Watched last night but was very confused. Are they trying to show that Dermot is crazy because of genetics (a Slater through and through) in a nature vs nurture thing?

The only thing you need to know from EE is that Kat had twins when she was a child as a result of abuse by her uncle. She didn't know about the boy until recently and has gone to Redwater to find him.

I remember her having a baby (her sister?) many years ago when I did watch EE. Have they not been in EE since then?

They've been in and out of EE a few times. The boy is Zoe Slater's twin brother.

She didn't have Zoe in show they arrived when Zoe was teen and we told Kat was her sister.

She does have a 6/7 son and twin 2-3y olds though twins have been "left in Spain".

Though never cleared up how her mother who was with her in nun home didn't say about baby? Or who hushed that up. As nun we met about 2y ago remember Kat about her then twins as Kat was unaware she had 2!

I don'the have many of the names but...Agnes is the mother of the blonde woman and black haired woman. Grandmother to the kissing cousins.
The female guard is married to the farmer and Agnes is great grandmother to their three children.
Dermot's mother iris "mouse" is Agnes' niece (first cousin to the American and black hair woman). Guy with the beard who appears sporadically is married to the black haired woman. Guy who runs the pub is Dermot's father (but didn't know he was not his biological son).

My god this was dire! So much so I felt the need to warn people. I gave up after episode one, life's too short.
