OMG 😲 Ice! I have always thought that there was some chemistry between CJ and Georgie! However I could not contemplate him leaving Molly. My heart would break. If TG reads this thread his head must be spinning, mine is!
Mind you, he could take on some of the suggestions especially around PTSD.
Surely CJ would be MJ by now?
He could even move over to Millitary Intelligence?
There seems to be some secrecy around who is in S3. I would have thought we would know a little by now.
I did read somewhere that Mummy Lane had signed up. Shock please bring back the Dawes family!.
Sad day here in Christchurch as we remember the earthquake 6 years ago and the people that lost their lives.
Christchurch is still being rebuilt. I am totally lost when I go into town as there are very few road signs. However the new buildings are spectacular.
Take care everyone xxx

icemistOBE · 22/02/2017 06:55

I'll find a picture that shows it Trish.

Can't believe it's 6 years ago! NZ been having a rough time lately as well.

Yes lots of secrecy around cast. When I was chatting one of them in October he said they only signed officially about 4 weeks before they started filming. And we have no filming start date yet - only mention had been MK doing training in Nepal, which is random as they've done training in UK every other time....

Thanks 🙏🏻 Ice. It will be Molly all
the way for me. I found LT to be so genuine. I also read about training in Nepal 🇳🇵 but then read that they were off to South Africa again? Who knows? Either way I hope that BA ( if he is on it) has a far better role than last time!
Yes, Christchurch has had its share of disasters, the recent fires have been devastating. So many properties lost. People are now looking for lost pets. I find that difficult to cope with😔
Rhu I loved your latest update, I have read it several times. Night everyone xx

kazzaD66 · 22/02/2017 07:33

Controversial dance. As much as I would love to see CJ back and, like everyone else, with a much bigger role, I wouldn't buy it if he and Molly had split. The only way round it would be if she was dead (and I wouldn't want that) and CJ was trying to find love again. And the only girl he could find that with that would give him a bigger role would be Georgie, as the lead character, and I wouldn't buy that either. Unfortunately, the show is called Our Girl, not Our Guy Hmm

Rhubarb01 · 22/02/2017 07:33

Morning/Evening Trish. Thanks for the kind words about the chapter. I'm just working on the last bit of the story hopefully it will appear in a few more days if I get my act together.

NZ certainly has had it's share of natural disasters not least the recent fires. There must be difficult memories for many people. However, I understand that there are lots of Americans interested in moving there and who can blame theme because it is so beautiful and such a long way from America.

As for Georgie and CJ - yes they make a fine looking couple and as we well know "He likes a medic." I reckon it's an authority thing. After all, Molly and Georgie are the nearest thing to a man in a white coat when they are on deployment and when there's a casualty they are definitely in charge of the situation ordering everyone about. It must make a change for someone like CJ to have to let someone else take over and make the decisions! That said, I don't think TG would risk putting them together. I reckon they could have a fairly close friendship because of shared issues not least PTSD which could cause friction or make others gossip about them but, as much as looking back on it the MD/CJ pairing was a bit of romantic fairytale which we all loved ,I don't think long-term the series 1 fans or series 2 fans would be happy if they paired up - imagine total anarchy!

icemistOBE · 22/02/2017 07:48

Would certainly be controversial and I honestly don't think it would happen.

Absolutely agree Rhu. It will be very interesting to see what TG comes up with.
I have a friend who is American, and she has just renounced her US passport in favour of an NZ one. Her bothers and sisters still love in the states. Up until recently they sent her funny articles about the new establishment via social media. That has stopped now as they feel it could turn rather nasty for them.
Sad times.

SoEverybodyDance · 22/02/2017 10:23

Tee hee... now we're talking...

Thing is, originally the show was all about Lacey Turner and in the beginning I couldn't have imagined someone else taking it over. But things change, situations alter, cast members drop out and stories have to adapt - and should do - otherwise it would be the same old boring repetition of people, situations and themes. None of us knows what's in store for the next OG and I hope there are plenty of surprises. It's a challenge to write a script that can adapt to all these changes and still produce something that people love.

