Some people are talking about the female lead as if she were a real person. It's fiction! The author can make her into who she wants!
Not sure how some posters are working out how old she was when she had her daughter. Sure, the daughter said her mum was '5 years younger when she had her' but we don't know how old the daughter is (do we?) Daughter could be 22, and mum had her at 28....
(unless I've missed something...)
I don't agree with all the lack of body confidence some of you are picking up on. Sure, she said she was a 'jelly baby' but many women say they have wobbly bits, as a fact, not necessarily showing they have low self esteem. (I;ve got wobbly bits, but overall am fairly happy with my body.)
I didn't think the last scene of the rape was terrifying or horrific. Surprising maybe , but not even that if you'd watched the body language of the guy when she was texting.
It wasn't nice but you see worse enacted on Crime Watch. In fact I think they took care to blur out a lot of it and leave it to our imagination.
I think the irony was she was letting herself go into an office alone, drunk, with a colleague who then raped her, whereas earlier she'd gone into a broom cupboard with a complete stranger and had 'hot 'sex.
