Anyone watching this new series by Kay Mellor?

Not a bad opening episode. I wish I knew I'd needed tissues sobs Rebecca Flack (I hope I have her name correct) is playing a good baddie.

Oh I was so annoyed when she said she was scared of being Alone, she isnt alone!

I was annoyed when Rob or whatever her work/shag mate is called was all sulky registered their marriage.

Why is AJ so jealous, thinking her partner is interested in his old flame in the immigration office, thinking Rick will shag Anna if he stays with her.

But it nearly killed him Slartybartfast!

Kay Mellor's dramas are always ridiculous but very addictive to watch. Having said that, I'm not fussed about whether there'll be a second series or not of this.

Actually, Rick is creeping me out. He is scarily obsessed with Kate. He constantly pesters her, treats his ex as though she was nothing despite having tried for a baby with her. What if it was him who sent the usb stick to Rob?

Mmmm that would be an interesting twist ISay, think you might be on to something there.

This is trash drama but very addictive, nonetheless.

Seriously, his constant 'you love me, you know you do' makes me think Kate only kissed him because he wouldn't stop until she did. And then he pestered her AGAIN after the kiss. I would be very disturbed. One drunken shag does not equate to love or wipe out Kate's family. Rick seems to think it does.

The character development has been awful which is why some of the characters motives have been bizarre and unclear. I think Kay Mellor wrote too many sub-plots and lost focus.

I'm enjoying it - love Kate (but I generally do always love Ashley Jensen's characters!)

I love Ashley Jensen and have done ever since Extras. Whenever I see her in anything I always think 'Oo, fantastic, Maggie got a starring role in something' then have to remember she is not the character!

Assume a few months have gone by. Didn’t the bereaved dad say his baby (looking big in bouncer) have teeth

He was a few days old at beginning

So assumed 6mths have passed

Judy has changed her tune, all still so ridiculous

It's a real shame as this could have been so good. If they had just done as different story each week, so the birth, wedding and death for the first couple, another family the next week. Just have the staff as background. A bit like they do with Doctors (when they're not doing kidnappings, killing and open marriages!).

A missed opportunity.

I agree, Mip - fewer plots would have improved this. It's almost as though someone had bet Kay Mellor that she couldn't fit in infidelity, people smuggling, trans issues, infant death, same sex marriage, workplace bullying, etc. etc. in one series.

Agreed. Too many characters and too many stories in each episode. I’ve seen every one of Kay Mellor’s series’s and this was the weakest.

Why on earth did they give Freddie Flintoff that role instead of an actual actor?

Freddie did hold his own though didn't he? TBH I felt a bit choked up watching AJ perform the marriage ceremony knowing her dh has just passed away.

I thought he was abysmal!