I could see a scenario where Molly Dawes gets killed in action in the first episode of OG3. MK could have the starring role trying to save her... something real for her to get her teeth into. That week there could be lots of online discussion about women in war zones, we'd all be up in arms, engaged again... Episode two: The funeral. It would be a drama of course... Two section could have an all night vigil reminiscing. On the day there's Dave Dawes, drunk and incapable, there's TG's daughter, the epitome of tragic teenage rebellion, there's Sharon launching an onion-soup fuelled, one-woman, camper-van protest in the car park and there's CJ holding it in, brooding and mournful. And next week everyone moves forward with MK's story... A year down the line, around episode 5, say, CJ re-emerges (from the shower of course!) removes his winged sandals and voila!

I'm not convinced by a relationship between CJ and GL, though Trish she's a bit too compliant and plastic for me. He definitely needs someone to prick that balloon of middle class assurance just like Dawes did...

Also if the setting for OG3 is Nepal, then Lacey Turner might be persuaded to shoot up in North Wales which is sometimes used as a Himalayan location...

Rhubarb01 · 22/02/2017 13:55

Oh Dance you are a little stirrer! Grin

What's making me laugh is the thought of TG reading this and furiously taking a red pen to his script, crossing it out and muttering, "Drat, drat, drat!" or words to that effect - mind you didn't Conan-Doyle throw Sherlock Holmes over the Reichenbach Falls because he was fed up with him? Watch out Molly!!!!

Seriously, I'd rather not see CJ in the series at all than have Molly killed off so he could go off in search of love or anything else (think JenMc) with a clear conscience. If he's back I think he'll just be a more senior officer and say the right things at the right time. Maybe... there will be a new' platoon commander for him to take under his manly, wing which probably ought to be a Lieutenant rather than a Captain and Lieutenant Newbody could be a potential love interest for GL if Elvis has disappeared off the scene i.e. doesn't sign up for OG3.

I expect I'm talking out of my nether regions here but even if BA returned just for a smaller role it would a chance to be in something on prime time TV and the more profile someone has the more they are likely to be offered. Just a thought!

SoEverybodyDance · 22/02/2017 14:25

Indeed, Rhubarb I have quite enjoyed being evil with my spoon this morning! Wink

I love the Conan Doyle / Sherlock Holmes reminder. What better way of rewarding someone who dissed a part you created for them? Your post also reminded me of Joey in Friends when he 'fell' down the elevator shaft on Days of our Lives after telling a journalist he 'rewrote' some of his lines!

It's so funny when we all have such different views about what CJ should do! I have it in mind to set up a poll (probably on FB) canvassing everyone's ideas on what should take place/happen in OG3. That would be quite fun actually!

kuiakaituhi · 22/02/2017 14:29

Hi, all. Have been dealing with the aftermath of a personal loss that pretty much kicked the knees out from under me.
Glad to see we are in the news in the northern hemisphere. I shudder when I think of the Americans lining up to buy up the country! They own quite a bit of it already. My father, who was a prisoner of war of the Japanese in WW2 used to be quite cutting about the American soldiers who came here for R&R and impressed the ladies with their chocolates, nylon stockings and flattery. The common saying was 'Over paid, over sexed and over here.' My mother, on the other hand loved them ! Said she never had so much fun as a teenager.Today would have been her birthday, so I'll always associate the earthquake with my memories of her.
Christchurch people are amazing. Last night there was a huge Bruce Springsteen concert with all his "My Home Town" and "Rise Up" kind of music. Today's memorial ceremony was exceptionally moving, then the city, which is the most sports-mad part of this whole sports-mad country, hosted a one day cricket match against the South Africans and nearly 20, 000 people turned out. I think lots of them wagged work or school. The Black Caps gave ChCh, and the rest of us, something to lighten the mood by winning, which was a real surprise!.
One of the saddest stories has been the death in a helicopter accident of a SAS veteran who was decorated for bravery in Afghanistan. He had been helping to fight the fires and crashed. The funeral could not be televised in any detail because there were fears for the safety of his mates, still serving in the army. Had two little kids and a very distressed wife. Heart-wrenching!
For all of you new enthusiasts for the theatre, we have something really special going on here. For the second year in a row, our "Pop-Up Globe" has been erected in Auckland and four full Shakespeare plays are being produced over the next three months. It is a replica of the second Globe theatre in England and all the costumes, weapons, etc have been made as replicas as well. I am going to a couple of the plays, particularly Othello and AS You Like It and I gather some performances are booked out already. If you're interested, have a look on the internet. I think it's something we can be really proud of
Am just drawing my last ff to a close. After that, I think that's my lot. Haven't been posting here, but have been checking in from time to time.
Kia ora, tatou!!

