I've given up on "new" Corrie since finding "proper" Corrie. Is anyone else surprised at how much goes on off street? In the new ones they hardly ever seem to film away from the set but I suppose that's down to the increase in episodes per week since the 80s. We must be getting near the McDonalds arriving on the street as well as Alma, Raquel and Des Barnes? When did the houses that Mavis and Derek and the Platts live in get built?

CoolCarrie · 09/05/2018 06:48

I notice the lack of teenagers and young children in “proper “ Corrie. There is Nicky, Sarah Louise, Tracey , Jenny and the lads who deliver the papers and that’s it. Very different from now.

Oh Rita, crying and begging that slimeball Alan to come back, find your dignity womanHmm

SallyCinnamon3009 · 10/05/2018 09:53

Just catching up with yesterday's had to laugh when Rita was begging Alan and said "I've seen the future and it terrifies me". Oh Rita, if only you knew.....

Enjoyed the Christmas episodes. So much to like.
Wow - the Deirdre kidnap was really well done.Very tense. Annoyed that Ken will be able to crow that he was right and Deirdre will feel she has "to get back in her box". Alan Bradley has gone very bad pretending to be Len at the bank . Why is he always chewing and kissing? Liked seeing him dance with Audrey at Mavis and Derek's soiree.

Mavis is so funny , wanting holey cokey (perhaps Huddersfield style) and Derek avoiding and wanting a nice cup of tea. Bet smoking at Emily's Christmas dinner table and Alf boasting how the hotel room will have an ensuite!

kikashi · 16/05/2018 10:22

hokey cokey

Housewife2010 · 16/05/2018 15:14

I don't like Emily on the repeats. For such a devout woman she can be quite unpleasant with her pained faces and moaning.

RogueAnt · 16/05/2018 15:40

Loved the Christmas dinner scene, Bet: " I have been ravished all morning" Grin

cloudyweewee · 16/05/2018 17:48

I want to know what Hokey Cokey Huddersfield Style is too Grin

Kannet · 17/05/2018 12:46

I'm just catching up. Can't believe pc Bellamy works in Manchester lol

I know, how young did he look?

ChevalierTialys · 17/05/2018 13:27

Excellent scene when Deirdre and Bet talked about Deirdre being held in that guys flat. Deirdre's description of the fear and the thought process was eerily accurate and very well put. Loved that scene, loved Bet in it. How frustrating for Deirdre that she can't explain this to Ken because he's too busy being pompous angry to listen.

Kannet · 17/05/2018 13:38

Ken never seemed very nice to Deirdre. Very condescending all the time.

Anyone else noticed Tracyluv's a completely different child?

With Glo now gone off (presumably to become Jackie Corkhill, I'd love a Brookside repeat run) it can't be that long until Raquel turns up.

cloudyweewee · 17/05/2018 17:28

I think the new Traceyluv stayed in it until she was about 20, although i could be wrong.

DSDennisMilne · 17/05/2018 19:05

Tracey the future murderer reading a Jack the Ripper bookGrin

kikashi · 18/05/2018 13:33

Grin I thought that too DS Ken is vile.
Emily was pretty horrid to Mavis (when she invited Emily for holidays at their proposed new pad). Don Brennan makes my skin crawl. Mark Eden as Alan Bradley is excellent.

I agree chevalier that sense that you are so vunerable and aware you are a woman and what could happen... Take note writers - you don't have to have a violent rape to make your character feel violated.

Kannet · 18/05/2018 16:50

I also think Gloria left with a whimper. Bit unfair for a long term character

kikashi · 18/05/2018 16:57

Yes - you'd think Bet would have gone to see Glo, she was her bridesmaid after all. Did Glo stay with the bloke and just found another pub to work in?

kikashi · 18/05/2018 16:58

I think it would have been nicer if Glo had decided to go back to Canada to work with her rich brother.

Kannet · 18/05/2018 17:35

I would have liked to see a Gloria wedding and then moving somewhere exciting

She went to Brookside (3 years later), is that more exciting? Grin

CoolCarrie · 18/05/2018 20:09

Gloria left as the actress was having a baby.

Kannet · 18/05/2018 21:01

It can't be long until th new houses are built across the street can it. I remember Mavis and Derek bought one
