I thought that about Nicky being introduced to Geoff. Also, Gail went nuts went Liz was accidentally at Ivy's as she and Brain had agreed they would discuss new partners with each other first before introducing to the kids.

I'm liking Ivy this time round. I think given the time period that Gail was given a very easy ride about her infidelity and pregnancy by the residents on the Street.

Sally is peppy but I find her annoying - what does she think Brain should do - give Kev the garage? She doesn't seem very grateful for all the help people have given her. Love the banter with Bet in the Rovers

Kikashi · 23/01/2018 17:19

Brian has behaved unforgivably today!!

cloudyweewee · 23/01/2018 17:27

I meant Liam in Corrie 2018. She should have a revolving bedroom door. I was at Uni in 1987 and back then I only watched Corrie in the holidays. I can't remember Liz or Jeff.

scrabbler3 · 23/01/2018 17:43

I've loved Classic Corrie (started watching in November) but the Nicky going missing storyline is a bit boring. Jeff is quite insipid as well, I'm tired of him and Gail grinning at each other.

cloudyweewee · 23/01/2018 17:52

I quite like the grinning. Better than the first date shagging that seems to happen in Corrie nowadays.

Kikashi · 23/01/2018 18:29

I think Jeff has been a bit full on too soon. I would be suspicious of him taking such an interest in me and my DC that quickly.

I liked it that Gail wanted to go to a disco for their first date. Brian's being an utter arse at the moment.

cloudyweewee · 24/01/2018 06:46

I loved howorking Jeff wore a suit for the disco. Just catching up this morning. Would a 6 year old be allowed to go to a friend's house on his own these days?

cloudyweewee · 24/01/2018 06:47

How not howorking!

CoolCarrie · 24/01/2018 15:49

Why on Earth did Gail marry Brian again after he has basically kidnapped Nicky?!

scrabbler3 · 24/01/2018 21:07

No, a 6 year old wouldn't be allowed these days. I think that Amy was still being walked to school in Year 6, aged 11.

A police officer today would also never dare say that all men would get tired of being alone with their children! More casual sexism.

It's kind of interesting as a social history.

"The way the factory Women (who get called Girls every day) wear overalls at work, which we did into the eighties."
Sill do wear overalls in factories, food ones especially.

Excitedforxmas · 24/01/2018 22:53

Gloria and Betty refusing to go down to the cellar because they were women!

Housewife2010 · 25/01/2018 06:29

I would use the same excuse.

cloudyweewee · 25/01/2018 18:04

I loved Ivy's head scarf.

ChevalierTialys · 25/01/2018 20:20

Well, regardless of what she became later on, Brian was pretty lucky to have Ivy there fighting for his relationship with Nicky. It looks to me like he'd have let it slip away without a fight.

ChevalierTialys · 25/01/2018 20:23

Curly was a bit of a bellend wasn't he?

ChevalierTialys · 25/01/2018 20:52

Shock @ Gail letting a fella convince not to look for her son for an hour!

ChevalierTialys · 25/01/2018 21:43

"Its 10 o'clock, Hilda!"
"Is it?"
"As a matter o' fact its 2 minutes past"
"Oooh, fancy! Very proud o' that watch arent ya, was it a present?"

LOve love love Hilda Grin

scrabbler3 · 25/01/2018 23:15

Hilda will be leaving soon - Christmas Day 1987 and it's the summer of 1987 now. It'll be a real shame.

Kikashi · 26/01/2018 12:56

Hilda is great. Can't believe Brian's behaviour. leaving Nicky in the car at the motorway services - ahh!! or Gail not informing the police about Brian's call and then the meeting with Alan Bradley. Alan Bradley wanting to get the papers signed first Shock. The men are pretty dreadful all round.

Can you imagine Gail's MN thread in relationships?

CoolCarrie · 26/01/2018 13:44

“ my first husband, who I married twice, was stabbed outside a night club, and died, leaving me with two children, my second husband was younger than me, and who I had a son with, went off with a nurse, my third husband turned out to be a multiple murderer, who tried to drown my children and myself, my fourth husband drowned in an accident, due to trying to defraud an insurance company, and I met my fifth husband when he tried to break in to my house, and he died recently of a heart attack! My daughter had a baby at 13, my eldest son nearly drowned in quick sand and my youngest son caused a neighbour to be badly burnt, oh and his wife died in his arms! Where am I going wrong in life? Should I give up on love? Am I cursed? Should I move house?”

Brian is horrible, as is Ken.

cloudyweewee · 26/01/2018 18:58

I started to fancy Brian today. Anyone got the number of a good therapist? Confused
