Random programmes you remember?

After watching worst tv of the 90's on five I was having a quick google of worse tv ever and one show universally panned was one I loved- called 'out of this world' 80's sitcom about a girl whose half alien and another one me and my sister remember but no one else about a ghost haunting a family that had moved into her house after she'd choked on a chicken bone.
What ransoms do you remember?

CaptainCallisto, YES! Just Googled it! I have had the final couple of lines from that theme song stuck in my head for years, and had no idea what it was from! The screenshots don't bring back a lot of memories, but the song definitely does!

CaveMum · 03/12/2016 19:07

Thank you! Grin I knew I wasn't going mad!

CaptainCallisto · 03/12/2016 19:08

The theme tune is about all I could remember! But I used to sing it to people to try and jog their memories and just get blank looks. Maybe it was my singing Grin

DH has just rung, and my ringtone is the theme music from Mysterious Cities of Gold. The number of times people hear my phone ring and go 'ooh! I forgot all about that programme!'

boldlygoingsomewhere · 03/12/2016 19:10

Yoko, thank you! I expect I would be disappointed watching it now. I did buy Raggy Dolls for dd recently and that was still very good.

CaptainCallisto · 03/12/2016 19:13

I don't have the speaking at the start, but the tune is awesome!

I remember the girl from tomorrow and I used to use my bodyshop eyeliner to draw the dots on the side of my face like her. I had brown hair in a similar style and I was convinced someone would run over to me and say 'wow! It's Alana!' But it never happened. Blush

Mistoffelees · 03/12/2016 19:25

I liked At Home with the Braithwaites, think there was only one series but it was good.

OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow · 03/12/2016 19:33

I'm dead old and grew up in Australia, so I grew up with some really whacky shows.
The Samurai introduced ninjas, throwing stars and Japanese culture to us. I had an extendable samurai sword and plastic stars which mysteriously vanished
Then more Japan-Astro Boy and Kimba the white lion, which has an amazing similarity to the Lion King.
Finally Thierry Le Frond, the Kings Outlaw, a kind of French Robin Hood who had a sling shot (wasn't allowed one of them) I was only about 7 or 8, but god I had such a crush.

I came on to say Cities of Gold!

Also, Pole position and that thing with characters called Tbag and Tshirt, does anyone remember what that was?

EverySongbirdSays · 03/12/2016 19:37

There was LOADS of Braithwaites! 4 or 5 series, great show that was

Random as fuck at times.

Fuckery - as you're Aussie do you know one about a single mum foster carer and her charges. Like Berthas babes or similar.

What was the one with the kids on the island - seem to remember it was badly dubbed like the old Heidi.

MrsJayy · 03/12/2016 19:39

I remember the Sullivan's was about an Australian Family in 19 (something) Australia I used to come home at lunch time from primary school and watch it

MrsJayy · 03/12/2016 19:42

Does anybody remember Monkey early 80s Japanese programme badly dubbed and I'm not to sure what was going on but I loved it. Damn the 4 telly channels you watched some crap

SarahJessicaParkersLostCurls · 03/12/2016 19:45

Kizzy! Now that's a blast from the past!

boldlygoingsomewhere · 03/12/2016 19:50

Oh god, Yoko...that was worse than I remember.

Mysterious Cities of Gold theme is epic though.

CupofTeaTime · 03/12/2016 20:00

I was obsessed with My So Called Life in the 90's, had Claire Danes and Jared Leto in, was quite depressing and full of teen angst but I enjoyed it!

Isitjustmeorisiteveryoneelse · 03/12/2016 20:01

Tomorrow People
Pipkins
Bod
Fingerbobs
Potty Time
The Ghosts of Motley Hall
Rentaghost

IsItOnTheTrolley · 03/12/2016 20:02

Loved kizzy, Dd read the Didakoi last year, the programme was based on it.

Not mentioned so far is Murrun Buckstansinger (sp?), he was a little animated potato shaped thing, who wore sandals, nothing else, and lived under the skirting board in the kitchen.

Mid 80's Channel 4. 😀

woodhill · 03/12/2016 20:05

SarahOoo · 03/12/2016 20:07

QuestionableMouse I remember The Last Train, I loved it!

Steala · 03/12/2016 20:08

I remember loads of these. I would love to be able to put my fingers together and stop time like te girl in Out of this World.

I also remember Chocky and A Veey Peculiar Practice.

Bananalanacake · 03/12/2016 20:14

Coasting, Peter Howitt and James Purefoy, just checked it on Google so I'm not imagining it.

Mistoffelees · 03/12/2016 20:16

Was there Everysongbird?! Maybe I'm only remembering the last one? The couple separated and he had to live in one 'wing' of their house and she set up a charity or something. I was probably a bit young to be watching it to be fair.
