What are people's opinions on the new Bake Off so far? And yes, I know we're only a few minutes in. IMO the new presenters feel a bit like they're trying a little too hard to be Mel and Sue.

I think they should have done without a star baker that week. Nobody deserved it.

Perhaps there should be a Least Worst Baker for times like that?

It's the first series on Channel 4, everyone expected it to be a disaster. There was no way they weren't going to be told to make it out to be the 'best ever' 'most difficult challenge ever in the history of Bakeoff' 'most difficult decision ever' 'most best ever star baker ever' even when it clearly wasn't!

I thought Sophie’s patisseries in the technical round were just beautiful.

And Stacey's looked like crap!!

How did Stacey even get that far?

Think they just wanted a ‘character’ more than talent.

I got the impression that there were a lot of occasions where Prue and Paul were looking at a culinary car crash on a plate and trying desperately to think of a way to put a positive spin on it. Especially with Kate's horrific meringue showstopper and almost everything that Stacey re-did did.

Liam should be here now and not Kate (much as I like Kate), and Stacey didn't go soon enough by about four weeks!

I caught sight of the Radio Times cover with the 4 semi-finalists on today. The women are made up to the nines but it's so HD they all (even Stephen) look awful. I don't know who signed off on it but it's terrible. To be clear, I'm criticising the editors/photoshoppers/whoever altered the picture, not the competitors.

“Hello , I’ve decided to dominate TV”. Yes, that must be exactly how Nadiya came to have her own shows.

I will not hear a word against Nadiya , not only is she clever, funny, and beautiful and there is no side to her she is also a real scene stealer. The beeb pounced on her, obviously ,(if they hadn't another channel would have).

It's down to the BBC who have perhaps been over enthusiastic with her. Better to ration her so she's not too over exposed.

I'd like to see more Nadiya, TBH. She doesn't seem to enjoy the Cooking Showdown that much. It'd be nice to see her on something else that lets her chat to people and cook more, like her show about going round all theBrexit-filled parts of the UK to discover regional food.

I'm going to miss the final because I have to pick up dd from trick'r treating in another village and drop two of her friends off home even further away, dang, and our TV is so ancient it won't record. This was badly timed by Channel 4.

Stephen is obviously a very good baker but he is a bit hit and miss. The other woman is sweet though shouldn't be in the final.

What an utter fanny. Honestly, can you imagine how many times they must have been warned about not revealing anything on social media.

I found out the result earlier. I won't bother watching now as this person was my least favourite. The standard of this series has been much lower quality than previous years by miles.
