No, I didn't really think that much of the Ed Sheeran part, but it could have been showing that Arya hasn't turned into a completely cold blooded killer?
I suppose they'd already shown that when she didn't kill any of the women at the twins though, so it was a bit pointless

WankYouForTheMusic · 17/07/2017 13:19

Ed Sheeran's song was in the book, apparently.

FinallyHere · 17/07/2017 13:29

Ive been following the story (just about) and hoping that Daenerys and Jon will make a match of it and be established as the power couple. [sad face]

AdalindSchade · 17/07/2017 14:41

Daenarys and Jon are aunt and nephew!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/07/2017 14:43

The Targaryens would think nothing of that, but I agree the rest of us might find it a bit much!

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 14:48

Aunt and nephew are considered distantly related for targaryens!! Grin

AdalindSchade · 17/07/2017 15:45

Yeah but Jon isn't a targaryen! I mean his bio father was but he was raised a stark in the honourable north. He couldn't just get down with incest because the targaryens thought it was ok.

SootSprite · 17/07/2017 15:46

If Rhaegar and Leanna were secretly married then Jon has the better claim, not sure how well that would go down with Danny.

I was disappointed that Arya is headed south, I really wanted her to go home and see Sansa. I'd like her to be the one to kill Littlefinger. I can't see them killing Cersei off before s8.

I reckon Euron brings Yara or Ellaria as his gift. I don't think they'll bring the dragon horn into the storyline. He was really funny and oddly endearing. Utter lunatic, but oddly charming Hmm.

I loved seeing the giant white walkers, I'd also like to see one of the dragons turned ❄️

SootSprite · 17/07/2017 15:47

Dany, not Danny. Fucking autocorrect Blush

AdalindSchade · 17/07/2017 16:03

Maybe Arya doesn't know that Jon and Sansa are at winderfell. Or maybe she cares more about revenge than family? Her speech as walder though would suggest family's loyalty is her motivating force.
Rhaegar and Lyanna could only have been married polygamously which may not be recognised

ElspethFlashman · 17/07/2017 16:12

I think she probably thinks reunions can wait. And of course she may turn around. Cos I think it's highly unlikely Cersei is going to die any time soon. I'd bet Arya gets sidetracked.

I actually FFd through the Ed Sheeran stuff cos it was so cringe. He obviously had to be in shot the whole time, ugh it was so bad.

I don't understand the Hound thing. I thought he stabbed the Farmer dead last time? No? He said something about how they'd be dead soon anyway? How did they wind up on the bed?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/07/2017 16:42

Isn't there a fan theory that Tyrion is actually a Targaryen because his mother (Tywin's wife) had some sort of liaison with the mad king? In which case there would be three Targaryens to ride the three dragons. I can't remember as it's a while since I read the books but I believe this has some sort of significance in terms of echoing what the Targaryens did when they first came over to Westeros to conquer it, riding on dragons.

SootSprite · 17/07/2017 17:00

The Hound robbed the farmer and his daughter, after eating Sally's rabbit stew and staying the night. In the morning Arya was woken by the noise of Sandor beating up the farmer and stealing his silver. He said they'd be dead by winter. Turns out he was right, they starved and then cuddled up and the farmer ended his daughter's life with the knife to ease her suffering,

The farmer he killed was the one who was sat outside having been raided and gutted. That was a mercy killing. That's where the heart is.

Not that I've watched his scenes more than a thousand times once Grin

Middleoftheroad · 17/07/2017 17:04

Sorry but I can't stand Ed Sheeran. I did enjoy Ian Brown in Harry Potter!

I enjoyed the opening reverse Red Wedding and want to know what will happen with Jorah. Will Sam 'release' him?

The Hound had some good moments too.

I don't read the books (read a couple but am hopeless) and would like to know more about the Alice C/ Karstark story if somebody can fill me in though this will involve spoilers for others...

HandbagKrabby · 17/07/2017 17:17

I enjoyed this episode, lots going on, lots of main characters, lots felt like it was going somewhere. Ed Sheeran really grated, he even had the same haircut as normal and was gurning at the group as they were singing like a Sunday school teacher. I was waiting for one of them to try it on with Arya and for her to kill them all, I think I might possibly have preferred that. Not sure what that says about me :)

HorseWhole · 17/07/2017 18:13

That was absolutely brilliant!

So many thoughts but most of them already covered in previous posts.

One thing I am confused about is Jon's parents. I had always thought something completely different since reading the books years ago.

Why is it thought that he is Targaryen?

HorseWhole · 17/07/2017 18:15

I had always hoped this too!

Daenerys and Jon will make a match of it and be established as the power couple.

How have I missed that they are related?! Hmm Confused

AdalindSchade · 17/07/2017 18:22

Did you not watch last series?
Jon is the son of Rhagar targaryan and lyanna stark

HorseWhole · 17/07/2017 18:27

I thought it was Robert Baratheon and Lyanna!

I think I must have fallen asleep at a very key moment or several.

SootSprite · 17/07/2017 18:41

I was confused in the opening credits - Cersei is proclaimed queen, 'Cersei of the house Lannister' yet Kings Landing is still showing the Baratheon stag as its sigil. Did I miss something? Why isn't it the Lannister lion?

SafetyBird · 17/07/2017 18:44

Also are we to really believe Euron and his men built those ships in a matter of weeks?? Did I miss something about that?

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 18:53

Has whoever suggested the meteor (sun rising in the west) noticed and also twigged at the ball (apparently it's an astrolabe) flying through the sky?

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 18:54

...in the opening credits?
