Well, I started watching Andy's match yesterday at the beginning of the fourth set - just when it all fell apart for him.

And now the same again for Jo. It looked an even match when I switched the tv on. Ok, Venus had won the first set but only 6-4. Now though.......

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2017 16:10

So many nervy shots from Jo.

bookbook · 13/07/2017 16:11

yep - inevitable

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2017 16:13

Disappointed in Jo not waiting for Venus, tbh.

Venus has such a great smile.

Hopefully should be an excellent final.

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/07/2017 16:14

Yep, bad luck Jo. But kind of impressive re Venus. I missed the other semi final and don't know Muguruza. Can Venus beat her, do you think?

bookbook · 13/07/2017 16:15

yes, I find that rather disrespectful - a lot of them do though these days , sadly

JaneJeffer · 13/07/2017 16:15

Venus is amazing and with all her health issues.

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/07/2017 16:15

Her hand shake wasn't particularly warm and gracious either. I imagine she is gutted, maybe even on the verge of tears? I know I would be.

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 13/07/2017 16:16

I think Jo was trying to get off court before howling. She was kind enough however stop to sign autographs (which Venus didn't).

Dumbledoresgirl · 13/07/2017 16:17

Has Virginia Wade had a facelift? She looks amazing. At least, her face does. Her neck is more reflective of her age.

The80sweregreat · 13/07/2017 16:37

well, thats the end for British tennis players! they were so positive too that she might win..
Venus all the way now i think.
Feds for the mens. But i know nothing.

Raahh · 13/07/2017 16:41

Necks and hands always give away age, I think. My mother has been stocking up on what she calls 'scraggy neck cream' for years Grin. It's all about elasticity, I imagine.

I missed most of the end of the match due to taking DD2 to Rainbows.

Wasn't as close as I expected.

Onwards, and upwards Jo.

I really want Garbine to win still.

Don't care if she was feeling like howling - it was rude of Jo to rush off. She's gone down in my estimation, now. And I did not like the Jo-Ko logo on her shoes - I think you need to have won a slam to have something like that.

Raahh · 13/07/2017 16:47

Heather Watson is still in the mixed, and Jamie at the moment, I think, 80s

True magi. And you need to have the slickness of Feds. Only he can pull off the monogrammed clothing!

The80sweregreat · 13/07/2017 17:16

Yep, she should have scribbled a few autographs.
I hope heather and jamie do well.

Raahh · 13/07/2017 18:22

Maybe Jo's ungracious behaviour is her Aussie side coming out?
Grin
Seriously though, I hope it doesn't take her too long to get over the defeat.

Good first set, but overall, another disappointing semi. It was better than the 1st one though!

It's such a shame when the final matches don't live up to earlier ones. The women's tournament has been excellent in general, but you wouldn't know or probably believe that, going on the back of the semis.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2017 18:33

As a Kiwi, I'm up for a dash of Aussie bashing. Wink

Yy, Creme. It was overall a disappointing pair of semi-finals, despite the first set of this match.

Raahh · 13/07/2017 19:28

Well, hopefully, tomorrow will be better.

Although Federer has been on great form, and I've not seem much of Berdych this year, so that could be quite straightforward.

The Cilic/Querrey match is two big servers, and they have previously played in the second longest match in Wimbledon history. I want Cilic to win, but I hope it's a good match.

The Roger match is up second. I'd prefer it to be the other way around. A (possibly)nice long match for a Friday evening. Otherwise the Roger/Berdy match could be a disappointing end to it. Sorry , Tomas. Grin

JaneJeffer · 13/07/2017 20:52

I wouldn't write Tomas off yet. He got to the final in 2010!

Raahh · 13/07/2017 21:00

He did, but it wasn't the greatest final.

And it's a long time since 2010, as I am being made aware, as I have just had to send pictures of dd1's first day at primary school, for her year 6 leaving assembly Grin. Sad

And dd2 was born in September 2010. So in a way it feels like 5 minutes ago. Grin

Mixed doubles is a blessed relief, so smiley and more relaxed. Hingis was delightful this afternoon when the all the hit bounced off the post.
I love Heather the most. She is so posh and knows how to swear.Grin

SueMacartney · 13/07/2017 22:24

Watson and Kontinen together are great! Did you see today when she hit something out at a crucial point and jumped up and down in a kind of stomp? And he immediately mimicked her Grin
