Hopefully if I fill the first line or two with crap it won't show up any spoilers?

NOt my theory read iton OG but very interesting one

As we've realised, Frank Morgan played the Wizard of Oz in the 1939 film. Gene has nicknamed Sam 'Dorothy' before now... And someone else has already mentioned that Ray needs a heart, Chris needs a brain, Annie needs courage and Sam needs to get home.

It said 'He's going" or something, meaning he was in the ambulance after jumping off the building and yes he was dying. All makes sense if you view it as a man going mad

thethirdwiseeasterbunny · 10/04/2007 23:02

That was fab, I didn't agree with Caitlin Morans review either. Thought the ending was quite emotional when he came out of his coma. It makes a nice change to watch something that ends with a lot of unanswered questions, me and DH had a good discussion about our various theories after it finished. I'll really miss it - sigh.

monkeytrousers · 10/04/2007 23:02

Crikey that was enough drama for me for the week!

thethirdwiseeasterbunny · 10/04/2007 23:04

brandnewhelsey- your dh is right, I saw Somewhere in Time donkeys years ago, it was v.nice and sad even though it had Jane Seymour in it !!!

monkeytrousers · 10/04/2007 23:04

remember that bit in childbirth when you go delirous with the laughing gas but the pain doesn't stop and you think the world has gone mad..life on mars!

MrsWho · 10/04/2007 23:07

maybe thats how they wrote it!

Aha! Score!!

Bobsdad · 10/04/2007 23:10

Having read Ms Moran's take on the ending over the weekend, I have to say I disagree wholeheartedly. There are indeed 2 endings, a 2006 ending and a 1973 ending. We're only here picking over every nuance because they ran both. In fact I am simultaneously picking over the bits in three different forums at the moment. LoM has definitely ensured its own immortality.

If it had ended with Sam plunging off the roof, what would we be left with? The good old and-then-I-woke-up-and-it-was-all-a-dream routine, with a suicide at the end for good measure.

The way they left it, there is just enough ambiguity in both 1973 and 2006 to ensure we'll be arguing over what it all meant for years to come.

drosophila · 10/04/2007 23:10

Mixture of Quantum Leap, Sliding Doors and that Spanish Film that Tom Cruise did a version of.

SO he has told them he is undercover from Hyde and when he goes back bugger all a mention of it. I think they would have been pissed even if he had saved the day and he would have been going back to Hyde and then wuld have become a witness in the trial of the century.

I love a good time travel mystery but this ain't one of them.

drosophila · 10/04/2007 23:11

Vanilla Sky that's it.

southeastastra · 10/04/2007 23:12

have to watch it again. i found it confusing and feel a little let down

monkeytrousers · 10/04/2007 23:13

Ran both endings where - in an alternate universe? I've only ever watched one episode previous to this one and he was going on about his fiancee - I was wondering why he hadn't met up with her.

Ah the multiverse theory..

Karensara · 10/04/2007 23:14

Right - this is what happened. He never actually 'woke up' in 2006. He was still in a coma and just 'dreamt' that he had. He realised this when he cut himself during the meeting and he remembered what Nelson had said in the bar about feeling things when you're alive. Because he didn't feel he had cut his finger, he knew he must be still in a coma. So, he takes a run for it and jumps off the roof because he knows he can't be hurt as he knows he's still in a coma - am I making sense here? Anyway, he goes back to where he left the others in the tunnel, saves the day and decides to stay in 1973. When he gets in to Gene's car, he hears the man on the radio saying that "we're losing him, he's fading" (or words to that effect). Sam changed the channel and said he never liked that station anyway. So, he did die in 2006. I think he knew that he 'died' but was happy in his 'coma' in 1973 and decided to stay there. (I hope he and Annie got married and had lots of little Sam's and Annie's !) It really is the best show I've ever seen on TV and I'll miss my Tuesday nights!

monkeytrousers · 10/04/2007 23:14

yes, I was reminded of vanilla sky - and something else..

UnquietDad · 10/04/2007 23:16

lemonaid, your (b) is extremely unlikely given that he knew about: Maggie becoming PM, football hooliganism, mobile phones, multi-channel TV, the future of multiracial Britain, IRA methodology... to name but a few!!

lemonaid · 10/04/2007 23:16

monkeytrousers -- he had a girlfriend (not fiancee as far as I remember) but she left him while he was in a coma (he got snippets coming through of her giving him big emotional speeches about it).

Assuming he was in a coma, of course...

Bobsdad · 10/04/2007 23:16

Wayne's World? I know, let's do the Scooby Doo ending! doodleoodleoo, doodleoodleoo, doodleoodleoo ....

Sorry, you can have Bobsmum back in a mo, she's just off watching a rockumentary about Karen Carpenter.

lemonaid · 10/04/2007 23:17

UD -- but see my post of 22:15:17

monkeytrousers · 10/04/2007 23:19

ah

anyone see george gently the other night? Simsy has a pretender for the crown!

MrsWho · 10/04/2007 23:22

UQD-Guilty or not guilty?

[twitches net curtain] He's being suspiciously quiet on the subject...

Bobsdad · 10/04/2007 23:25

It could have been anyone MrsWho. While our ladyfolk are all on here, we're all over on OG. Those of us who actually manage to get our memberships approved, that is. Took me weeks to get in there, this time last year!

SaintGeorge · 10/04/2007 23:26

I was about to do a long post of my theory to what it all meant but Karensara beat me to it (23:14:06)

MrsWho · 10/04/2007 23:30

Ah now just just the blokes I do both at the same time! Just too many people stating the obvious over there for me to post as I'd want to swear at them all
