Honestly, the episode and script were poor compared to previous seasons. I'll watch any GOT content, but in comparison to even the most Dorne heavy episode it was poor.
Can you imagine that Sam shit montage taking place in any other season? It was unnecessary, and why bother to put something together that you know nobody is ever going to sit through it twice?
Lyanna Mormont has fallen victim to being a tumblr Feminist Icon. Her first scene on the show last season was perfect. Now they have her verbally slapping the lord of another house while he is in the middle of apologizing and he just looks at the floor like a kicked puppy.
The Hound had lost his wit. His lines were especially fan-ficcy. "He's upset. What should he say here? I know "bald cunt", lol!" And he is getting increasingly Scottish.
And I think both he and Tormund are overusing that growl in their voices. In the Winterfell hall meeting Tormund sounded like Papa Lazarou "We're the Night's Watch NAAAOOOWWWW..."
The Arya/cuddly Lannister soldiers scene looks worse every time I watch it - how come this particular group are so innocent, was it their first week on the job? If so, why are they being sent alone to the Freys? I get that the producers wanted to do something nice for Arya by booking Ed Sheeran (and giving him those blatant close-ups) but the rest of us didn't need to see it.
Wun-Wun seems to be a Wight (the blind eye) which is bollocks. He died inside Winterfell and would have been one of the first ones burned.
And there is no way Sansa would argue with Jon in public like that. She wasn't suddenly dropped in Westeros from a spaceship, she understands their social systems. The only reasonable excuse is that she's doing it deliberately to try and protect Jon from Littlefinger, make him think he's successfully manipulating her before she can get rid of him. Also, Jon is stupid to not investigate the houses who betrayed him. How does he know those two children aren't surrounded by dozens of adults still plotting against him?
But aside from those few things, I loved it
