Yes, I noticed Kevin's tight jeans the other day, could see every contour and which way it was lying, I didn't quite know where to put my eyes! Shock

CoolCarrie · 25/11/2017 21:52

I think Hilda kept the curlers in just in case!

SergeantFredColon · 25/11/2017 22:38

She’s had them out a few times, like when she went to the pub with Sally and Kevin to buy them a celebratory engagement drink.

Can’t stop looking at the tight trousers now!!

Dontsweatthesmallstuff · 26/11/2017 00:42

Hilda had them out for ages when Audrey messed the colour up Grin

I'm abit behind but think Kev and Sally are so sweet.

I must have missed a few years as I remember Rita's husband Len and Hilda's Stan being around but can't remember anything about Alan Bradley and Jenny.

I'm currently trying to work out which classic corrie characters are living in the which house the current characters are in. The decor in classic corrie all seems very bland and samey (and beige) from house to house apart from Hilda's with the mural and ducks lol

scrabbler3 · 26/11/2017 02:11

Hilda mentioned that she had two children, a boy and a girl. I don't remember them at all.

EdithWeston · 26/11/2017 04:04

There were two children who appeared.

Irma married Ken Barlow's brother and they ran the corner shop before emigrating. Car crash, in which husband and son died, led hour to return to the Street and to the corner shop. There was some sort of hostage drama at the shop (don't remember exactly, but it was her criminal boyfriend). A while after she decided to leave the Street and move elsewhere. Though she was mentioned from time to time.

Trevor was the teen tearaway when the Ogdens first moved on. He left under a cloud (stealing?). He built an apparently respectable life elsewhere, marrying and having children. He'd told his wife his parents were dead, so she was a little surprised when they turned up after they tracked him down. He visited then on the Street a couple times, usually when he wanted something.

The Ogdens lived at number 13 (next to corner shop). I think that's now Kevin's (again - it had been the Webster family home before the house swop with the Peacocks) and Anna, Faye and sometimes Gary live there too.

scrabbler3 · 26/11/2017 09:56

Thanks Edith! None of that rings a bell but I only started watching properly in around '85 - I barely remember Stan/Mrs Walker/Elsie etc.

ChevalierTialys · 26/11/2017 21:00

Fridays episode, the day after Sally and Kevin's wedding, the drama with Kens Bingo cards - that's the episode that was on the day I was born Grin. Saved it forever haha

ChevalierTialys · 26/11/2017 21:05

Loved Kev and Sallys wedding, they were so excited. It was so simple and sweet. Actually romantic.

scrabbler3 · 26/11/2017 22:47

Ah, I'm glad you identified the ep. And I hope your mum has finally caught up with it, 31 years later! Ha.

ChevalierTialys · 27/11/2017 09:17

It's silly but I'm happy about it because she's always said she was on the anti natal ward watching the Krypton Factor, waiting for Corrie, when she realised I was on my way and she was rolled out to the birthing suite just as the credits ended so because I came so quickly she missed the episode Grin

ChevalierTialys · 27/11/2017 09:23

I kind of love young Sally, she was so bright and cheerful! I do like Sally now too because she's actually pretty funny when she's paired with the right people. It was hilarious when she first got with Tim and was totally bemused when he became best mates with Kevin.

SergeantFredColon · 27/11/2017 10:49

That’s so funny about the episode being on the day you were born - so funny she remembers which one!

Sally and Kevin are lovely. Also lI’ve Bet.

SergeantFredColon · 27/11/2017 10:53

Why does Susan Barlow dress like she’s 40 years older than she is? Emily’s clothes are nicer than hers.

scrabbler3 · 27/11/2017 15:01

I think that Jenny dresses old too, although I noticed her matching plastic earrings and beads the other day (very mid eighties!). And Gail, too. Sally is the only young woman with any sense of fashion. Gloria looks like a legal secretary.

Grunkalunka · 27/11/2017 15:41

Susan is only 2 years older than Sally (I think) but you're right she does dress very middle aged. I do remember my flat mate dressing like Susan (blouses with bows, pleated skirts, pearls, blouson jackets) but only for work - not for going out!

I think Jenny looks a lot better now.

buggerthebotox · 28/11/2017 17:34

Bruno that was how "white collar" women dressed for work! You're right-it is a very ageing style. Very Margaret ThatcherGrin.

buggerthebotox · 28/11/2017 17:35

...i think Jenny looks younger now than she did then!

scrabbler3 · 29/11/2017 23:09

Jenny's hair is her best feature but the style she had in the 1980s didn't show it off. It's gorgeous now.

Curly and Roy would get on. I don't know if the characters ever overlapped.

Thelma Barlow is an outstanding actress. I didn't appreciate it back then. There aren't many duds in the cast at all, actually.

buggerthebotox · 30/11/2017 09:35

I used to dress like Sally on a non-work day and Susan on a work day. I hated it, but there was no middle ground. I don't think we were allowed to wear trousers! Shock.

thewooster · 30/11/2017 12:33

Did anyone else notice the Marathon chocolate bars behind Mavis in the Kabin?

I keep trying to look at the size of the bars to see if they really have shrunk over the years.

CoolCarrie · 30/11/2017 14:43

Yes I did noticed too, and wondered the same. Maybe we will see Opal Fruits as well.

CoolCarrie · 30/11/2017 14:45

The scripts were much funnier then.
Now we can see the outside of Gail's house!
Why is Gail being such a cow, she was the one who played away, especially as it was Brian's cousin!

Mc180768 · 30/11/2017 15:51

Loving Classic Corrie. All those fantastic women.

Hilda, Elsie, Ena, Bet, Betty, Audrey. Sally is so refreshing, but the battle axes are fantastic and depict working class streets from my childhood.

Kannet · 30/11/2017 15:57

The 35p for a grapefruit juice really made me smile. So expensive lol
