While I'm here, where the hell is Missandei? Haven't seen her for weeks.

DreamingOfAFullNightsSleep · 21/08/2017 23:20

I have always loved Aryria and rooted for her, but now... I see what everyone is saying about her having failed due to being rooted in anger. I would be delighted if she and Sansa were working to outsmart LF but I feel that's clutching at straws.

Also, undead dragon- I for one did not see that coming.

JAPAB · 21/08/2017 23:27

Episode 2 - cried when Nymeria rejected Arya

That wasn't Nymeria was it? Arya says after the wolf left 'it wasn't you' IIRC.

My prediction is that with control of a dragon, the night king is going to bring down the Wall.

My prediction is that if Jon and Arya reuinite in the final episode you will cry :)

On another note, mentioned yesterday the South Park quote about direwolves ('they're like wolves...only dire'). Also liked their mickey take of the GoT theme (although I am not quite sure where the idea of GRRM having that particular obsession comes from)

RJnomore1 · 21/08/2017 23:29

We now ask each other if we are ready to settle down for tv on Monday nights with the immortal words "Weiner wiener?"

MarvellousMonsters · 21/08/2017 23:34

JAPAB, it was Nymeria, the comment 'that's not you' was referring to her now being a Wild alpha female with her own pack, not a domestic dog.

crazymissdaisy · 21/08/2017 23:39

JAPAB I think that when Arya says"but that's not you now" to Nymeria it means "but you are no longer a pup who comes to heel and follows me to Winterfell". it's meant to echo what Ned said to Arya in season 1, I can't remember the exact quotation but something about Arya growing up to be a lady sitting in a castle embroidering "but that's not you now".

Surely Arya planted that satchel of faces? It MUST be a double bluff between her and Sansa to outsmart Little finger? She surely would not just leave it under her bed like that? If it's not a trap, then it's a crap storyline and I'm cross.

Will Viseriombie breathe ice?

ChevalierTialys · 21/08/2017 23:40

@MarvellousMonsters thats what I assumed she meant by that as well, it wouldnt be her anymore to return to being 'owned', actually the same as Arya. I don't see her returning to domestication in the long term either.

@JAPAB pretty sure I will cry at the final episode, although I'll try to woman-up and get a grip Grin

TizzyDongue · 21/08/2017 23:51

I'm feeling all lost and bewildered - feel like the writers are single handedly (in a two person single way) undoing the characters George RRRRRRRR Martin created. They are all a bit meh this season, like someone let the air out of them a bit.

And I know that GoT hasn't exactly been believable in a reality way but it still made sense and there was attention to detail in a fantasy sense way - the super fast travel, the undead managing to chain up and tow a dead Dragon.

Don't get me wrong I'm still liking it but it's just not quite itself anymore (and I feel daft be because it was the minute attention to detail about absolutely every blooming thing that made the books tedious to me).

Anyway agree Arya needs to cop onto herself and stop being stroppy little sister like she's not had any training of any sort and stop being taken for a fool by a character whose just not really done much except talk like he's a sore throat.

TizzyDongue · 21/08/2017 23:51

I do like it really.

RJnomore1 · 21/08/2017 23:52

According to twitter the chains were in hardhome in season 5?

gincamelbak · 22/08/2017 00:00

I really enjoyed the bro-yomp, happy bonding on the winter walk. Especially Tormund talking about making giant babies with Brienne. It made me feel a bit giddy and romantic tbh.

And yes to Beric's voice.

Where the he'll was Benjen hiding? Did he get his flaming chain from the same undead hardware shop as the night king? There's a hefty amount of ironware lying around beyond the wall.

Arya is just a waste of time now. I hope she's got a plan, or more of a plan than skulking about insulting her sister. Sake Sansa, use your voice and tell her to shut her mouth.

Tyrion is a bit of a rubbish hand, isn't he? Unless his approach is to get Dany to do the exact opposite of his advice? He's fucked up nearly every time now.

Gendry superfast was great. Loved Tormund teasing him.

But I am still pretty scared of the night king. It's the stillness that gets me.

