We are now thinking Buzzards is a spelling mistake- and it should be blizzard Grin.

Still prefer Willy- willy. Grin

Garbine is looking very strong, but Rybarikova is playing better now.

This sounds unkind, but I'm always a bit uncertain about unknown players reaching the semis or finals of the slams, as soon many times, they fall apart with nerves. I'm always pleased to be proved wrong, but it doesn't look like it today in this match. A lot of people who aren't massive tennis fans tune in for the semis and finals and it doesn't do the sport justice, if it's one-sided matches.

I really hope Magdalena can sort it out for the 2nd set.

QuiQuaiQuod · 13/07/2017 13:35

I wish they wouldn't keep going on about the womens field being wide open cos superwoman S erenas not about. Hmm theres no guarantee shed have won, other defending champs have been known to go out in 1st rounds- Hingis springs to mind.

Yes, agree, Sampras, I found was so boring to watch. lolloping across the court with his tongue hanging out.. he did have a great serve and the ''slam dunk'' but that's it really.

Ah, was in Wimbledon Heaven yesterday watching inv doubkles- Cedric Pioline, with the perma smile. Henri Leconte, always hilarious.

Unfortunatley I do find Andrew Castle atteractive in tennis clothes but only till he opens his gob! but he wasin the match too along with one of other all time faves, Michael Chang.

Bahrami playing today.

Ill be too nervous watching Konta/Williams. excuse typos, chunky fingers! Tennis

well done Andy for at least finishing the match. he is very gracious in defeat, cred where creds due. well done Sam but I find him a bit boring to watch too.

LOVE Cilic! love that intense look he has. how old is he? Im seriously Cougar with him Grin

bookbook · 13/07/2017 13:41

well, sat down to enjoy this - she does seem rather overawed, but glad she has at least won a game .I tend to agree Creme about non seeds -

Raahh · 13/07/2017 13:52

Qui Cilic is 28- so relatively young in terms of the top 10 these days GrinI'd love him to win the tournament. it's Fed's to lose- I don' t think Berdy will trouble him.

I never liked Sampras, on or off the court.

I don't mind Querrey, but he did beat Rafa in Acapulco, which is of course not on, so come on MarinGrin

Andrew Castle is just annoying. But Inverdale has managed to make him look intelligent his fortnight, which is quite something.

I agree that Ryb is looking totally overawed, but how could you not be? Mugs is playing a great game.

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2017 13:56

Maybe that's why they keep him around. Grin

I think that's a good point, Grouchy.Grin

I really hoped for a better second set after Magdalena finally got her name on the board.Sad

bookbook · 13/07/2017 14:13

oh dear - I do feel sorry for her, but in reality I want it to finish now

bookbook · 13/07/2017 14:16

I don't think the match will have helped Murguruza either though - not pushed enough to hone her game

DonkeysDontRideBicycles · 13/07/2017 14:18

Oh dear that was disappointing to watch - MR overwhelmed. Glad for Garbiñe though.

The80sweregreat · 13/07/2017 14:27

Oh well, it happens!! Ry has done so well up to now as well and she beat the 24th seed the other day when nobody expected her to.

Jo up next - The force of nature that is Venus Williams is no pushover.
I dont envy her at all.

Raahh · 13/07/2017 14:43

I have to go out now. Grrr.

OP posts:
JaneJeffer · 13/07/2017 14:44

You tell them Martina!

CremeEggThief · 13/07/2017 14:46

Go on, Martina!

Hope you don't have to be out too long, Raah.

I would love to see Venus win, but I will also be pleased for Jo if she beats her! Talk about on the fence! Whatever the score, it's bound to be the best of the women's semis, isn't it?

Raahh · 13/07/2017 14:56

I'm now listening in the car on the school run, bit in and out for the next 2 hours unfortunately.

They have just called Henman Hill, Konta's Corner, on 5live. Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 13/07/2017 14:57

creme I can't see this one being as one sided as the last match, no. Grin

OP posts:
DramaAlpaca · 13/07/2017 15:10

Well, that was a disappointingly quick first match. Just caught the last few games of it.

Hoping for a few more fireworks in Jo's match. I'm recording it to watch later hoping they don't switch channels but probably won't be able to resist checking the scores every so often.

The80sweregreat · 13/07/2017 15:20

Konta korner!

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2017 15:31

The hits in this match are massive.

Whoever wins, the final is going to be full of powerful tennis.

JaneJeffer · 13/07/2017 15:35

Venus' mom was looking very smug there Grin

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2017 15:55

I really would be happy for any of Jo, Venus or Muguruza to win. So that's a great position to be in, as a tennis fan.

bookbook · 13/07/2017 16:00

I don't see her winning from here tbh - she has the shots, but not that last bit of killer punch, but I will be glad to be disproved. The tennis is so much better than the last match

GrouchyKiwi · 13/07/2017 16:01

37 and still playing incredible tennis. She's great.
