What are people's opinions on the new Bake Off so far? And yes, I know we're only a few minutes in. IMO the new presenters feel a bit like they're trying a little too hard to be Mel and Sue.

AWW I'm disappointed. Stacey should have gone. She is so loudly competitive, I reckon she's one of those mums who shout "kill them!!!" while fist-pumping at their child's football matches.

Reinforced how much I love the new line-up.

I'm sad to see Julia go - she was so likeable. I'd have picked Stacey (also likeable, but I felt she cocked things up more). I feel strangely proud of Liam - he brings out some maternal instinct in me.

I'm glad Stacey survived.
I can't warm to Sophie at all - not sure why.
Stephen is a bit style over substance.
Kate is hit or miss. I like her though.

Stacey should have gone, she didn’t do at all well. Very suprised at how upset Sandi was. Love Liam. Hope he wins. Steve just irritates me.

Sandi was very sweet getting upset tonight. We only see an hour, the judges, presenters and constestants spend two days a week (I think) filming so they must get quite close.

I declared that I wouldn't watch it on channel 4. I even signed the petition! Blush. But I love it.

I can't warm to Sophie either. I barely noticed her until last week. Now she's gone all ultra head girl. She was gutted that she got second in the technical.

I really like the new line up . Stacey gets a lot more flack on twitter than any other contestants and it does come across as if she is the outsider of the group . There was an interesting still taken from last week when everybody was either commiserating with the loser and congratulating the star baker and she was just sitting on her stool - very odd. A lot of it could be down to editing but I'm not sure why they'd do that .

I hope Yan gets star baker soon. She makes some amazing things every week. She helps the others out and she is so funny. I really like her - her equations and measuring, like Andrew in the last series, just great.

I was hoping Yan would get star baker last night. I think she's v underrated, and she comes across as lovely and down to earth. That see through poppy thing she made last week looked amazing

That's interesting floral. To me Stacey seems an abrasive personality, I thought she was quite rude to Julia when she was telling her the pie should be made on the outside of the tin and that Julia should change it. Poor Julia!

I liked seeing Steven helping Kate, and Yan helping Julia and Steven. I remember Selasi from last year was always helping people to finish their bakes. It's what the show is about.

I think Yan missed out on star baker because she 'cheated' on the hand raised pie. If she had taken the gamble, like Liam, she might have got it this time, but no way were they going to give SB so someone who didn't hand raise their pie, no matter how good it turned out.

I like Liam and yes wished Stacey had gone, shame about Julia I loved her expressions! reminded me of the ones Nadia used to pull when confused about the technical bakes.
I would love to be Sophie "I don't do public emotions" she's always so unflustered and a good baker but in real life I am more like Stacey all red and harassed and i'm only making cheese on toast.

Just watched it and was so pleased for Liam, absolutely deserves a star baker. I was also sooo sad for Julia who I don't think deserves to go. I was totally with Sandi almost in tears. Julia is lovely and the show will be sadder without her.

Still, Yan has risen up into my top 2 with Liam. She is also lovely and I really enjoy her ambition even if her creations don't always work out. Grin

Yes I felt sorry for Julia too but she's not an all rounder, her bread was brilliant but not much else.

Oh those pastas de natas!!!!! I loved Pru n' Paul saying the calories were worth it!!!! DH cut up the queue (which stretched round the building) in Lisbon, Cascais? By the river front, to get in for some and was allowed!

Yes, I think you are probably right about Julia to some extent ppeat, but I do think Stacey is consistently a bit rubbish....though possibly I am just a bit biased due to my slight Julia crush Wink

Julia was robbed IMO. Stacey really ballsed it up and has been scraping through the last few. weeks. I really can't warm to the brunette head girl.
