Oh ice that sounds awful. I was watching but turned over when they gave the warning out. I can't bear sad animal stuff. I don't even like it when they discuss beef farming!

Watching CTM now. I expect I'll cry at some point.

icemistOBE · 19/02/2017 20:16

He's watching that with me now rhu but think I've just about convinced him to go to bed

Already had to dab my eyes over the lad with Down's syndrome.

Handsome dentist showing interest in Trixie!

Ilovelblue · 19/02/2017 20:24

I'm on CTM too and nearly always cry. I'm glad I didn't see Countryfile this week.

Ilovelblue · 19/02/2017 20:26

Yes, I don't think the Downs story will be a bundle of laugh.

And yes, the dentist has his eye on Trixie. He does have a look of the curate - do you think so?

icemistOBE · 19/02/2017 20:50

He does look like the curate! Not liking the mental hospital it's horrific

ice my Mum worked in a mental hospital in the late 1940s. Some of the stories she used to tell me when I was a child scared the hell out of me.

Rhubarb01 · 19/02/2017 20:57

Yes it's happy tears tonight apart from poor old Sister Mary Cynthia - gosh she's having a terrible time.

icemistOBE · 19/02/2017 20:59

I can only imagine ilove

No tears this week!

I think I just spotted RR in a new drama trailer!

Ilovelblue · 19/02/2017 21:03

Yes Rhu he's one of pixie's favourites. Wouldn't say no myself to be honest. That new series looks promising.

That matron or whoever she was in the mental hospital looked a complete battleaxe and utterly devoid of any sympathy and understanding.

icemistOBE · 19/02/2017 21:52

What is with all the mumbling? I've had to turn sound up!

If you're talking about SS-GB ice I turned on the subtitles after about three minutes, I find it works for me. Otherwise, quite a lot to get my head round. I actually found it quite a scary vision of how it might have been. I've been posting on threads left, right and centre this evening but there was quite a bit of grumbling about Sam Riley's voice - not sure if he normally speaks like that. I reckon it must be as I recall that he was a bit gravelly in Suite Francaise.

Ilovelblue · 19/02/2017 22:11

You two are braver than I was - I gave up totally after about 5 minutes and decided to watch episode 2 of OG2!

Rhubarb01 · 19/02/2017 22:17

ilove I think I might download the book and read it before next week's episode as there was definitely a lot of material in it to digest and I didn't take it all in on first watching.

Richtea19 · 19/02/2017 22:23

I didn't watch CTM as we had a late dinner, i spent all day in the garden again, which ended up with a big bonfire.

My sister works at the Bethlam Hospital, which was known as Bedlam, plenty of history on the hospital site and really fascinating but quite sad history.

We watched SSGB and i had to turn up the volume too, first few minutes I found hard but I think I'm with it now.

kazzaD66 · 19/02/2017 22:27

I couldn't hear half of what was being said. Thank goodness for the German / English subtitles, so at least I got some of the dialogue! Sam Riley sounded like he had an extremely bad case of laryngitis and then the rest of the cast obviously caught it aswell. DH said he'd read the book years ago and didn't remember it being this convaluted.

Epic fail on trying to get a photo of BA on stage last night - he exited stage left pretty smartish so will have to imagine him there! Most unusual set up - a bar on the ground floor and the tiny theatre above. BA was brilliant and mesmerising on stage. Luckily we had good intel, thanks MN ladies, we had excellent seats, literally inches from the action. We had a very brief chat to BA in the bar afterwards and my husband appears now to be a fan - who would have thought it!

Glad you had good evening wycombe. It sounds like a very intimate theatre-going experience. Nice that you had a chance to talk to BA as well.

Ilovelblue · 20/02/2017 08:18

Hi wycombe. Does your DH know your dark secret now? Or had you already come clean?

Alwaysfrank · 20/02/2017 08:51

I'm getting very excited about my trip later this week - can you share the intel, Wycombe? Where do I need to sit?!

pixieg1rl · 20/02/2017 08:58

Glad you enjoyed the seats, Wycombe and that they had dried out in time. It's a very intense performance, he's absolutely wasted on a bit part on OG.

Good work on getting to talk to him after, poor lad must me done in after 2 performances a day.

I enjoyed SS-GB, although I think I might need a second watch of it as I was tidying Lego away and not giving it my full attention. I had to turn the subtitles on as well, the washing machine was on and it has a really noisy spin even through closed doors.

icemistOBE · 20/02/2017 10:49

SS-GB - I think he speaks like that normally as he was on the one show, but it was rather distracting from the story line. I think I need to watch it again as it didn't sink in really.

So glad you got to meet BA Wycombe he truly is a very genuine lovely man. hope your hubby took a photo of you with him!

He's had huge praise for this role. I hope it leads to other roles for him too.

He always speaks very highly of OG and loves playing CJ I hope he does have a role in the new series and he takes it.

Ken Bruce on Radio 2 complained about the sound quality from SS GB and said thank goodness for subtitles!
