Is anyone watching?

I did laugh a little bit at ' how do you know what happened ?' Grin

Hes the most famous serial killer of the century. Finding this rather dull though

Dulra · 06/12/2016 21:55

God this is so depressing

PassTheCremeEggs · 06/12/2016 22:03

Chilling. Very well done I think. Struggling to imagine why anyone would want to buy the DVD box set as advertised at the end though!

DigestiveMuncher · 06/12/2016 22:07

I thought the Same, couldn't imagine anyone putting It on their Christmas list.

NoahVale · 06/12/2016 22:07

agree, why would you want to buy the dvd Grin?
bit boring in places but poor poor Tim and his crying baby Sad

Cocolepew · 06/12/2016 22:08

Why did Tim only have a Welsh accent talking to his family?

MistyMinge · 06/12/2016 22:10

I'm guessing when he was in London he was trying to get away from his Welsh boy roots. He was obviously a bit of a fantasist.

DigestiveMuncher · 06/12/2016 22:29

I just think they are missing the most important bits out, nobody likes to watch a murder scene but I think it would add to the suspense if they at least showed snippets like they usually do Confused I don't understand why it's not showing what he's doing to them it is dramatised at the end of the day (don't mean that to sound weird either) Grin

Manumission · 06/12/2016 22:31

I think they're adding suspense to a well known narrative by "showing" us what was known at the time rather than what was pieced together later.

A kind of contemporaneous viewpoint.

DigestiveMuncher · 06/12/2016 22:35

That's a good point manumission not thought of it that way.
I think it's Christies creepiness that makes the whole series (as it should) but he makes my skin crawl as soon as I see him.

Manumission · 06/12/2016 22:46

And of course specifically last week was Ethel's POV, this week Tim's, next week Christie's(?!)

That will be the worst. This is really creepy. Waiting for it all to be known.

DigestiveMuncher · 06/12/2016 23:06

Yes, will definitely be the worst POV!! And the eeriest watching it all come to life and him telling his story. I strangely can't wait.

Manumission · 06/12/2016 23:09

The writers have done well with it haven't they?

FlowerFairiee · 07/12/2016 00:57

I fell asleep half way through, gutted (not through boredom but exhaustion to due moving house). In the film, Timothy Evans had learning difficulties, but this doesn't seem to be the case in this version.

Optimist1 · 07/12/2016 05:56

Agree, Flower - in this one his exaggerations and pretences seem to be his disadvantage.

NoahVale · 07/12/2016 06:33

I thought in the film he just couldnt read

Dulra · 07/12/2016 08:31

Really enjoying it (in a weird sort of way) find the whole thing grim and depressing which really sets the tone. I think the acting is superb. Felt so sorry for Tim last night when he realised what Christie had done to the baby. He really seemed like a lost boy in the big smoke. Was his mum also living in London? couldn't figure that out. I have to admit being Irish I don't know the story but mentioned it to my mum and she knew exactly what I was talking about. Is next weeks the last one? Quite nervous about seeing it all from Christies pov also interested to see how the court case plays out. Christie was obviously committing the murders over a long period of time

Groovee · 07/12/2016 12:44

I've really enjoyed it too. Wonder how next week will be x

Manumission · 07/12/2016 12:47

Yes his Mum lived around the corner Dulra but I think his terrible, inadequate habit of telling tall tales caused a bit of distance between them. And of course abortion was such a taboo and everything around that had to be a secret.

eddiemairswife · 07/12/2016 12:55

Abortion was not only taboo, it was also illegal at the time. I think they have made Timothy Evans too knowing. And I don't think he would have altered his accent to suit the circumstances.

Manumission · 07/12/2016 12:57

I do know people who's accent naturally switches between London and the original/family accent. Do you think it was supposed to be more cynical than that in this version?

Manumission · 07/12/2016 13:01

whose

eddiemairswife · 07/12/2016 13:35

Actually I've just looked him up, and he did change his accent. He moved to London aged 11 and adopted a London accent in order to fit in, but reverted to his Welsh accent when visiting Wales.

TheHiphopopotamus · 07/12/2016 18:19

I do know people who's accent naturally switches between London and the original/family accent

See the pop singer Lulu for a good example of this Wink

Really enjoying this (if enjoying is the word), Tim Roth is excellent in it, as is Samantha Morton.

LineyReborn · 07/12/2016 18:53

Bloody hell my accent switches within five seconds of being on the phone to ' home'.
