I thought it was a great start, Dragonstone castle was awesome.

Apart from the bit with Ed Sheeran which was a bit embarrassing

sweetkitty · 17/07/2017 03:12

Exciting

WestleyAndButtockUp · 17/07/2017 03:15

[Pedantic] Any functioning castle would have lots of people living there.

BraveBear · 17/07/2017 03:18

I thought it was very "feel-good" for Game of Thrones. A soft opener. The only thing that came near to giving me a start was the Wight Giant getting close to the screen!

(I hope they despatch the Sand Snakes soon and as quickly as they did the Freys...)

Oddlookingeyes · 17/07/2017 03:19

I kept expecting people to leap out too westley especially as Jamie correctly called it as most likely landing spot

WickedLazy · 17/07/2017 03:19

Jorah grabbing Sam scared the bejesus out of me.

AdalindSchade · 17/07/2017 07:12

I don't understand why dragonstone was empty. I know stannis was the last incumbent but would cersei really have left it uninhabited?

WingMirrorSpider · 17/07/2017 07:19

Yes I thought that too. Plus everyone just let Daenerys walk up the beach alone. You'd think they'd have sent a few unsullied up first to check for any ambushes.

Also I was one of the sad people who looked at the season 7 'spoiler' on Reddit last year. Ep 1 summary was pretty spot on so I'm assuming the rest of it is too. Wish I hadn't read it now Sad

WinifredAtwellsOtherPiano · 17/07/2017 07:31

I thought that was lovely. Very quiet and not too rushed. Glad I'd finished my porridge before Sam's scenes.

I also was a bit Hmm about empty Dragonstone, though I am pushed to name who exactly would have the time and man power to have occupied it. But it did make me wonder about who is going to staff it if Dany moves in. I'm sure the Unsullied are a dab hand at dusting - but that just makes me wonder how much food Dany has brought with her. Provisions for that massive army have to become an issue vvv soon.

MyOtherProfile · 17/07/2017 07:57

Before I just a gut to watch, how much Hound do we see? Grin

MyOtherProfile · 17/07/2017 08:01

Just a gut? Bust a gut!

Ilovewillow · 17/07/2017 08:13

Can't wait although I won't be watching at 2.00 am! Eek!!

WingMirrorSpider · 17/07/2017 08:16

MyOther there's quite a lot of Hound 🐶

SheGotOffThePlane · 17/07/2017 08:17

The one flipping night I don't have any sort of insomnia! I slept right through and now have to wait until I send the dc to bed early to watch Grin

AlistairSim · 17/07/2017 08:24

Lots of Hound, you say? I may watch it after all...

Giggorata · 17/07/2017 08:26

I am just wondering what sort of a gift Eurion (sp?) will return with..... bet it's a dead somebody, or bits of somebody/ies.....

WingMirrorSpider · 17/07/2017 08:39

I got the impression that Euron's gift to Cersei would by Tyrion.

AdalindSchade · 17/07/2017 08:55

That's what I assumed or daenarys

Just watched - quite liked the pace for a first episode - just catching up to where everyone is.

Euro is a right old pantomime villain isn't he? I half expected him to have a twirly moustache!

So do we presume everyone knows about Cersei blowing up the sept? When Jon and Sansa received the raven from her they weren't surprised it was from Cersei, first of her name etc so they must know she's queen? Same with Arya - she said she was going to kill the queen so must know who the queen is. Nobody's even shocked or bothered Confused!

Gasp0deTheW0nderD0g · 17/07/2017 09:43

Just watched on NowTV. I thought that was absolutely fantastic, especially the bit before the opening titles.

Thanks to whoever worked out/knew that the scabby arm was Jorah's! I hadn't worked that out at all and was puzzled by it.

I imagine everybody does know Cersei blew up the Sept. Can't see why any of the other contenders would be bothered by that as they have no interest in the High Sparrow or the Tyrells and will be pleased that the Baratheons/Lannisters are now down to the clearly deranged Cersei and the maimed Jaime. I couldn't remember whether Olenna had survived but Cersei mentioned her so she has. Good. Terrific character, can't seen enough of Diana Rigg.

SootSprite · 17/07/2017 09:44

Some bits were brilliant (arya opening, euron, hound burying the family) but some didn't sit right (ed sheeran, hound seeing pictures in the flames).

I was also a bit Hmm that poor Meera's been dragging Bran around for years yet it took two Nights Watch guys to pull him Grin

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 09:44

That was fantastic!!

I assume the gift will be the horn?

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 17/07/2017 09:45

Yeah, trust it to be the only night I'm not up with insomnia too Grin

Wobblebeans · 17/07/2017 09:56

I got up to watch it first thing, and thought it was absolutely brilliant.
I especially enjoyed the part before the opening credits, "the north remembers", and Brienne and Pod in Winterfell".
Tormund so wants her Grin
