What are people's opinions on the new Bake Off so far? And yes, I know we're only a few minutes in. IMO the new presenters feel a bit like they're trying a little too hard to be Mel and Sue.

Julia quit her job? Why? Did she think she would become famous or something? I like her but that's really arrogant. Even previous winners didn't all quit their jobs.

She was quite silly to quit her job for this. Especially as from the sounds of things, she met some bloke on holiday, married him and moved to a completely different country when basically just out of her teens. Other contestants have managed it with quite stressful jobs and families.

I haven't read anything about Julia quitting her job, but for l you know she had hated the job and wanted to leave anyway. Maybe they wouldn't let her have the time off and she decided to just leave. It depends what he job was and the background.

Mostly a lurker here. Just read in tv listing that this episode was filmed the hottest ever in the tent. It makes me reluctant to watch. When this happened before the baking gets spoilt and/or contestants are very hot and distracted. The baking doesn’t reflect the work or abilities of the contestants. I personally don’t think it makes it more exciting or better tv.

Does anyone else feel this way

I like seeing them under pressure and how they react and deal with things beyond their direct control.

It's still a level playing field, its hot for everyone

Gutted Yan has gone, I really liked her. No idea how Stacey has lasted so long, I think she should have gone last week.

I have a feeling she’ll make the final though, just doing enough each week to go through.

I’m liking Sophie and Liam, they’re such good bakers.
