I loved Phylis Pearce and Percy Sugden.

Redglitter · 26/10/2017 18:04

I'm enjoying the old episodes much more than the current ones

MrsSteveMcDonald · 26/10/2017 18:06

We saw Percy once at the Granada Studios Tour, we were so excited. I spotted current Peter in the Arndale once too but those are the only cast I've seen IRL

quaqua · 26/10/2017 18:12

I don't remember Sally having a thing with Terry Duckworth. Can't blame her though - Kevin was so square!
Steve and Karen were my favourites.

Kannet · 26/10/2017 18:27

I can’t get over how much terry and jack look alike. They where very well cast

They used studios for all the interior scenes, and the angles are very different now, so I don't think that is Roy's cafe, maybe they did loads of rebuilding after the tram crash. There is a lot of stuff on Corriepeida if you have a look.

OstentatiousWanking · 26/10/2017 20:07

So happy to see a thread about this.
I too am loving the gentleness of the classic episodes.
And it's such a huge nostalgia fest. I was 17 when this story line was current. It's such a sharp contrast to life now. No smart phones or Internet, it really was a completely different World.

Birdsgottafly · 26/10/2017 21:15

Looking at Adam Barlow and Amy, now, they've been really well cast.

This has brought back memories, I had just had a baby with my much older DP and I can remember empathising with Susan.

What's interesting is that with Tyrone putting Jack on a pedestal, I'd forgotten how bad a Father and Husband he was.

My DDs can't get over how Sally was. The way the factory Women (who get called Girls every day) wear overalls at work, which we did into the eighties.

Mike's flat was an example of the height of sophistication, complete with the displayed decanter and yukka plant, to top off the green leather chesterfield.

ScarletPower · 04/11/2017 17:09

I'm loving them!

I think Gail and Brian lived 'off street'

I like how they are airing what is essentially a month's episodes in a week. I only started watching last week and I noticed it said they were aired in May 1986 and now we're onto August's.

It's truly like a time capsule. Both Rita and Gloria waiting for Alan to make the first move on them...also Jenny Bradley would probably have been the same age as Fay is now - the contrast in the storylines they are acting out is immense. How times have changed.

BrennieGirl · 04/11/2017 17:13

What time are they on?

PetalStretch · 04/11/2017 17:17

I saw it for 5 seconds the other week. Hard to believe 30 years ago! Touching scene in "The Cabin". Full of gentle humour and conversation. Mavis actress and characterisation just brilliant!

I don't watch Coronoation Street anymore - like Eastenders - its all cardboard cutouts - here's the 'gay', here's the PSA (public service announcement) about domestic violence, being disabled, having epilepsy, cancer, and so on, blahdeblahdeblah.... soooooo patronising.

Kannet · 04/11/2017 17:34

I can’t figure out why they are all
After Alan. Was he sexy in 1986

ScarletPower · 04/11/2017 19:29

Brenniegirl - ITV3 at 2.45

CoolCarrie · 04/11/2017 20:00

There are two episodes, every day, one after the other on itv 3 2.45

EdithWeston · 05/11/2017 07:31

"I can’t figure out why they are all After Alan."

To put it bluntly - fresh meat

MrsSteveMcDonald · 10/11/2017 17:11

I'm really disliking Brian. I understand that he will be pissed off about finding out the baby isn't his but I thought he was rather unpleasant before. Nice to see Derek today and I'm find the prices of everything hilarious, 95p for a G&T :o

Kannet · 10/11/2017 17:18

Derek Looks so young. How old is Mavis supposed to be. I’m guessing mid forties

OP posts:
Boswellox · 10/11/2017 20:48

C4 should repeat old Brookie episodes and BBC Eastenders. There's an appetite, I'm thinking..

CoolCarrie · 11/11/2017 14:54

You're right Boswellox, definitely Brookie.

EdithWeston · 18/11/2017 18:03

I've been able to watch most days this week, and am loving it.

I started watching Corrie back in the 1970s, but for various reasons didn't really watch from mid-80s to mid-90s. This is a brilliant way of filling in the gaps.

SergeantFredColon · 19/11/2017 20:22

I can’t get over all the smoking. Nearly all the characters smoking all the time all over the place.

Boswellox they don’t need to show Classic Enders, considering there is a current storyline about James Wilmott Brown raping Kathy...

Bumblina · 19/11/2017 20:24

Classic Corrie is a real treat. Although I've missed it all week, I wish it was on catch up!
Love Phyllis, Bet, Rita . Gail is pretty annoying though (what's new!)

SergeantFredColon · 19/11/2017 20:28

I record it as am at work when it’s on.

ChevalierTialys · 19/11/2017 20:31

Placemarking on this thread!

ChevalierTialys · 19/11/2017 20:32
