And there's me thinking I'm the only one watching between housewife's 😬

Kannet · 18/05/2018 21:29

I remember they bought the one next door to des Barnes as he used to prank them.

Surely Brian is going to get stabbed outside a nightclub soon , I'm too invested in this 🤔

EdithWeston · 18/05/2018 22:37

The gnome might be appearing soon, then, once Derek has a garden.

cloudyweewee · 18/05/2018 22:38

I absolutely hated the Barnes with a passion!

CoolCarrie · 18/05/2018 22:55

Totally agree, cloudy, they were obnoxious.

I am finding myself getting the rage with Kevin Webster, as Sally has been occupied with her dad's accident, Kevin is moaning about her not making his tea or his butties! He has been going to the chippy instead of making his own tea! Sally works too but why is she also expected to cook and clean and run around after him too when all he does is work and no housework! Hmm

thewooster · 20/05/2018 11:51

Just caught up with this week's and was laughing out loud with Bet and Alec and the new barman. Bet 'did you win him in a raffle' Classic Corrie comedy gold.

Loved the Deirdre kidnap episodes, so gripping. And Bradley is ramping up to be villain.

It is interesting how the men expected everything done for them such as Kevin. Sally works and she has to keep the house, cook all their meals. Ken is so disapproving of Deirdre's council work, guilt tripping all the time.

drearydeardre · 20/05/2018 17:58

I like Dierdre's comment in the aftermath of her kidnap - she was worried about Tracy growing up and vulnerable to evil men,
Nah - Tracy can look after herself (including attacking Charlie whatshisname) Smile
The only character I find tedious in Corrie - is Vera - she is so screechy and I can't watch her.
Loving the 80s/90s cardigans and jumpers - I remember having big colourful jumpers at the time which I definately could not wear now!
Jenny Bradley was a good little actress too - she still is.

confusedandemployed · 20/05/2018 18:03

I remember when I was younger being so surprised that Alan and Don turned out to be bad guys, but watching it now with older eyes it's glaringly obvious that they were both wrong'uns

Kannet · 21/05/2018 08:15

I just don't get how Rita was so desperate to get him back when he was shacked up with someone else.

I thought that too Kannet. Attitudes to affairs seem a bit off. No one seemed to blame Gail for cheating on Brian (except Brian). The elder Duckworths dalliances with others are treated as a joke. Derek said in the shop one day that "the worst thing that can happen to a woman is to lose her man" perhaps that is the stance they are adopting.

Mavis was frightened of going on alone and so jumped at Derek's proposal, poor Emily is stuck with Mr Sugden, even Bet settled for Alec. Glo was so desperate she stole Sandra Stubbs' bloke and went out with Alan until he dumped her for Rita. There is that fear of being a middle aged "spinster" in the writing.

WhatMakesYouHappy · 23/05/2018 22:56

Where do you all think we are up to date wise? Thinking that the MacDonalds must turn up soon, just looked it up and it was 1989?

WhatMakesYouHappy · 23/05/2018 22:57

Oh and Raquelle! Exciting!

EdithWeston · 24/05/2018 07:16

Looks like things are beginning to go wrong in the Tilsley household again. If Brian keeps going out alone to nightclubs, it'll all end in tears!

southeastdweller · 24/05/2018 07:45

We're up to February 1989 at the moment. The McDonalds came into the show in October.

ChevalierTialys · 24/05/2018 07:49

Think we're up to May (ish) 1989. Wasn't it 1989 when Brian died?

ChevalierTialys · 24/05/2018 07:52

Ah February Grin shows what I know!

southeastdweller · 24/05/2018 07:54

He died in that February.

Kannet · 24/05/2018 09:27

Whose house did the Mac Donald's move into

What happens to Shirley when Raquel comes and Curly goes with her? Don't they get married?

kikashi · 24/05/2018 10:36

I think (but not sure) that the McDonald's buy Audrey and Alf's (so they do) when Audrey persuades Alf to move to semi detached bliss in Grassmere Drive. IIRC Curly asks Shirley to marry him but although she loves him she feels he is not quite right for her - not exciting enough (I think she leaves). I like Shirley.

MiniatureMediterraneanDonkey · 24/05/2018 15:05

If we are up to Feb 1989 now, Brian must die any day now?

BluthsFrozenBananas · 24/05/2018 15:14

I looked it up, sadly Raquel doesn't turn up until 1992. Shirley does leave in 1989 though, but we get the McDonald's this year as well, so it balances out. Corrie went to three episodes a year in 1989 too so time isn't going to pass quite so fast. Christmas 1989 also brings the end of one couple's marriage...

drearydeardre · 24/05/2018 16:29

three episodes a year - good grief that is drawing it out Grin
It will be so satisfying to see creepy womanizer Alan B get his comeuppance (again) !
