I really enjoyed the book so looking forward to this. It's in 4 parts with Emily Watson playing the main character and Ben Chaplin as her lover. BBC1 9pm

I really liked episode 1 until the end. Episode 2 has made me feel uncomfortable. It's like she's being punished for having an affair by being raped, stalked and whatever's happening in the courts. It's not what I thought it would be in this respect.

Enjoyed episode 2 but it was very uncomfortable viewing

I like Mark Bonnar anyway; even more so after reading his wise and considered views. Thanks for the link, Helena.

I enjoyed both episodes apart from the rape scene which was totally unexpected to me and I found very disturbing. To have added to that the claustrophobia of her then being stalked was quite grim. But I'm enjoying the casting and acting and keen to see how it all unfolds.
Does anyone else think they wanted Gillian Anderson for the female role but couldn't get her? She would have been amazing Emily whatsherface is good too, though.

I don't know really, Gillian Anderson might have made the character too classy and confident. Emily (Watson?) makes her more 'ordinary' and slightly unsure of herself.

Yeah between Unforgotten and River which I might have watched all of S1 on Netflix this weekend they seem to be doing a lot of cast swapping 🤔
