Hopefully if I fill the first line or two with crap it won't show up any spoilers?

NOt my theory read iton OG but very interesting one

As we've realised, Frank Morgan played the Wizard of Oz in the 1939 film. Gene has nicknamed Sam 'Dorothy' before now... And someone else has already mentioned that Ray needs a heart, Chris needs a brain, Annie needs courage and Sam needs to get home.

MrsDoolittle - looks like it's not on the soundtrack . (or is there a series 2 soundtrack?)

TinyGang · 10/04/2007 22:23

I wonder what the alternative ending was?

MrsDoolittle · 10/04/2007 22:24

Thank misdee. I knew you would know

turquoise · 10/04/2007 22:24

Elasticband - knowing RedRum won the National, telling Marc Bolan to be careful in minis? Think it's got to be (a)

JackieNo · 10/04/2007 22:24

Maybe those were both the endings put together?

florenceuk · 10/04/2007 22:24

yes but why should he feel so sad in 2007 - surely PSTD. After all he had his mam, his auntie, and maybe even his old girlfriend once she worked out he was awake??? and yes i want the soundtrack too!

pageturner · 10/04/2007 22:25

Lemonaid! Over here!

SlightlyMadSlug · 10/04/2007 22:25

Don't really 'get' where the graveyard thing fints into scenario a). Come to think of it I don't really get where the graveyard scene comes into it all.

I mean even if it was amnesia in RL 1973 why would Morgan (presumabley) create fake(?) graves?

MrsDoolittle · 10/04/2007 22:26

I know John Simm has had a baby recently because he couldn't be on Steve Wright's show.

turquoise · 10/04/2007 22:26

They weren't fake graves. The Williamses were his real parents, and they took the names for his alias from the Tyler's.

MrsWho · 10/04/2007 22:27

florence but he had gone back to work so had ob been well a while and yet the GF wasn't there, think she had moved on

OP posts:
Moomin · 10/04/2007 22:27

another vote for (a), which makes it a better premise really as it's a happy ending for him but a tragedy for us in some ways.... like in Gladiator whe he has to die in order to be happy in Elysium with his wife & son.

elasticbandstand · 10/04/2007 22:27

i think test card girl was just turning us off, not ending his life...

lemonaid · 10/04/2007 22:27

If it's amnesia in RL 1973 then the graveyard was true, and he is Sam Williams, but equally Morgan is a bastard and Sam would rather stick with Gene and tell C Division to go hang.

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 10/04/2007 22:28

ah, thank you pageturner. glad about that. pity the song distracted me from the scene!

Moomin · 10/04/2007 22:28

It's a well-known thingybob (can't think of the word -DER) about using graves to create fake identities. Crims and police use it a lot

mrsjohnsimnelcake · 10/04/2007 22:29

loved it am don't care what it all meant- it is a TV programme, doesn't have to mean anything

now must find a new name

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 10/04/2007 22:29

Oi Lemonaid!

I'm the good woman he needs the lust from

EnormousChangesAtTheLastMinute · 10/04/2007 22:29

yes, he's dead, he had to die to redeem himself after letting annie down in the tunnel.

elasticbandstand · 10/04/2007 22:31

i thougth when he came out of coma, saw the surgeon, he was goig to close his eyes again and go back to 1973.

mrsjohnsimm · 10/04/2007 22:31

My lust! MINE!

Londonmamma · 10/04/2007 22:31

I think he was from 1973 and the 2007 part was fictional, the result of his brain injury. In Hyde, from where he was sent to work undercover, they could well have been coming up with much more modern policing which we ASSUME he knew from 2007.

If he'd been alive in 2007 and jumped off a building like that he would have died, not got back to 1973.

I like Philip Glenister in his coalminer's jacket!!

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 10/04/2007 22:32

Outta the way MrsJohnSimm

You're all so wrong, he has a time hopping consciousness and exists simultaneously in 1973 and 2007.

This is Outpost Gallifrey isn't it? I heard John Simm was due to play the Master in a few weeks ...
