Anyone watching this new series by Kay Mellor?

Not a bad opening episode. I wish I knew I'd needed tissues sobs Rebecca Flack (I hope I have her name correct) is playing a good baddie.

OP posts:

Two episodes left.

Bumblebee2302 · 09/12/2017 14:57

I'm thinking Anna might be the one leaking info

Lambside · 09/12/2017 15:12

MaudAndOtherPoems My first thought too on hearing about this series. Do you reckon Kay Mellor listened to the radio comedy series and thought oooh that would do for another tv thing?

southeastdweller · 09/12/2017 15:37

Why would it be Anna? Confused

woodhill · 09/12/2017 17:45

Jamie/James is being selfish

MaroonPencil · 09/12/2017 17:51

I also thought it might be Anna just because she was the last person we saw the groom and best man with before they stormed into the wedding. Where were they between coming into the town hall and her saying "come this way"?

MaroonPencil · 09/12/2017 17:52

Sorry I meant between her saying come this way and them storming the wedding!

MissEliza · 09/12/2017 18:40

I think it's a red herring about Judy. It's just too obvious. I reckon it's Anna.

Bumblebee2302 · 09/12/2017 20:12

Also, in the pub afterwards Anna was saying about them seeming like nice blokes - just made me wonder.

Furryface · 10/12/2017 03:23

I think that someone who was trying to cover up such an awful thing like shagging a colleague on film and being blackmailed, would never be that relaxed. She was behaving like it was a minor irritation! Very unrealistic. Also how could she think her partner already knew about the content of the USB when he was being so normal? Ridiculous.

eloisesparkle · 10/12/2017 10:39

You do have to suspend disbelief.
All a bit contrived.
She is very empathetic with her clients but not so to her husband.
Does AJ actually fancy the co worker?
He just moons over her. Mind you he is handsome Smile
I thought she said '...we have a child together' with policeman. So does she have one or two children with him? Whose child is the younger boy ?

scrabbler3 · 10/12/2017 18:11

I think that Lucy is their only "joint" child. They each had one son when they met.

KNain · 11/12/2017 13:28

I agree. This is one of the worst programmes I've seen in ages. I don't think any character has said/done anything anyone in real life would say/do yet! And yet I cannot stop watching it.

Why do they always interrupt each other? The mistake on the register at the same-sex marriage wasn't going anywhere. So why did Kate walk in to the baby naming ceremony? - just wait 5 minutes until Judy was back in the office!

And why was Kate conducting the police interviews after the sham marriage?

I don't understand the whole Rick thing either. Does Kate fancy him? She doesn't seem to. And his voice is so annoying, doesn't match his face somehow.

southeastdweller · 11/12/2017 14:14

Kate s

southeastdweller · 11/12/2017 14:16

Sorry, posted too soon.

Kate slapping Judy in the middle of the office was also ridiculous. And in a RL situation all those witnesses would never have covered it up.

I’m hoping for some subtlety in Kay Mellor’s next project, Girlfriends, which starts on ITV in a few weeks.

Blondeshavemorefun · 14/12/2017 11:07

I’m still loving it

Easy watching and good plots - tho all may not agree

The slap was fab and as all colleagues seem to hate her that’s what all said they saw nothing

Not sure who blabbed about the marriage sham and baby pillow

Would love a second series

Slartybartfast · 14/12/2017 21:14

It should be on in the day time

TheRealKimmySchmidt63 · 15/12/2017 00:23

Think AJ's boss secretly likes her

southeastdweller · 15/12/2017 09:05

I knew it was Judy who tipped off Amir. This weeks eye rolling moment came at the end when Rob found the compromising photos of Kate and Rick which Kate had kept in her desk of drawers, as you do Hmm

StayAChild · 15/12/2017 10:24

I've quite enjoyed the setting, but the constant interruptions during ceremonies and registrations is so unbelievable and annoying.

Kate's life leaves me exhausted just watching her bundle from one massive problem to another every 5 minutes. All that eye rolling and stressful shrugging, then she slips back into being professional in the blink of an eye. The photos in the drawer were ridiculous.

Optimist1 · 15/12/2017 10:31

Yup, Stay - in the list of Ridiculous Things to Do, keeping compromising photographs in the bedroom you share with the person you don't want to see them comes very high up! And I agree that although on the occasions she's having uninterrupted time with her clients she's very charming and professional, all the remainder of the time she's wildly out of control. Very disappointing to hear her say that the thing she feared most was being alone.

MaroonPencil · 15/12/2017 12:34

I'm going off it a bit now although I liked it to start with, mainly because the relationship between Kate and Rob just seems so wooden - even though she is touching his face etc she just doesn't seem to be into him at all. She seems to be more maternal towards him if anything, which makes the sex/ snogging seem weird, and doesn't make me believe in the relationship at all.

MaroonPencil · 15/12/2017 12:34

Sorry, not Rob, RICK!!

Italiangreyhound · 15/12/2017 19:44

KNain I so agree! "This is one of the worst programmes I've seen in ages. ....And yet I cannot stop watching it." Me too.

"Why do they always interrupt each other?" I know. If I was registering my loved one's death I would not want anyone disturbing me!

Italiangreyhound · 15/12/2017 19:46

It's almost like she is just flattered someone fancies her. The whole off again on again marriage with her partner is mad!
