SPOILER WARNING

Anyone else who is eagerly awaiting the start of the next season and want to chat about predictions and theories for what is going to happen as the Game of Thrones draws to a conclusion over the next two series?

Spoilers inevitable, as it's almost impossible to look forward without looking back at what has happened in the show already. But please mark spoilers about leaks relating to Seasons 7 and 8 in case some pp don't want to see photos and things ahead of the show.

So, who is going to win the Game and who is going to die? Share your thoughts, theories and crazy tinfoil hat suggestions here!

How will the alliance between Dany and Dorne go when Tyrion finds out Ellaria killed his niece?

How will the alliance between Dany and Dorne go when Tyrion finds out Ellaria killed his niece?

I'm willing to bet that they won't even mention it.

ZedWoman · 14/07/2017 08:48

I reckon Ellaria will be Gregor-fodder.

notaslimceagirl · 14/07/2017 10:01

Tyrion sent her to Dorne though didn't he?

ZedWoman · 14/07/2017 10:03

Actually, I wonder how Tyrion will react when he finds out one of his new allies (Olenna) conspired to frame him and Sansa for Joffrey's murder.

notaslimceagirl · 14/07/2017 10:05

I wonder whether Sansa and tyrion's marriage will be re-visited? Tyrion is one of the few men who has been kind to Sansa.

What will happen between Arya and the hound when they meet up? He's also one of the few men who's been kind to Sansa.

HaveToBeSure · 14/07/2017 13:50

I have a theory that one of the prophecies, about the mummer's dragon, will relate to something that was in the leaked synopsis (which I do believe btw).

I am a complete deranged super fan but I'm starting to feel let down. Just a read through this thread shows the enormous potential for really clever, well thought out twists and moments that were subtly hinted at long ago suddenly bearing fruit. The last two series' had this too, and I think every fervent theory was wrong (except r+l=J) and not in a good way. What really really pissed me off was the furore over Arya and the waif - there were so many exciting and original ideas, 'supported' by evidence over how their arc would play out, and they made such sense that everyone dismissed the idea of it being as simple as the waif and Arya having a fight and Arya winning - that was just too obvious for the show. And then that's exactly what happened and it was such a let down when you considered all the original ways they could have concluded that arc. But I feel it's starting to get a bit more basic now that GRRM isn't leading the plot.

Also I absolutely loathe Sansa! In the books I actually quite like her but show Sansa always looks like she's about to take to instagram to bitch about getting the wrong colour iPhone for Christmas. I don't think she's developed much at all; she's still a surly, whining monotonous brat. I think it's actually just that I can't stand Sophie Turner actually. If they'd had a different actress I'd probably like her more.

MyOtherProfile · 14/07/2017 13:54

So the premiere has happened already? Do they just watch episode 1? So some people know already what happens then?

notaslimceagirl · 14/07/2017 14:10

I really like Sansa. Initially I wondered what the point of her character was, as she seemed to spend all her time moping about with a face like a slapped arse, but she's my favourite female character now.

OlennasWimple · 14/07/2017 14:26

Yes, the premiere was on Wednesday. I'm avoiding some of the usual sites in case I inadvertently read a proper spoiler about what happens!

I can't see Sansa and Tyrion ending up back together, but there shouldn't be an enmity between them if / when they do meet again

I'm going to stick my neck out and say that I think show Sansa is really badly written.

Benioff and Weiss made a massive 'thing' pre-season 5 about how we were going to see Sansa becoming a 'playuh' and Darth Sansa in the coming season. I heard an interview with Sophie where they told her she was going to have a romance in the next season and she was really excited. Then season 5 happened.........

So now they are stuck with post-rape post-torture Sansa and, surprise, surprise we are all geared up to see another season of Darth Sansa the Mockingbird's Apprentice. It's just not a realistic character arc for someone who has been through her experiences.

Then there was all that rubbish with the Vale knights 'coming to the rescue' to save the northmen during the battle of the bastards. Why didn't Sansa tell Jon about them? The only reason that makes sense is that they were trying to create a sort of 'riders of Rohan' moment of tension when it was so blindingly obvious that the Vale forces were going to turn up that they may as well not have bothered.

I am skeptical that we will see any real character development for her at all. No wonder Sophie has no idea what her character wants...

HaveToBeSure what is your theory about the mummer's dragon? I've always assumed it was fAegon and that he is the son of Ilyrio's Blackfyre wife. I thought all that had been ditched from the show.

I have heard a rumour that Jon's real name is going to be revealed to be Aegon - which is nonsensical. In season 3 they already said that Rhaegar's son killed by Gregor was Aegon. Why would Rhaegar name two of his sons Aegon?

Oh, I've turned very ranty today.

ZedWoman · 14/07/2017 16:17

This interview is just priceless. Nikolaj really needs to get reading glasses.

Missymoomum · 14/07/2017 21:18

Can I join in please? I'm very very new to Game of Thrones having first watched it when it came on to Now TV in May i think it was. I have binge watched all the episodes since then and watched the last one this morning just in time for the new season Smile . I now completely get what all the fuss is about and absolutely love it! Just downloaded the first book this evening to my kindle and going to start reading that tonight, so looking forward to the start of the new series but not happy that I'm going to have to wait a week between each episode!!!

YoureAllABunchOfBastards · 14/07/2017 21:25

I am close to bursting with excitement now. But worried it will all be a massive let down.

AryaUnderfoot · 14/07/2017 21:52

Mayhaps it's ime for an ASOIAF username reboot.

SafetyBird · 14/07/2017 22:34

Missy I downloaded the first book last night too! I'm so hyped!

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 15/07/2017 11:40

TWO DAYS!!! 🎉

Mner · 16/07/2017 07:48

Is anyone staying up for it? I shall have to wait. I am complete lightweight!

Wobblebeans · 16/07/2017 09:02

What time is it on?

DispatchReady · 16/07/2017 13:45

It's on at 2am!

MyOtherProfile · 16/07/2017 14:18

2 am UK time?

MyOtherProfile · 16/07/2017 14:18

If there were guarantees glorious hound scenes I'd stay up but I think that's unlikely.

OlennasWimple · 16/07/2017 14:21

I'm in the Eastern time zone, so i get to watch it at the civilised time of 9pm Smile

Just need to make sure that the kids are properly in bed - I'm relaxed about many parenting things but this is one show that is not suitable for kids at all

BeyondDrinksAndKnowsThings · 16/07/2017 14:51

I might set my alarm, I'm undecided.

It's set to record anyway, so I can watch it first thing tomorrow if I don't wake up.

SafetyBird · 16/07/2017 16:43

What's the policy this year on discussion? Wait until the UK "normal" airing? Or just be smart and stay away from the threads/whole internet until one has watched?
