So, amongst the mumbling outside the auction room I lost track of who wanted him dead . Think Atticus said he was in the auction room and came to the dock then what? Did he mean the brother-in-law?

NotTodaySatan Lorna Bow is played by Jessie Buckley she was in the bbc search for Nancy one I'd do anything. Got to the final but didn't get picked which seems to have been a good thing. She has done really well for herself was in War and Peace a while back. She's from Co Kerry in Ireland. She's rumoured to be dating James Norton

Really enjoyed this episode seems to be setting itself up nicely for the series.

I think Tom is adorable I want him so much

I wanted to watch this and like this.

But they mumble. Is it just me? Mumbling seems a perennial feature inane BBC period dramas.

I suppose Iplayer with headphones will be easier to understand, but don't really want to do that, it feels anti social in a way.

I use subtitles because of hearing loss but my husband uses them for quite a few BBC dramas even if I'm not there because of the mumbling.

The mumbling is really^ bad, I agree.

I'm not sure what to think about this, but I gave it a viewing today and thought, okay, I stick with this. It's a bit pretentious, but at the same time I do like all the actors.

It's mumble central but I will put up with it for Tom..God I had no idea how lovely he was until this series. Bad choice of 🎩 but never mind.

I have watched both episodes twice - because I love it/tom hardy... second time I in watched each episode I put subtitles on 🙊

I am going to try ep2 again tomorrow, I love Tom but it's so dark and mumbly. I don't want to have to concentrate that hard.

Might need to try subtitles next time - totally convinced prostitute/pimp woman said 'I want you inside me, that's my only coat'. Rewound and everything but that did seem to be the line. I've a feeling I was wrong, but she was fiddling with his coat collar at the time. Did he nick her coat or something?

Can do, i think I'll rewatch first though as it was 2 nights ago and it's not so fresh in my head, mumbling made it harder to follow too.

Going off topic but Tom Hardy as James Bond. What do we think? He isn't known for playing suave characters but I think he could pull it off (ooh err). He'd have to ditch the beard though.

I would love to see how he did bond because as you say it really isn't his style so it would be a real change from the gruff brooding type. I have to say I think if he could pull off bond he'd have to take a restraining order against me

One me too! He would be way beyond sexy. I was chatting to dh about him playing James Bond last night and trying to be all 'it would be great as it would really stretch him as an actor' etc whilst thinking 'shit, whoever gets to be his Bond girl is a lucky bitch'

Is anyone else struggling with the dialogue between James and Zilpha? I get that it's a taboo relationship and she is fighting her feelings but there is something more coming from him that comes across as basically "you have no choice in this". I'm finding it a bit hard to buy from the James character. I can't put my finger on why.

Maybe that's what we're yet to discover. I suspect there is more to that relationship than we have predicted.
