thanks smeaton for mustering the strength to explain it when you clearly have run out of fucks to give about the whole thing like a lot of us!

scrabbler3 · 10/12/2017 14:51

I want to see Phelan's comeuppance and I'm suspecting (from a few recent scenes) that Tracy and Steve will have a fling, which would be quite funny. So, I'm hanging on for another few weeks.

I've said on here that Barbara Knox is a poor actor. Having watched classic CS, I was clearly wrong. I think she's been failed by the writers.

thenightsky · 10/12/2017 14:54

Yes, I noticed that too. Barbara Knox wasn't half bad in the old episodes.

eddiemairswife · 10/12/2017 14:56

I don't think they know what to do with Rita apart from keeping her in the Kabin with Norris.

buttercupmeadow · 10/12/2017 15:31

In the past they've got rid of certain characters saying they'd "gone as far as they could go with them", which i always thought a strange excuse because you could say that about so many of them. Coronation st "royalty", such as Ken Barlow, Rita Tanner should certainly fit into that catagory but they seem to have a type of "super status" where they're considered untouchable.

eddiemairswife · 10/12/2017 15:39

Perhaps Rita and Ken could go to visit Emily.

buttercupmeadow · 10/12/2017 16:02

I used to like the scenes in the Kabin, with Rita and Mavis and then Derek. I never understood why they got rid of Derek, any scene with him and Mavis in was hilarious.

SergeantFredColon · 10/12/2017 16:07

I've stopped watching the last few weeks but saw the Gary is (not) dead episodes - why is Anna in jail??

lizzieoak · 10/12/2017 16:07

I miss Derek and Mavis too!

I find it hard to get past Rita looking that dolled up 24/7 to work in a newsagents. It is how zero newsagents look in my world.