And now he has a dragon.

SarfEast1cated · 22/08/2017 00:40

Just a thought about Sansa sending Brienne off - was that because LF said that B was honour-bound to defend Sansa and Arya? Maybe Sansa has a plan to get rid of Arya?

Arya is being a right brat at the mo, so I'd be pretty happy to have her out of the picture.

Tyrion is worrying me a bit, he still seems too worried about the death of the Tarlys, I fear he's going to turn on Danerys and side with his Cersei and Jaime...

WestleyAndButtockUp · 22/08/2017 00:55

That stupid plan to capture a zombie so as to get Cersei on-side:

Why should she be impressed? She's already got a massive zombie at the head of her Queensguard.

coriliavijvaad · 22/08/2017 05:25

SarfEast1cated that's my theory too - Littlefinger carefully emphasised that Brienne is sworn to protect both sisters and would intervene if either planned to harm the other. Sansa is sending Brienne away because she plans to harm Arya.

How can Jon be immune to ice like Dany is immune to Fire if he is Targaryan?

nigelsbigface · 22/08/2017 06:38

Really if Arya wasn't being such a tool she could have explained her face swapping skills to Sansa and gone to kings landing on cersies invite with a Sansa face on, popped up, killed Cersie, job done. Or do you need to be dead for her to have tor face, I can't remember.

JustRosieHere · 22/08/2017 06:43

I am finding it difficult to suspend belief that a raven can get somewhere so quickly. I was happy to believe they are cutting out journey scenes because we don't need to see more character development but that was far fetched. However in the main I did enjoy the episode. I was so sure that Tormund would die but the dragon was even worse. It's probably the worst death emotionally since Hodor.

Does anyone else find Maisie Williams a really wooden actress? That monologue was painful to watch. I think this is sometimes the issue when people start long running shows as young children. Sansa outacts her in every scene. It's a shame because I used to enjoy Aryas character but the more dialogue she's given the more I dislike it.

rainforestsloth · 22/08/2017 06:49

It's the first time I noticed Beric's sexy voice as well 😍 Loved the Hound and Tormund. I am on holiday and spent 1 hour outside a restaurant in the wind using their wifi so I could watch - my husband thought I was crazy.

MyOtherProfile · 22/08/2017 06:51

Or do you need to be dead for her to have tor face, I can't remember.
Don't know. But I do wonder if when she changes face does she morph into their shape and size too? Otherwise she could do like you say and then Cersei would be wondering why Sansa was half a foot shorter.

MyOtherProfile · 22/08/2017 06:52

Rainforest the hound and tormund were the highlight of this whole series I think.

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 22/08/2017 06:58

I'm feeling all lost and bewildered - feel like the writers are single handedly (in a two person single way) undoing the characters George RRRRRRRR Martin created.

I totally agree. Some characters (Dany and Jon) vaguely resemble their book counterparts. Some, like Tyrion and Cersei, are very different. Some important book characters such as Tormund and the Hound have been utterly butchered and their important character journeys utterly destroyed in order to make way for humour of the lowest level. It's a shame. It may be 'the greatest show on earth' but as an adaptation of a book it falls very short.

I know I come across as a bit of a lone voice in this, but it still irks.

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 22/08/2017 07:00

Having the face isn't even necessary in show-canon. Remeber how Jaqen wore Arya's face back in season 6?

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 22/08/2017 07:00

Actually, that might have been season 5.

ZacharyQuack · 22/08/2017 07:01

I think the body has to be dead before Arya can have their face. There was a scene at the House of B&W when Jaqen was cutting the face off a corpse. And the Waif's dead bloody face ended up in the display case. So Arya wearing Sansa's face would involve a spot of sistercide.

ElenaGreco123 · 22/08/2017 07:05

RJ The Nights King is thought to be a Stark. He was created way be before Aegon's landing in Westeros.

AryaUnderfootNowPrefersSansa · 22/08/2017 07:17

Why is Benjen the only person with enough sense to have a horse?

What happened to all those 'sure-footed garrons' that the Night's Watch have?
