SPOILER WARNING

Anyone else who is eagerly awaiting the start of the next season and want to chat about predictions and theories for what is going to happen as the Game of Thrones draws to a conclusion over the next two series?

Spoilers inevitable, as it's almost impossible to look forward without looking back at what has happened in the show already. But please mark spoilers about leaks relating to Seasons 7 and 8 in case some pp don't want to see photos and things ahead of the show.

So, who is going to win the Game and who is going to die? Share your thoughts, theories and crazy tinfoil hat suggestions here!

ocelot he did die but someone finished it by writing book 14 I think. I agree, I think of him and urge on GRRM. Also Patrick Rothfuss while we're on the subject.

*They made a mess of Asha Greyjoy.

I don't like their interpretation of Ellaria Sand - they should have just cast someone as Darkstar.*

Oh I adore show Asha! She's one of my favourites even though she wasn't in the books.

I agree with you about Ellaria Sand actually though; I really didn't like what they did regarding Dorne. I would have liked to have seen Arianne.

'Catelyn was probably the only one who he really cared for, and she is long gone.'

So there's no Lady Stoneheart and her followers, slaying Freys?

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 17/05/2017 20:49

So there's no Lady Stoneheart and her followers, slaying Freys?

Not on the show; they've completely bypassed her on it (which I don't mind so much as I never liked Catelyn).

OlennasWimple · 17/05/2017 21:36

WhatToDo - Yara Greyjoy in the show is Asha Greyjoy in the books

The whole Sand Snakes sideshow was a waste of screen time, IMHO

Yara Greyjoy in the show is Asha Greyjoy in the books

I know. I've read all the books so far.

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 17/05/2017 21:43

OlennasWimple Ahh, I see the confusion. When I said "...wasn't in the books", I meant she's a favourite of mine on the show, even though she wasn't a favourite of mine in the books.

user1487175389 · 17/05/2017 21:45

Can we please have a MN Yara fanclub? And maybe a campaign to stop her getting killed off?

29Palms · 18/05/2017 00:54

I wasn't liking the Sand Snakes in the books anyway. Apart from the intriguing one in Oldtown! I wonder if they'll keep her in. Probably not.

ZedWoman · 18/05/2017 06:47

So there's no Lady Stoneheart and her followers, slaying Freys?

Lady Stoneheart never happened in the show. The revenge on the Freys story has gone to Arya, who has taken Wyman Manderly''s place as the baker of interesting Frey Bentos pies.

This means Beric Dondarion is still alive and the BWB have joined up with the Hound (whose redemption arc now seems to consist of killing baddies with an axe and a one-liner instead of a greatsword). It will be interesting to see where that storyline goes....

ZedWoman · 18/05/2017 06:55

I would have liked to have seen Arianne.

Arianne is a great character in the books but if you take out Darkstar, Arys Oakheart and the whole Aegon/fAegon storyline (not to mention Quentyn) there doesn't seem to be much left for her to do. The whole Dorne storyline seems to just have turned into 'Jaime's adventures with Bronn' which were actually much less interesting than Jaime's one-sided conversations with Ilyn Payne.

I am starting to suspect that the whole purpose of Dorne/fAegon in the books is to bring the grey plague to Westeros via Jon Connington. The show have moved that story to Jorah.

OlennasWimple · 18/05/2017 12:10

User - yy to a Yara fanclub - especially if she carries on wearing those leather trousers

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 18/05/2017 12:20

No Lady Stoneheart. Okay, so is there a Jon Connington with grey scale and Daeny's nephew, Aegeon, since there is Jon's vile cousin, Ronnel or whatever the fuck he's called, and a Golden Company?

OlennasWimple · 18/05/2017 12:41

Nope, none of that is in the show, expat. And we only have 13 episodes left, so the accepted fandom wisdom is that they aren't going to be introduced now

Then who's going to be the third dragon rider? I'm pissed off GRRM ditched the books for the telly series.

ZedWoman · 18/05/2017 13:26

I think the 3rd dragon rider will be Tyrion. In TWOIAF there is some precedent for having non-Targaryan dragon riders.

The 3rd dragon rider could be Bran - he will never walk again but he will fly.

I definitely buy into the idea that Aegon was a Blackfire anyway and is the 'mummer's dragon' that was foretold in HOTU.

I think GRRM should be banned from working on Dunk and Egg novellas and spinoff HBO series until he's finished ASOIAF!

expatinscotland · 18/05/2017 13:33

'I think GRRM should be banned from working on Dunk and Egg novellas and spinoff HBO series until he's finished ASOIAF!'

Definitely!!!

29Palms · 18/05/2017 13:40

That whole "Aegon" thing was badly handled anyway. You can't just parachute in such a massively important character at such a late stage, so it's quite obvious he isn't genuine.

I'm glad they ditched the Lady Stoneheart stuff too.

OlennasWimple · 18/05/2017 13:40

Tyrion is probably the obvious show choice, given that they have already shown us that he has something of an affinity with them and he always dreamt of having a dragon ("just a little one") when he was young

I have assumed that Bran's "not walk but fly" thing is his warging, but given that - in the books - he has warged into a wolf and walked already, I am probably wrong on that score.

Maybe Jon is a red herring, and the three dragon heads are Dany, Bran and Tyrion?

QueenoftheAndals · 18/05/2017 13:45

I'm really hoping Cersei isn't killed off this season as losing the fantastic Lena Headey would be a massive blow to the show.

I really struggled with ADWD to be honest; it was my least favourite book of the series. There seemed to be an explosion of new storylines and I just couldn't quite engage with them all or see their relevance to the story. I struggled with all the Windblown/Tattered Prince stuff and both Barristan's and Victarion's chapters left me cold.

I much preferred AFFC which is my favourite book (I know it's an unpopular choice). Septon Meribald's Broken Men speech is just stunning. Pity it got relegated to the Blu-ray special features.

Paffle · 18/05/2017 15:51

Given I have allegedly read the whole series, it speaks bucketloads that I can't remember half of these characters you're discussing now. Think I had limited appetite to take notice of anyone who tried to join in at this late stage. Actually, it is ringing vague bells now but very vague!

29Palms · 18/05/2017 15:56

While I don't like the way they've taken Dorne (shocking waste of Doran Martell), it was crap in the book too. Too many characters, poorly drawn.

iklboo · 18/05/2017 18:59

Frey Bentos pies 😂

OlennasWimple · 23/05/2017 20:43

Ooooh!!!

Short season 7 video teaser just released!!
