Bloody loving this.

Even if there are inconsistencies.

Welcome back all.

the aerobic sex - do "normal" couples do that?? I'm lucky if I can muster up the enrgey for vanilla, one-every-so-often sex.

Have you tried "Trust Me" which is also implausible but compelling- and involving a "doctor"? Also highly recommend Strike

papayasareyum · 21/09/2017 15:24

it's filmed mostly in Hitchin, that's where she went clubbing and where she spoke to Isabel about Tom forcing himself on her

kickingcancersass · 21/09/2017 18:03

The school is Bushey Academy near Watford!

3EyedRaven · 21/09/2017 21:35

To be honest, all this 'it's obviously written by a man, that's how men view women' rhetoric on these threads is starting to annoy me a bit, purely because the men in this show aren't portrayed any better!

He is batshit crazy!
Also, some women are batshit crazy too, I don't think either gender is coming out of this show particularly well to be honest

EmilyDickinson · 21/09/2017 21:35

Loving the madness of Dr Foster.

My theory is that now that Simon has been so thoroughly horrible to Tom, Gemma has enlisted Tom as a junior partner in her mad revenge plan. (She must have one.) She and Tom have therefore pretended to leave town (as if Gemma would ever say "You win." She'd rather die than give in.) They're actually going to sneak back under cover of darkness and continue living there by letting the neighbour's house, and the two of them are going to somehow mess with Simon's head.

FeralBeryl · 21/09/2017 21:50

Yep I also think they've not 'left left'
Maybe they're going to hide out in Neil's empty house over the road to carry out their evil plan drowning Simon

dontblameme · 21/09/2017 21:56

Marking my place. No idea where this is going next week!

Dowser · 21/09/2017 22:34

Was going to ask where that square is

Hitchin? Is that correct.
Looks nice, never been there.

I'm so pleased that finally Tom said to Simon stop calling me mate, I'm not your mate I'm your son!
That's been winding me up the whole time!

TheFormidableMrsC · 21/09/2017 22:47

Dowser yes, its Hitchin, it's lovely. Ironically where my ex-h lives with the OW. It has been a spookily similar story.

pingu73 · 21/09/2017 22:48

If anyone wants to watch a fantastic comedy a little like the angst of doctor foster and has Victoria Hamilton in who plays Anna watch our ex wife. It's a BBC pilot from 2016 and it's amazing!!! Very brutal about life with a hating ex but god damned side splittingly funny

haveacupoftea · 22/09/2017 02:46

It is annoying that we don't know what Simon told Tom about Gemma. S1 e1 I thought the whole series would be about figuring out who Simon was having the affair with and with pleasantly surprised when we found out straight away. So to have this tidbit constantly dangled is irritating.

ThaliaLuxurySpa · 22/09/2017 04:34

haveacupoftea,

Could it be that Simon told Tom about Gemma's 'suspected involvement' in (his Mother's) Tom's Grandmother's death?
Obviously slanting facts to suit his own agenda.

Memory's hazy, but wasn't Grandma dying and in pain, and decided to spare herself further suffering by overdosing on sleeping pills.
Or was it left open to our interpretation as to whether Gemma had actually helped her?

Peachyking000 · 22/09/2017 06:55

whyhastherumgone - have you watched Liar on Monday nights? It's just about filling the gap for me between episodes of Dr Foster!

whyhastherumgone · 22/09/2017 15:30

Haven't watched either of those so thanks for the suggestions :)

ktel1 · 22/09/2017 18:11

What was the point of the syringes she prepared in episode 1?

They ended that episode with the dramatic dissolving of the wedding ring and the preparation of the syringes

It looked like she was going to start her plan of revenge.

Since then he hasn't done anything other than creep around stalking people ,drinking copious amounts of wine, having an ill advised talk with a 15 year old boy and ill advised sex with her ex

Where's the plan?

Polkadot1974 · 22/09/2017 18:14

Those nude court shoes were strange....but I think I was so "meh" about this week's storyline, that I focused too much on how she looked fine after being so hammered and why on earth that teacher is interested in her. The shagging while son awake was not believable in the slightest!

squaresandsquares · 22/09/2017 20:27

Marking place

JuneJuly · 22/09/2017 21:33

ktel1 - agreed - I said very similar on the last DF thread.

End of first episode she appeared to be setting up a cunning plan (like she did in the first series to find everything out & make him pay), but since then it's been completely disjointed. Very frustrating to watch all these random happenings with no secret plan to really get behind.

Cagliostro · 22/09/2017 21:35

Just catching up with the thread and much as I'm enjoying the Dr Foster chat, I can't get past "ciabatta slipper" :o

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 22/09/2017 22:23

I'm not sure I fancy a ciabatta slipper. Smacks of fishiness and sweaty feet to me Grin

I don't see why the rushed off so fast. He wasn't letting tom in the house, Tom wasn't at school to be chased by them. Why?! Ros will be so upset. None of it seems to make much sense and Simon has done a massive turn around from that morning emailing about a school more local to him and then by that afternoon not letting him in the house?! What?!

lollipop7 · 22/09/2017 22:28

I thought the last episode was ludicrous.
I also want to burn those fucking hideous nude block heeled monstrosities she insists on wearing.

I was really looking forward to this second series but so far it's a shower of shit. I will tune in next week though.

mishfish · 22/09/2017 22:45

My jaw is sore from clenching as I'm CRINGING solidly for the entire episode.

Will still tune in next week though Grin

NightmareMonkey · 22/09/2017 22:55

It has just become so ridiculous I am unable to say any more about it.
