Is anyone watching?

At the start dodo? (I'm watching behind broadcast time.)

The sinister stuff happens after their 9 year separation. She finds him in prison and then they move to Rillington Place for their "fresh start" together.

From what I've seen so far he hasn't told the truth about what he was in prison for at the start.

Manumission · 29/11/2016 21:49

Is it just me or does Samantha Morton look like Nadia Sawalha in this?

DodoRevival · 29/11/2016 21:50

Yes at the start. So he was in prison but we don't know why?

I shouldn't be allowed to watch anything more advanced than Balamory

Madbengalmum · 29/11/2016 21:52

Is it really the dog who keeps pissing on the bed?

Anonymum40 · 29/11/2016 21:53

God, who did their wallpaper, its very distracting...

Manumission · 29/11/2016 21:53

Yes. Then flash back to 1940, then (I'm assuming) it has to flash dramatically forward to after the 9 year separation.

I'm getting in to this now.

SinisterBumFacedCat · 29/11/2016 21:54

I'm distracted by the damp walls

Madbengalmum · 29/11/2016 21:55

God that house is grimmer than grim.

Toddlerteaplease · 29/11/2016 21:55

Can't believe how stupid his wife is being. Get out of there woman!

Madbengalmum · 29/11/2016 21:56

Oh its the girl from dr foster, who has the affair with the husband.

BakeOffBiscuits · 29/11/2016 21:57

Oh god she knows what's going on!
Who was the man she stayed with and wanted her to go home with? I missed tha bit.

DodoRevival · 29/11/2016 21:58

Both her and the young man where in My Mad Fat Diary together.

Housewife2010 · 29/11/2016 22:01

Flower Fairview I don't think the film is on. I meant I'm looking forward to seeing this version this weekend - my husband is away during the week and we'll watch it when he's back. (Romantic viewing 😉)

Susiesoap7 · 29/11/2016 22:02

Was looking forward to this, but don't get it! Very slow n distracting.

EnthusiasmDisturbed · 29/11/2016 22:03

I thought it was very good

Tim Roth was extremely creepy and seemed to catch the mood of the time

DigestiveMuncher · 29/11/2016 22:05

I'm watching, haven't seen a film though.
What's it called?
I had to google what it was all about as I didn't have a clue but what a horrible man!!

FlowerFairiee · 29/11/2016 22:08

Digestive the film is just called 10 Rillington Place.

Housewife sorry I thought you meant you were watching the film at the weekend!

I actually thought it was really good and didn't want it to end.

Here is a preview of the film

Davros · 29/11/2016 22:11

It's good. The film is brilliant. There are a lot of similarities but presumably because it's based on truth. It's a very disturbing story but the case was instrumental in the abolition of capital punishment. I think the film was based on the book about the case by Ludovic Kennedy (old gimmers will remember him) and the two influenced the change in the law

Viviennemary · 29/11/2016 22:12

I was half watching it. The first version totally spooked me it was so menacing and creepy. This one just isn't. Maybe it's just as well or else I'd have a nightmare tonight. Grin

NoahVale · 29/11/2016 22:24

yes, she is looking veyr much like nadia swahalla

NoahVale · 29/11/2016 22:24

does the film feature a dodgy abortion?

wideboy26 · 29/11/2016 22:26

I thought it was very slow and at times the speech was so sotto voce we turned the sub titles on. The difference between this and the film pace-wise is that the film was about half the length so this production has more time to develop the tension and tell more of the background story. I thought the state of the house was representative of some London properties of the time. It was war time and shortly afterwards, so there were shortages of everything and the craze for decorating your house had not yet been born. We'll watch the rest of it, but I can't say the first episode was gripping

NoahVale · 29/11/2016 22:27

yes what else has the neighbour been in?

NoahVale · 29/11/2016 22:29

no, it was cast a bit of a downer on the evening
