Really pleased for Sascha, he's having a great year. Just needs to step up in the bigger events.

Now I just want Rafa to get back to number one, and I'll be a happy bunny. Roger and Rafa have both staged such great come backs really, they deserve to fight it out between them. Roger can't get there quite yet though.

Love the dog!

Dom has lost to Schwartzman- but he's not having a bad year himself, really, is he, he's had some very close results so far. he's definitely a big talent for a (relatively) short man Grin

(I can say that, as shorty) Grin

At the other side of the height scale- Delpo is back into the top 30- which is no bad thing. Grin

Henri Leconte will be on celebrity masterchef next week!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I never watch it, but Im sure as heck going to watch it now. Tennis.

JaneJeffer · 09/08/2017 17:53

OMG Qui he will be hilarious!

Raahh · 09/08/2017 21:50

Noooo ! Shapovalov been Delpo. That's not on. I like the new bloke, but it wasn't in my script.

Rafa up next - Vamos

Yay late night tennis! I think delPotro is injured in some way, he seemed to be walking with a bit of a limp. Hips? Grin

JaneJeffer · 10/08/2017 00:09

I don't know why but Rafa is looking extra hot tonight Blush

JaneJeffer · 10/08/2017 01:16

Watching Zverev/Gasquet highlights, wow 49 shot rally, so good!

JaneJeffer · 10/08/2017 01:34

Amazing tennis. Zverev is so good. I loved the little amused face he made at Gasquet when hawkeye didn't work and the call was allowed to stand. Some of the other players his age would probably have had a tantrum! I'm delighted to have a younger player to root for now that injuries are taking their toll on the older players but as long as Rafa's there, Vamos Rafa Grin

Raahh · 10/08/2017 09:37

I didn't get to 'watch' much, but I'm I frantically refreshed scores ( before falling asleep) Grin and I chuffed Rafa won.

I like Zverev a lot, he's got an older head on his shoulders. Maybe it's his brothers influence. He wants to be remembered for winning at that age ( as Rafa was) not throwing things.

Kyrgios having hip problems now. Peter Fleming said he needs to get his body in balance and that he probably needs to do that with his life Grin

Raahh · 11/08/2017 09:52

Woke up to find Rafa had lost to Shapovalov- I had a feeling that was coming. The young player has been player really well, and has the home crowd behind him. Massive scalp for a new player. Would be a huge thing for the tournament if he went on to win it now.

Rafa will have to wait til next week to get to number 1, which will happen!

OP posts:
Raahh · 11/08/2017 09:56

Of course, where it gets exciting, is that Roger will end tournament 10 points behind Rafa, if he wins.

And I am not sure either played Cinci last year ( post Olympics).

OP posts:
Raahh · 11/08/2017 10:29

D'uh!

Rafa goes to number one next week anyway, because Murray's points from last year drop! Grin

But ...Roger could over take him, if he wins this week and then does better in the early rounds.

I'm really tired today, and can't motivate myself to do anything. So , sitting here waffling about tennis rankings seems about my limit for now. Grin.

Oh Rafa had won the first set and I switched it off and went to bed. That's disappointing. Zverev was playing so well again and just seems so relaxed.

QuiQuaiQuod · 11/08/2017 16:37

Thing is with Andy, the British press will be hounding him again. He cant do anything right!

2 gold medals, 3 GS, 2 of them being Wimbledon, number one ranking in the world, and as soon as he slips -through injury, not by bad playing, theyll be all 'oh hes no good' or the ''oh hes Scottish again', not British''.

FFS.

Im missing all mthe tennis! Tennis. Hope Delpos okay. I luffs him.

Raahh · 11/08/2017 22:44

Qui problem is, he's not backed up becoming number one at all- he's only still there because Djok has had an equally shit year, and hasn't defended his titles. It's down to maths, not how he's been playing. He hasn't played well- he's lost early in a number of tournaments this year, he's only won one. It's not what people expect of the number 1.

He has had periods of illness- and I do wonder if the shingles he suffered from has affected him more than we know about. Can be a bugger to get rid of shingles. And regulars to these threads will know, that I am not a Murray fan Grin but I have wondered a few times this year if never really got over the virus. Look how Soderling was affected by mono/glandular fever . He took years to get over it, and it killed his career

And I too really hope Delpo can come back again. It's so sad- he was really doing so well last year- things seemed to be on he up. Sad

Mannarino is 4-0 up against Shapovalov - which might mean it goes here how it usually goes at Wimbledon with big winners against Rafa, they don't go any further.

Well, once again, I fell asleepGrin, but I am very pleased to see it will be a Sascha / Denis semi final. I'm just gutted I won't be able to actually free it.
Zverev is having a great year, a Shap will have the crowd behind him.

I have done something from my back. I did it in my sleep somehow last nightConfusedPainkillers are not working. I want to be asleep
Sad

I saw the Shapovalov match. Some amazing shots. The semi-final will be great.

I am here moaning at Soccer am. Why did they replace Helen Chamberlain? She was great and I love the way she dresses.

Take it easy Raahh. I think rest is best for muscles!

Raahh · 12/08/2017 11:38

Thanks jane I've no idea what I did- Confused . Went to bed Thursday, totally fine, and woke up yesterday in agony. It's got worse as the day / last night went on.

And I'm disappointed in myself that it is my back- and not my hip (for thread purposes) Grin

I find Diclac gel really good for aches. It's made in Ireland though so I don't know if you can get it in UK. It's diclofenac sodium so there might be another brand. Similar happened to me last week, woke up with pain from my shoulder right down to my elbow and my bicep was really sore. Maybe we are sleep tennis playing Grin

Raahh · 12/08/2017 14:00

Sleep tennis playing Grin

I certainly can't play when I'm awake Grin

OP posts:
Raahh · 13/08/2017 10:01

So a Roger /Sascha final then - I'm hoping Zverev can win. And Shapovalov will have raised his profile a lot with week. ( And given people more to talk about than maiming umpiresGrin)
