Was there anybody who's still alive we didn't see in this episode apart from Olenna and the Sandsnakes? I assume we're going to stay in Westeros now and not go back to Braavos and all points east.

Looking forward to a bit more of Davos in future weeks. Delighted to see Lady Mormont back. What a girl!

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 10:10

Just gendry that I can think of

I wonder why Sansa isn't learning at least some basic fighting Confused

Wobblebeans · 17/07/2017 10:11

We didn't see melisandre (sp?) aka the red woman, or Yara and Theon, can't think of any others

I was about to say Rickon Stark but then I remembered Sad

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/07/2017 10:12

Oh yes, Melisandre, Theon and poor old Gendry. We did see Yara briefly, didn't we? Or did I imagine that?

Wobblebeans · 17/07/2017 10:12

I can't remember, may have to watch it again tonight Grin

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 10:15

Gendry has rowed right around the world and is about to land back on dragonstone where he started Grin

Didn't see ghost, did we?

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 10:15

Yeah I might watch it again later

Underthemoonlight · 17/07/2017 10:21

Brilliant opening for this season with Ayra she's really come into her element. I was hoping she wasn't going to kill those nice soldiers as it demonstrates they are just people fighting someone else's war and they were so nice towards her offering food and wine.

I think Sansa can be questioning things in the same way her mother questioned Rob. I think she is concerned because both her father and Rob died for the choices they made and doesn't want the same fate for Jon plus he's the only real threat minus daenaries against cersi, she wants her revenge. I also think she thinks she should be leader though.

Exciting seeing daenaries finally arrives. I will say it was brilliant to see the hound face the coincidences of his actions when seeing the dead bodies of the man and child he stole from I hope this will be the start of some redeemable qualities that are slowing coming out and him fighting those demons that clearly haunt him.

I love the interaction with Ceseri and Jamie and the bittersweet when she knows tyrion is daenaries hand. You can see everyone closing in on them and they have to extend their alliances with those they don't fully trust.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 10:22

I cried when Dany landed

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/07/2017 10:25

I am really, really hoping that now Arya's back on Westeros she is reunited with Nymeria, who has presumably spent the last few years roaming the Riverlands or wherever it was she escaped to all those years ago. Is it just Ghost and Nymeria who are left? Sansa's died first (Lady, I think), then Robb's (what was he called?), then Rickon's (Shaggydog), then Bran's (Summer). Arya plus wolf would be unstoppable and it was Cersei who got Lady killed, so it would be great if Nymeria was in some way involved in Cersei's comeuppance. But I can't see them killing Cersei off till near the end of series 8, though. She is such a pivotal character.

Wobblebeans · 17/07/2017 10:30

Oh yeh, last time we saw Nymeria was S1 E2. That would be good to watch, I hope they go down that route

drinkswineoutofamug · 17/07/2017 10:41

Just watched it. Ed Sheran was bad. Painful even, and was that the lad from made in England?
And where's gendry popped up from , or will that be a flash back later on?

twattymctwatterson · 17/07/2017 10:50

Gendry is about to come back with the biggest arms in Westeros. Is it just me or did Euron get hot in a camp pirate kind of way?

MaryPoppinsPenguins · 17/07/2017 10:58

Can't wait!! As soon as DH gets home we can watch it Grin

WankYouForTheMusic · 17/07/2017 11:25

Oh that was Jorah? I did not get that!

The bit at the start was well done but sort of cartoony. Could see it coming a mile off. It was ok this once but I hope they're not going to overuse the Arya disguise thing too often. Otherwise it just gets ridiculous.

Hope to see some Olenna soon.

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 11:44

Who does everyone want to survive until the end?
no doubt jinxing them to die next week

Pinkkahori · 17/07/2017 11:54

I'm also thinking Euron intends the head of Tyrion as Cersei's gift. Or maybe a Sand Snake. Cersei really hates them.

AdalindSchade · 17/07/2017 11:57

I didn't see the arya/frey thing at all!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/07/2017 11:59

Pinkkahori, good thinking. I'd say the Sand Snakes are expendable now.

Beyond, I know with GOT you have to expect the unexpected all the time, but surely to goodness we can count on a few people to make it all the way to the end. My money would be on Daenerys, Jon and Tyrion to be in the final episode of series 8 (not necessarily all alive by the final credits, mind you). I'd be a touch more cautious about Cersei but I think she's likely to make it to nearly the end. Jaime might be in a more vulnerable position but surely he'll meet up with Brienne again at some point. I hope so. Not sure about Arya, Sansa and Littlefinger. Arya is such a fantastic character they could get a lot of mileage out of her, but on the other hand she takes so many risks. Sad Davos is one of my favourite characters and really ought to survive to the end and become Hand of the King or Queen, but who knows?

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/07/2017 12:01

AdalindSchade, do you mean you didn't see it coming? I did, but only after the first minute or so. I did wonder at first if it was some kind of flashback.

WankYouForTheMusic · 17/07/2017 12:05

Cersei is likely to bite it sooner or later because actually, underneath it all, she's fairly thick. The slaughter at the end of series 6 was ostensibly very smart but it's obviously going to have repercussions.

AdalindSchade · 17/07/2017 12:05

Yes I didn't see it coming! I was thinking how weird it was that arya had let walder live and why he didn't seem bothered that his sons had just been cooked Blush

Pinkkahori · 17/07/2017 12:12

Sansa vs Jon? I'm Team Jon all the way. Sansa is motivated by a need for revenge and for power. All perfectly understandable considering what has happened so far but Jon's motives are totally unselfish. He wants to protect humanity from the White Walkers. Very noble and in a battle between good and evil I am rooting for good but it's GoT and if we have learned anything so far it is that being good isn't enough.

SumThucker · 17/07/2017 12:15

Ed Sheeran Confused

Loved Jim Broadbent's beard. Hope nothing happens to Jaime. Don't trust Sansa.

SafetyBird · 17/07/2017 12:54

The Ed Sheeran thing was awkward as fuck. The opening was brilliant and I couldn't believe they have white walker giants!
