Hopefully if I fill the first line or two with crap it won't show up any spoilers?

NOt my theory read iton OG but very interesting one

As we've realised, Frank Morgan played the Wizard of Oz in the 1939 film. Gene has nicknamed Sam 'Dorothy' before now... And someone else has already mentioned that Ray needs a heart, Chris needs a brain, Annie needs courage and Sam needs to get home.

No, the whole journey to Oz was Dorothy's dream, hence all the characters in Oz are people she knew in Kansas.

colander · 07/04/2007 16:56

D'oh - I really haven't seen the film for ages have I?!?!

Can't wait to see Tuesday's ep, but also don't want it to end. However, I think it is best that they are ending after two good series like The Office rather than dragging on and risking a dip in quality.

roseylea · 07/04/2007 16:57

i wish I could go back and watch the first episode again to see if I pick up any clues - does anyone know if you can watch it on the Virgin 'favourites' or 'TV hits' facility?

SaintGeorge · 07/04/2007 17:07

With the latest hints from adverts I am veering towards some sort of genetic storyline.

Gene Hunt
Sam in 1973 is from Hyde, (hunt and hide go nicely together)
The gravestone with the name but earlier dates

Must be more than just a search for Sam's dad though, as he met him in previous episodes and let him go again.

SaintGeorge · 07/04/2007 17:09

I like these comments on a blog:

"When I interviewed Simm last November on the day that filming wrapped, he refused to give out any clues about the Life On Mars finale even when I threatened him with a Chinese burn. However, he did confide with a wink that the ending will, "Blow your fucking mind". Sweet music to my ears."

"More recently, the show's executive producer Jane Featherstone has said: "Obviously, we will not be revealing in advance what eventually happens to Sam and we've even filmed two endings because we want to keep everyone, including the actors, guessing until the very end. All I can say is that there will be more revelations that will help Sam work out why he is in 1973, but there will also be some shocking surprises that will rock Sam's world - both in 1973 and 2007."

The same Jane Featherstone confirmed on radio that there is to be a spin-off.

MrsWho · 07/04/2007 20:33

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 07/04/2007 21:08

I saw the clip they showed....very interesting...but not much of the interview.

DeviousDaffodil · 07/04/2007 21:16

They showed the clip.
Sam gets a phone call from Morgan who more or less tells him if he wants to get back he has to get rid of Hunt......
That was on the Culture Show.
Have the radio times does not say much more thanis on here already.

SlightlyMadSpringBunny · 07/04/2007 22:34

*

Did it not say Gene Hunt and his team? Does that mean that Annie is on the hit list too? or does she not class as part of his team?

DeviousDaffodil · 08/04/2007 11:36

The Sam tyler headstone has born 1831 and died 1881 on it.
What is going on?
maybe they are red herrings?

Gobbledigook · 08/04/2007 11:41

Oh God, I really regret missing the last few episodes now...

MrsWho · 08/04/2007 13:20

curiouser and curiouser

OP posts:
margo1974 · 08/04/2007 14:18

I saw it - He didn't say much about it - I suppose he's moved on

DeviousDaffodil · 08/04/2007 14:19

He didn't give much away did he?

DeviousDaffodil · 08/04/2007 16:14

How sad am I?
just csecking the cast list in Radio Times.
In the las episode is Ruth Tyler (Sam's Mum?)
a Donald Skes and a Leslie Johns?
Mean anything to anyone?
I am so sad a nd so desparate to know what happens?!1

MrsWho · 08/04/2007 19:25

doesn't mean anything to me.Apparantly it is a different actress playing his mother this time if that is significant.

OP posts:
SaintGeorge · 08/04/2007 19:33

Well last time we saw his mum it was in 1973, so presumably a different actress means we will see her in the present day.

Is there much significance to the fact the Sam saved Annie's life? Stopping her getting murdered by his dad was a pretty big thing to do if he really is time travelling in some way.

Note to self - get a life.

MrsWho · 08/04/2007 20:01

She is a similar age to the last one (apparantly)
If anyone is interested the dvds are 1/2 price on Play.com this w/e

THE Trailer

OP posts:
margo1974 · 09/04/2007 21:51

His mum was played by Joanne Froggat (sp) in the last one IIRC. She was in Murder in the Outback playing Joanne Lees(sp? again) at the weekend. Maybe the two jobs clashed.
(I hope I got that right)

margo1974 · 09/04/2007 21:52

BTW what am I going to do after tomorrow?

Do I do the same as St George and get a life?

MrsWho · 09/04/2007 21:58

Ah that would explain it.
and after tomorrow you buy the DVDs and start again!

Tonights the night - Have you made sure you've left a bit of easter egg to eat while you watch

lemonaid · 10/04/2007 09:12

Caitlin Moran in the Times over the weekend:

The final episode of Life On Mars is imminent, and rumours have been abroad that two endings have been shot. In the event, this turns out to be correct. There are two endings. One for clever people, in which the show ? a modern classic, which has both made John ?Best Actor of His Generation?? Simm a household name, and donated Gene Hunt to the canon of TV icons ? ends with a satisfyingly dark and complex twist, beautifully pitched by Simm, that leaves viewers demanding that the show win at least three Baftas. And then there?s an ending for stupid people, which has been tacked on immediately afterwards, and leaves the show looking like the I Love 1973 retrotrash it always had to fight so hard to avoid being. Tsk. It?s like scoring a last-minute own goal off your backside. How upsetting.

MARGOsBeenPlayingWithMyNooNoo · 10/04/2007 09:20

That Caitlin sounds nice - not
