As we've realised, Frank Morgan played the Wizard of Oz in the 1939 film. Gene has nicknamed Sam 'Dorothy' before now... And someone else has already mentioned that Ray needs a heart, Chris needs a brain, Annie needs courage and Sam needs to get home.

you know, i think this might be the first show ever that i go out and buy a box set of. bet the bbc takes the opportunity to hump me for an absolute fortune.

Think DH is still a bit confused, bless him! I haven't been watching so can't clarify. So is Sam still in a coma in RL? Or has he died in RL? Is he now in 1973? And if he is now in 1973 - what will happen to the new future and Sam?

You don't know for sure, which I think is the whole point. Probably I think 2006 is real but he is enjoying the fictional 1973 more. But I might change my mind tomorrow.

sam got out of his come but decided he 'preferred' his coma type life and so jumped off a building to get back there

That's what dh thinks, but it seems a bit high risk to jump off a building, after all, you could die?!!

So, how did he know jumping off the building would take him back?

From what I understand he went back to 2006 as Morgan (his surgeon) managed to remove his tumour (Gene Hunt) - he was however bored back in 2006 and so committed suicide by jumping off the roof and went back to 1973 ! Wow !!

That's what confused me - I assumed 2006 wasn't real and got lost from there.

What I understood-
in the tunnel Morgan tells sam to go to hyde, sam doesn't want to as rest of 1973 getting shot but gets sucked into the light anyway.
2007- Sam wakes up sees Morgan and his Mam, goes back to work talks to mam' I know you always keep your promises Sam', bored at work cut his thumb (doesn't feel alive) goes on the roof and jumps.
In the tunnel inthe dark back in 1973 , Sam saves the day by shooting him from Shameless/John Leslie/Leslie Johns, and feels alive again.

Still don't really understand but I FUCKIN LOVED IT. Loved loved loved the cheesy ending. Buying the dvd the minute it comes out and GIVE JOHN SIMM A BAFTA.
