What are people's opinions on the new Bake Off so far? And yes, I know we're only a few minutes in. IMO the new presenters feel a bit like they're trying a little too hard to be Mel and Sue.

Opinions?

Yeah Stacey should've been kicked off when she served baking paper in the pie.

I don't like anyone left in! That is unusual for me, i'm not normally a grumpy bugger Grin

SchadenfreudePersonified · 19/10/2017 22:26

(I remember because she said that needless comment about Liam expecting it.

I thought that was a rather ungracious comment as well Underpants

InsomniacAnonymous · 19/10/2017 22:51

Did anyone watch The Extra Slice? The cake they made for Liam was incredible.

WaxOnFeckOff · 19/10/2017 22:59

Yes! I vote that whoever made that should win! :o

jay55 · 19/10/2017 23:00

That was a true showstopper

badabing36 · 19/10/2017 23:12

Just come to say although I think Kate should've gone this week I really had started to hate liam.

'Prue says I'm good with flavours- I'm like yeah'

He did expect star Baker that time when Stacey won.

He said he should swap jobs and be a pizza maker when he came 2ND in the technical challenge.

Plus they always blather on about how young he is: he's 19 he's not a child. Remember what the average age that American soldiers who did in Vietnam was? Na na na na na nineteen.

Sorry I'm a bit overinvested.

badabing36 · 19/10/2017 23:14

Haven't seen extra slice yet so sorry if any of that stuff was covered in the episode.

TheLastPeg · 19/10/2017 23:50

I did find Liam entertaining, but also immature, as other posters have said.

Graphista · 20/10/2017 00:20

Stephen - smug and not funny - clearly scripted 'jokes' which he delivers badly

Stacey - all false modesty - clearly thinks she's better than everyone else, never helps or supports anyone else

Kate - I know a fair few Liverpudlians who are CRINGING about her banging on about it so much. And the falsely strong accent.

Sophie - who? Keep forgetting her name/face v boring

Stacey should have gone with the baking paper disaster joking aside I'm thinking she's well in with someone in production crew only explanation

Graphista · 20/10/2017 00:22

And yes LOVED Liam, think he is the one who will go on to be successful if he chooses to. He could do an Excellent students cookery show

MsJuniper · 20/10/2017 04:44

Stacey hasn’t won SB before.

Insomniac I missed a bit of the interview but Sandi said that she was nervous at the start because it was a huge show already. That they all got on wonderfully , Noel is lovely, Prue is intelligent, Paul is not as serious as he pretends to be.

There are many hours in the tent that are not filmed, of course!

buggerthebotox · 20/10/2017 09:23

Saw Extra Slice. Thought the obvious Liam luuuurve was excruciating, as well as the insinuation that he shouldn't have gone.

Tbf-some of those home bakes-wow!

RhiannonOHara · 20/10/2017 12:44

One poor week and Liam goes!

I agree with this. Overall he's been much better than Stacey, who just had a flukey good week this week. well, not even THAT good: her showstopper was a mess and a cheese dream.

I don't mind Kate; she's better overall than Stacey and I liked her clangers jokes and comments ('I hope I don't drop a clanger –I'm here all week.')

Anyone else think they might not boot anyone out of the semi-final? In the preview clip, Paul says 'This has been the hardest decision we've EVER had to make' in such a meaningful way, I can't help thinking they're going to spring some kind of surprise.

Sandi is so sweet the way she chokes up when she says who's going home. And Noel has really warmed up and is a proper laugh now. I get the feeling he gets on really well with the contestants.

viques · 20/10/2017 13:51

I have decided not to worry about Liam. he is charming, funny, articulate, good looking, bakes like a dream and has a warm engaging way about him. I think like Nadiya he is a TV natural and is probably even now asking his mum and nan to beat off the producers who are knocking at his door. I don't think we will see any more of the remaining contestants, even the eventual winner, but I think Liam has a broadcasting future ahead of him if he chooses to take it.

bibliomania · 20/10/2017 14:04

I agree, viques.

buggerthebotox · 20/10/2017 16:22

What happened to Candice from last year?

Igneococcus · 20/10/2017 16:26

I've seen recipes and articles from her in both the Times (or Sunday Times maybe) and Sainsburys Magazine. And I think she has a book out.

Ceto · 20/10/2017 16:50

She popped up on It Takes Two (the Strictly spin-off) last week.

IwantLEGO · 20/10/2017 19:43

Staying in when you baked baking paper is a joke. The decisions have been dicey for 3 weeks now.

Stacey they keep saying is "middle of the pack" but to me she's been scraping by for weeks. She got lucky this week because everyone messed up.

Kate and Sophie I keep entirely forgetting and getting mixed up. There's nothing memorable about either of them.

Steven is the best out of who is left now.

Yan, Julia and Liam I really liked. They all showed much more passion, enthusiasm and just stood out way more than anyone else.

I think this series would have been very different if Mary was still judging.

Dozer · 20/10/2017 20:01

Kate is a worse baker than Liam, including this week, and should’ve gone.

No one deserved star baker this week IMO.

JustDanceAddict · 21/10/2017 09:28

Liam
Was great. Gutted he’s gone as don’t really like any of the others. We hate Smug Stephen & he’s probably going to win.

GilligansKitchenIsland · 21/10/2017 09:36

I really liked Liam. Thought he was quite sweet and down to earth.
Wish I'd put a bet on Stephen to win - I said halfway through episode 1 that he was going to do it! He is a bit twee though.
Really like Sophie; she's so calm and collected.
Stacey's a wreck. Should have gone weeks ago. DH says the formula for winning bake off is "Never quite be the worst, and in the final episode, be the best" - think that's the game she's playing. If she wins it'll be so undeserved though.
Kate - meh. Not interesting.

Tealdeal747 · 21/10/2017 09:56

I think Sophie will win.

She’s the most solidly good.

I don’t like Stephen.

MarshaBrady · 21/10/2017 10:02

Liam was better than Stacey, such a shame
