SPOILER WARNING

Anyone else who is eagerly awaiting the start of the next season and want to chat about predictions and theories for what is going to happen as the Game of Thrones draws to a conclusion over the next two series?

Spoilers inevitable, as it's almost impossible to look forward without looking back at what has happened in the show already. But please mark spoilers about leaks relating to Seasons 7 and 8 in case some pp don't want to see photos and things ahead of the show.

So, who is going to win the Game and who is going to die? Share your thoughts, theories and crazy tinfoil hat suggestions here!

Oh I love Sansa. She has a good heart; she won't betray Jon.

expatinscotland · 14/05/2017 22:52

Sansa is very young in the books, more so than in the TV series. She was nowhere near Ramsay Bolton in the books. She was in Erie with Littlefinger, who arranged her marriage to Harry the Heir in an attempt to make her the lady of the Erie and Winterfell, although of course he knows she is still legally married to Tyrion.

MyOtherProfile · 14/05/2017 22:52

Whatever happens I just hope someone ends up having a happy ending!

WhatToDoAboutThis2017 · 14/05/2017 23:48

Sansa Yeah, I've read all the books. Sansa is my ultimate favourite character, and I actually prefer her storyline on the show than the one in the books.

Placemarking!

I think Arya's dire wolf is due a reappearance?

Middleoftheroad · 15/05/2017 00:02

Placemarking too. Won't have to worty about watching live at 2am and then getting up for work this time as summer hols yay!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 15/05/2017 01:01

Place marking too

Another Yara fan here Grin

Although I'm a Lannister at heart, Jaime's face when he saw Cersei... I think things are going to get properly nasty between them

Paffle · 15/05/2017 08:34

I've been thinking how amazing it would be write the story of GOT where LF does not betray Ned Stark and Ned wins the showdown in the throne room. I expect it's already been done. Anyone know of anything like this?

OlennasWimple · 15/05/2017 12:10

I'm sure Jaime is going to have to kill Cersei, completing his character arc of redemption

I would love a Tormund - Brienne - Jaime love triangle, but I don't think it will happen

Yara deserves to still be standing at the end of it all (which probably means that she won't)

The only things I'm sure will happen this season is that Gendry will return and a Wight will be captured and taken to Kings Landing.

I know that Dany and Jon will meet near the start, and that Wights and Wight Walkers will feature heavily.

I have a suspicion that Tormund might be the character death.

I also think Euron will play a big part this time.

Paffle · 15/05/2017 14:50

Following on from my pp, would anyone be up for a thread where we rewrite (not literally, just deciding what happens to different characters and where events go) GOT from the point at which the throne room showdown goes in Ned's favour?

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 15/05/2017 15:14

Count me in Grin

OlennasWimple · 15/05/2017 15:25

Paffle - go on then Smile

LEAK ALERT

There have been some leaked photos that show Gendry back (hurray!), on a beach with Davos and Tyrion!

I only care about Sandor Blush and I've seen a photo of him on horseback in the snow (with no hat on so he'll catch his death of cold) so at least I know he's in it but I don't imagine he'll have much of a story line sadly. I'd love it if one of the spin offs could be about the redemption of his character.

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 15/05/2017 16:21

Apparently the four spin offs being commissioned don't include Dunk and Egg or Robert's Rebellion so you never know...

DispatchReady · 15/05/2017 19:04

All six seasons are back on Now TV, so started rewatching season 6 to catch up, although I am really tempted to rewatch the whole thing again! Did that last year and you definitely see things differently with the benefit of knowing who/what/why.

Just watched Hold the Door Sad

Predictions: I think Cersei is definitely a goner, probably by Jaimie’s hands. All remaining Starks will live. The Hound vs the Mountain would be awesome, and I think it might happen purely to satisfy the fans rather than to drive the story. Other than that, I really don’t know how Dany will conquer Westeros etc (although I think she will in the end), but so looking forward to finding out!

Can’t believe Gendry is back from his mega rowing expedition!

Does anyone listen to the History of Westeros podcast? It’s really good!

LiviaDrusillaAugusta · 15/05/2017 19:04

Just started S1 Ep 2 - I have the DVDs

OlennasWimple · 15/05/2017 20:00

Can you link to that podcast please?

I've just started reading the books, after watching the series too many times...

OP posts:
DispatchReady · 15/05/2017 22:28

Olenna sorry I'm on my phone so clueless how to do links but it's called History of Westeros.

Paffle · 16/05/2017 08:39

I'm definitely going to give the alternative storyline a try. Only hindered at the moment by the fact I can't remember where Jaime is at the time of the throne room showdown. Don't think he's in the room. He should be somewhere in KL having killed Jory not long before but otoh he does disappear quite quickly off to join Tywin so not absolutely sure. Obviously if he's in KL he has to be dealt with in the storyline as he's very dangerous to the Stark faction.

GrimDamnFanjo · 16/05/2017 16:20

I have this fantasy where George RR Martin has just been trolling the to producers. When the WoW etc are released its a completely different storyline...

I made a huge mistake and think I've spoiled myself for the next series by reading too many forums.

ZedWoman · 16/05/2017 21:36

I just want to see Littliefinger die.....horribly.....at the hands of Sansa. The whole bit about the maiden 'slaying a savage giant in a snow castle' prophesy just has to come true. There can be only one mocking bird, and that's the pretty little talking bird...

expatinscotland · 16/05/2017 21:48

He's actually not that bad in the books. He does save Sansa's life when Lissa loses is and tries to kill her, and he keeps Marmillion from raping her. And arranges her marriage to Harry the Heir.

Have you read any of the WoW sample

Seven Hells, yes! I should never have looked at Reddit/freefolk. Some of the 'leaks' just look pants. I just keep hoping that they are a 'strategic release' by HBO to explain away some of the outdoor filming locations that coudn't be kept secret.

expatinscotland · 16/05/2017 21:54

I have a fantasy the George RR Martin actually finished the fucking book series before selling out to the TV station and altering his own fucking plotlines to all hell.