kuiakaituhi · 22/02/2017 14:37

Perhaps our intrepid Captain could come here and join the cast of "Henry V" at the Pop-Up Globe. Lots of shouty, hands on hips, superior officer parts, fighting, swords and bossing around available! Would be great experience for him, lots of international actors already. They've had hundreds of auditions.
We'd send him back to Blighty. Eventually...

pixieg1rl · 22/02/2017 22:13

You cheeky little stirrer so dance. Hopefully TG wouldn't dare even entertain the notion of killing off Molly or CJ for fear of being tracked down by disgruntled hormonal women. He'd have to go into witness protection

Ilovelblue · 22/02/2017 22:45

Evening all. Bogged down with pensions and tax implications and the like tonight so need this thread for light relief. I'll need a few months off after all this....

Dance well, haven't you thrown the cat amongst the pigeons. You've certainly perked this thread up. pixie made me laugh thinking of disgruntled hormonal women going after TG issuing death threats.

TG should certainly have a few script ideas reading our threads.

Also pixie nothing to do with OG but did your hellebore seedlings come on ok after I sent some to you last year?

Wycombe123 · 22/02/2017 22:53

Yes alwaysfrank hotfoot it to the theatre as soon as the doors open at 7pm to avoid any unseemly scuffles to get the best seats!! Hopefully you might see BA in the bar afterwards if you are lucky Smile

Alwaysfrank · 23/02/2017 08:33

Thanks Wycombe! I have visions of the doors opening and having to rugby tackle scores of middle aged women to get to the favoured seat! Only one more sleep to go now, very excited!

kazzaD66 · 23/02/2017 13:02

Well, there's a nice surprise to brighten up a very very windy lunchtime. Just flicking through the latest Waitrose Weekend paper and who should be staring out of page 10 at me but the very very good looking BAGrin Hope no one gets blown away by Storm Doris (just Storm Ben Blush)

pixieg1rl · 23/02/2017 13:27

Ooh, Kazza what's the photo?

kazzaD66 · 23/02/2017 14:50

Just the one from Fleabag with BA, Olivia Coleman and P W-B at the art exhibition, but it is a particularly lovely one of him pix

pixieg1rl · 24/02/2017 07:47

The Hellebores are putting out new growth ilove. Do you think they need to stay in pots for the summer and plant them out in the autumn?

The garden is a mess, I haven't been out for months. Yesterday's storm has added a layer of twigs over much of the garden, I really should try and clear up a bit, unfortunately I'm fully booked all weekend

Ilovelblue · 24/02/2017 08:40

pixie I reckon you could plant them out to establish themselves so long as you can kerp an eye on them and they won't get smothered with other foliage when things start growing again in a few weeks. They were self seeded anyway so must be fairly sturdy?

Ilovelblue · 24/02/2017 08:41

keep

Rhubarb01 · 24/02/2017 22:13

Evening, nothing much to report but I could see that this thread was a long way down the first page and I couldn't bear the thought of us dropping off the first page for what would be the very first time in two and and a half years. Talking of which, we have nearly reached the end of this thread and it has to be the longest lasting one we've ever had - four months!!! Mind you, it's not really our fault is it - we need some news from OG HQ.

I hope you're all having a good start to the weekend. I've not much planned apart from attending a quiz evening tomorrow night with DH and eldest DD - this is dangerous ground as the last time DD and I ended up almost not on speaking terms. She has agreed not to argue this time - to be honest I like questions that you either definitely know or definitely don't know. It's the inbetween ones that cause the problems - you know the scenario "I told you it was blahh but you wouldn't listen!" Let's hope we can avoid the wooden spoon!

P.S. went into Waitrose and picked up a copy of the Weekend magazine - yes that's a nice pic but it amused me that there are three people in the photo but they only mentioned Phoebe W-B and Olivia Colman - poor BA might not have been there at all, except for our delectation.
