Anyway back to Dr Foster. I think I find it compelling because you have no idea where the writers are going with the characters or plot, but not in a good way.
So with say, Game of Thrones, you feel that each word, prop and action could have a consequence or role to play later in the story.
With Dr Foster I think that the writers have no concept of a timeline, character arcs or geography so each episode and scene can be completely disjointed from anything that's gone before. And then you get the weird camera focus and moody background music which seems to highlight irrelevant stuff, like the close up on a light switch when DF was answering the door in soft focus. No good reason for that at all.
I live in hope that the writers will all pull it together in the final episode. Meanwhile I'll watch and wonder if the things that I find weird will end up on this thread.
