Is anyone else eagerly awaiting the arrival of taboo starring my lover the beautiful Mr Hardy on Saturday 7th of jan?

Or do I have him all to myself? Grin

Enjoyed it too, bit creepy tho, love Tom in anything.

Will see how it goes with the creepiness & gore (not keen on either) but otherwise v intriguing.

OneWithTheForce · 14/01/2017 15:55

It's SATURDAY!!

OneWithTheForce · 14/01/2017 21:17

Let the whispering commence!

NoelHeadbands · 14/01/2017 21:23

I'm hoping I can get past the fact that DCI Mike Walker from Trial and Retribution is the manservant Hmm

He's just got such a distinctive voice

NoelHeadbands · 14/01/2017 21:24

Auction clichè

Brontebiscuits · 14/01/2017 21:25

Oh God yes, David Heyman, he's such a wee Weegie. His sideburns look painted on!

Timetogetup0630 · 14/01/2017 22:18

Just watched this on the iPlayer while doing the ironing...with subtitles on !
Dialogue problems solved !
Loved. It. Very Gritty. Don't really know TH ( thought he was a very dirty (as in grubby) Tom Burke for a nanosecond) but I do like a bit of rough.....

OneWithTheForce · 14/01/2017 22:27

I didn't find that episode as enthralling as the first one but good nonetheless.

Who was the actor playing the king? His make up and costume were terrible!! Really badly obviously fake. I'm assuming he was meant to be jaundiced?

Stephen Graham looked really different as atticus. I had to take a second and third look to be sure it was him.

The person James killed at the end, was that a man dressed as a woman or a woman?

OP posts:
NoelHeadbands · 14/01/2017 22:33

It was Mark Gatiss I think (Sherlock's writer and brother Mycroft)

I kept waiting for Atticus to start speaking in a scouse accent- totally opposite to what we were saying about DCI Mike Walker Grin

And I think it was a man dressed as a woman although it was so bloody dark who knows

citykat · 14/01/2017 22:45

I thought it was 'the Malay but was so quick I can't be sure

Ditsyprint40 · 14/01/2017 22:49

Think the king had Porphyria, but agree the make up looked awful!

I am totally hooked. Seriously soft spot for Tom Hardy too...

happypoobum · 14/01/2017 22:49

Yes it was Mark Gatiss playing "Mad" King George and yes I think the Malay was a man dressed as a woman. Will Tom survive his attack?????

What were those brightly coloured shards of (ceramics?) that he was digging up in the boat and throwing around? I got a bit confused....

NotTodaySatan · 14/01/2017 22:55

I loved that episode.

Agree that Gatiss's makeup was crap which is confounding as the smallpox makeup on old man Delaney's lawyer is fabulously done.

Love Stephen Graham and really enjoyed him and TH together.

Don't really enjoy Oona Chaplin in anything, can't quite put my finger on why though.

Love Tom. He broods like no other can. Such a watchable actor.

And I could happily die between those thighs.

OneWithTheForce · 14/01/2017 22:57

Will Tom survive his attack?????

Well there are 6 more episodes to fill so..... Grin

Me too. They looked like goldfish tank pebbles.

I think I've seen her in something else but I can't remember what. Is she an American actress? For some reason I am seeing her speaking with an American accent.

Mmmmm. Yes to this. Muchly.

NotTodaySatan · 14/01/2017 23:05

I only really know her from Game of Thrones and Dates from a few years ago on C4. She was in an ITV thing from years ago (Married, Single, Other) as well which was filmed up here in Leeds.

The actress playing Lorna Bow/Delaney was in that BBC Dorothy Over the Rainbow show! (Which also featured human car crash Stephanie Davies.) She has since trained at RADA and is a very well regarded actor.

notaflyingmonkey · 14/01/2017 23:08

I thought the King was deliberately made to look like a sad old tart - heavy make up and sagging gut, against all that gold and opulance (sounds like someone else...)

OneWithTheForce · 14/01/2017 23:09

Ooh just googled her, she isn't the actress I am thjnkjng of. She is Spanish and she's is Charlie Chaplin's granddaughter!

OP posts:
OneWithTheForce · 14/01/2017 23:11

It's wasn't the sagging gut that was bad it was the fakeness of the gut! It was practically a cushion stuffed up his shirt.

Tom Hardy's dad was involved in the production of taboo. (I've been googling) Grin

The ceramics are probably trade beads from the slave trade Sad

OneWithTheForce · 14/01/2017 23:29

So the slaves were traded for beads? Sad

OP posts:
happypoobum · 15/01/2017 09:29

Aha! I have looked it up - Aggry beads. Glass beads worn by West Africans and believed to have magical powers. They were used by Slave Traders as currency. Sad
