Anyone going to watch it tonight?

As they search for Zoe's male twin?

OP posts:
troodiedoo · 19/05/2017 06:11

I think they were going for a broadchurch vibe. Sinister vicar anyone?

Maybe the plot twist is that agnes is really a ghost Grin

The80sweregreat · 19/05/2017 06:42

Where were the twins? only saw a few minutes last night, so going to watch later on.
Agree that Alfie looked a bit odd!

youarenotkiddingme · 19/05/2017 06:57

They said they'd left twins behind because they were too little

Spottyladybird · 19/05/2017 07:34

I enjoyed it, it felt like reading Fanfic- characters you know with a backstory you know but in a different location. It was good.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2017 07:39

I thought Kat's over familiarity with people she'd barely met was cringeworthy and totally unbelievable. Leaving behind the twins was unbelievable too I thought. They're visiting Ireland, not Syria.

hollyisalovelyname · 19/05/2017 07:39

I thought it was very 'Oirish'
The hackney car being pushed up the hill.
The 'festival' looked very forced.
The ending of the first programme was grim. I didn't expect that.
I stopped watching Eastenders after it last visited Ireland. Real 'pigs in the parlour' stuff.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2017 07:40

I'm a bit surprised they are going to spin this out for 6 weeks.

Chillyegg · 19/05/2017 07:44

I liked it. Kinda had that victorian gothic vibe. If it had stephen fry or benedict cumberbatch or judie dench wed all be going mad. Kat and alfie are caricatures im sure we all know someone or a couple like them. They are also meant to be back from spain

JustDanceAddict · 19/05/2017 08:48

Was a bit 'wtf' - I only saw the last 20 mins but got the gist.

s0dslaw · 19/05/2017 10:34

Hollyisalovelyname I'm from the area and totally agree. Was cringing watching it.

HeyHoThereYouGo657 · 19/05/2017 12:34

I liked it . It was a slow build up though and 6 weeks seems very long , seeing as we know who Kats son is already (us viewers that is).

No surprise he is a bit of a psycho . Kat hardly keeps her temper a lot of the time. Also his Father was her paedo Uncle wasn't it ?

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 19/05/2017 16:12

They said they'd left twins behind because they were too little

Yeah I'm sure they can fend for themselves.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 19/05/2017 16:19

Just watching now I'd put money on Kat and Alfie not being in the original draft and replacing two other characters in order to get commissioned.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2017 17:18

You're right - that's exactly what it looks like!

Akire · 19/05/2017 18:35

The twins must be what 3-4? Who are they supposed to be staying with? Going look great when finding your long lost son... finding out you left another two kids somewhere else.

JustAnotherSilentOldNumber · 19/05/2017 19:17

Who are they supposed to be staying with?

The first person who sprang to my mind was Fat Elvis... Grin

The80sweregreat · 19/05/2017 19:22

Poor twins! Kathleen only found out a few years back from June whitfield that she had another son she knew nothing about, now shes doing her own spin off.
They do look out of place - however, i enjoyed this more than i thought i would!( lots of secrets)

gingercat02 · 19/05/2017 19:37

Just watched it. A bit weird but I think if I can forget it's Kalfie it will be OK. Don't understand why Kat's character has changed so much both in looks and personality. Alfie has always had shades of the aging cowboy Grin

The80sweregreat · 19/05/2017 19:41

Kat has changed. Still, the old boy in it liked her!
Lovely location, less grim than Walford!

MakeItStopNeville · 20/05/2017 00:36

The programme was ok, although I agree it seems like they just switched out two original characters and put in Kat and Alfie.

The one bit I couldn't quite get my head around is why Alfie kept putting on an American accent when he was talking to Tommy. Especially the whole "Buddy" thing.

Akire · 20/05/2017 00:47

I'm not sure exactly how much undercover, sensitive digging, they are planning to do with a 6y old in tow. Hardly going to keep things a secret and blert it out to whoever he mets.

Was hoping more slow story given 7 left not the whole revel of which of 3 dark haired young men it could be in first episode.

Annonymiss123 · 20/05/2017 09:30

The one bit I couldn't quite get my head around is why Alfie kept putting on an American accent

Because Shane Richie is a terrible actor?

The80sweregreat · 20/05/2017 10:22

I loved Shane as loveable Alfie in EE at first - he seemed pleasant enough, blagged a job in the pub ( then went on to run it without any training or , indeed a licence, probably ) was nice to his old Nan and brother and all round a good sort. Of course, this couldnt be the case for ever and soon he became unhappy and mean a liar and an arsonist - now he has a brain tumour! The writers really dont like him either.

buggerthebotox · 20/05/2017 11:32

This is quite good in a weirdly crap sort of way. Nasty vicar was a bit predictable, and scene at the farm between Kat and young bloke absolutely cringeworthy.

How old is she supposed to be, anyway?

I was beginning to fancy LanceBlush.

ForTheMany · 21/05/2017 11:39

I thought this turned out to be unexpectedly good.

Why does Dermot hate orange juice so much? I think it's not 100% that he's Kat's son at the moment. The important thing is that Lance has told him Kat is his mum and Lance is is dead. Which puts Kat in danger. I think there may be another twist yet.
