Alex always struck me as rather camp. Do you think that he and Bet had a "full" marriage?

southeastdweller · 06/02/2018 20:40

I was also thinking that watching the second episode that was on today. But I’m pretty sure that Bet later commented at least once that he was good in bed.

cloudyweewee · 06/02/2018 20:42

Thanks for that mental image
Pass the brain bleach.

God in bed might mean that he brings her tea and toast there....

Looking forward to the wedding tomorrow

southeastdweller · 06/02/2018 21:18

I loved the scene where Bet talked to Gloria about settling for Alec. It's what Corrie used to do so well - conversations about non-sensational stuff we could all relate to. I also loved the bit later on with Vera dancing at the Pink Flamingo.

The episode is here on YouTube for those who can't watch ITV3:

CoolCarrie · 07/02/2018 06:49

Bet gets pregnant and has a miscarriage which is devastating for both of them.

Bet gets pregnant and has a miscarriage which is devastating for both of them.

It's a bit mental because the episodes are 30 years old but that's a total spoiler for me because I was 1 when they were on Grin

Ladytron11 · 07/02/2018 14:55

Well Bet and Gloria are a vision of 80s OTT bridal fashion, with Glo in peach, natch.

CoolCarrie · 07/02/2018 15:40

Sorry Chevalier !

southeastdweller · 07/02/2018 15:46

I really don’t think it’s possible to do spoilers for episodes 30 years +.

EdithWeston · 07/02/2018 21:11

The dresses were amazing - Gloria in particular: sort of Marie Antoinette meets tablecloth meets Emmanuel

southeastdweller · 07/02/2018 22:36

They were indeed!

Classic Corrie

Loved Bet's outfit when she went to get her hair done for the wedding, leopard print dress, leopard print coat, leopard print headscarf! Grin

olliegarchy99 · 08/02/2018 16:27

loved todays scenes with Hilda agonising over leaving her house and its memories for a new life with uncle Tom. It was such understated acting and dialogue - brought a tear to my eyes.
£14k for a terraced in weatherfield - how times have changed Smile

CoolCarrie · 08/02/2018 17:35

And Alec telling Bet that she is mistress of Rovers as a wedding present.

Ladytron11 · 09/02/2018 18:38

Tracy had her appendix out today. She didn't have a lot of luck health-wise as a kid, did she?

cloudyweewee · 09/02/2018 21:14

She seemed delighted with her pink elephant toy that Mike & Susan bought her.

CoolCarrie · 09/02/2018 22:20

Vera and Jack got a “Living Flame “ gas fire, which Jack fitted, and the last scene was them falling asleep in front of it, not long after both Ivy and Alf noticed that there was a smell of gas
. Oh and Bet tried to host a dinner party, but her guests called off, so Emily and Marvis joined them instead to sample Bet’s Cock o Vin, which had lumps in it! It was funny and sad at the same time as Bet had made a lot of effort to be the perfect hostess, with the mostess. Alan is off to France to bring Jenny back. Hope that brings you up to date Kannet!

scrabbler3 · 10/02/2018 23:21

That pink elephant was a bit babyish for Tracyluv, surely. Isn't she about 12? I'm pretty sure that she's 42 now. And yes, the actress looks a lot like Elle Mulvaney!

Loved Mavis' carton of Quosh. And the reference to fun-fur (when did it become faux-fur?) And garlic croutons being a weird new thing.

It feels strange watching Kev and Sally now, as a friendly divorced couple, wth Kev giving her relationship advice, compared to the bright and happy newlyweds they were then. Those two actors have worked closely together for over 30 years, they must know each other so well.

Kannet · 11/02/2018 09:11

Thanks everyone. Keep it coming. Hopefully can start watching again in a week or so.

Yes - I smiled too when I saw the carton of Quosh.
Always disliked Ken and his behavior about Deirdre's council work is reminding why.
Really like Ivy this time round though - she looked so giddy inside and pleased when (the vile) Don Brennan asked her out - great acting.

CoolCarrie · 11/02/2018 12:49

Get well soon Kannet

AuntTrotwood · 11/02/2018 14:53

Watching the old ones makes me sad that Kevin and Sally didn't work out. It's nice that they're on good terms still but they are a great couple.

BluthsFrozenBananas · 12/02/2018 07:49

Im sure Tracyluv’s age has been stated as 10. When Deidre went to visit her she took a magazine, some sweets and something I’m sure she described as “smelly and squirty” what on earth was it?

Was there ever anything between Jack and Bet? I couldn’t work out if Jack was hinting there was or just making reference to Bet’s past in general.

Kikashi · 12/02/2018 08:26

I'm pretty sure Bet did have an affair with Jack several years before the events happening now but ended it (she felt bad about Vera). She also was a live in girlfriend, "housekeeper" for Mike when he lived in Ivy's house (late 70's I think) but he also had a girl in London IIRC.

Really enjoying these episodes as I missed a lot of 87/88/89 as was working too hard and sometimes had no TV in my flat.
