DS went to the remembrance service at the squadron today for a parade and chapel service. I didn't go this year but has the Tv on, so very moving.

I've not got into SCD at all, I always miss it as its a bed time. Going to watch that My Mum and Other Strangers (is that what it's called) that's on tonight, which had the OG music. Hope that'll be good, there isn't much on at the moment that I've got into.

Nickel did you watch the one on BBC2 on Thursday evening which Rhu mentioned? I watched that at lunchtime today whilst eating. It's quite good.

You're right though, there isn't much on at the moment. I started watching the second series of Ordinary Lies but having dozed off through two of them, I don't suppose it can be all that good this time. I used to like The Apprentice but just can't get into it this series and when the women start bitching and screaming at each other, I just want to switch it off!

I've started watching the apprentice again, but they are all really annoying again. Background noise really, while I'm doing other things.

Thanks for the individual messages some of you have sent concerning the earthquake(s) in NZ. It turns out there were 2 major quakes with several big aftershocks. It was very scary. I live in the middle of the North Island. Most of the impact was in the South and in Wellington, but the shakes went on for ages even here.
My family and friends are OK, others are not so lucky particularly those around the Christchurch area. One of the hardest hit is Kaikoura, a beautiful coastal town which specialises in taking visitors out into the coastal waters to get up close and personal with pods of whales. The town and the roads around it have been totally trashed. Lots of damage all over the place.Two people reported killed, hope there are no more.
Here in the Shaky Isles we get a bit ho-hum about earthquakes unless they are the magnitude of the Christchurch ones of a few years back.

Good evening ladies from a very shaken Christchurch here in NZ. Huge quake, 7.3 woken up by the house rocking and rolling. After having lost our house the February quake 5 years ago i was praying that history was not about to repeat its self.
I really feel for those in Kaikoura, which has been cut off from both sides. CD are trying to get supplies in by helicopter as the roads have collapsed.
My daughter in Wellington was unable to go to work due to the CBD being closed.
The aftershocks have been just constant.
The heart has been racing a few times since midnight. Definitely not a Ho Hum quake.

kuia and Trish so glad you're both ok but that sounds so scary - it's hard to imagine (apart from a simulator at the Natural History Museum in London - not the same thing at all). We really don't know how fortunate we are in the UK (a mild isolated tremor once in a blue moon!). Hope it all settles down soon. Keep safe.

I heard a news item on the radio in the middle of all the earthquake stuff that enquiries from USA citizens about emigrating to New Zealand reached an all time high in the past few days,
There are lots of blue people swinging through the trees on James Cameron's farm as he makes 2 sequels to "Avatar", multi million dollar export from the States, lots of other bright creative rich Yanks pulling out their tent pegs and heading down here.

I have mixed feelings about it. Seems if there's a choice to be made, earthquakes win, the US of A is Trumped

Are any of you other Catholics, lapsed, lapsing or otherwise, watching "The Young Pope?" Jude Law as Pius XIII is riveting. it connects very profoundly with my cynicism and scorn for so many of the so called leaders of the Church. Had some bad experiences as a youngster
I sit here spellbound by his performance, find myself nodding in agreement when he sets about foiling the attempts of the crooked cardinals to unseat him and even talking to him as if he's in the room. Remarkable actor!!

I'm not catholic Kuia (I'm not anything now, but brought up CofE), and I'm afraid I've watched far too much Father Ted so anything in that ilk always gets thought of as their depiction of the Vatican.

I did see some trailers and Jude whatsit was on Graham Norton doing some promotion for it.

Did anyone watch the post WW2 Poliakof drama last Thursday or the WW2 thing on BBC1 last night (can't remember the name of either of them)? Got them both recorded but have seen mixed reviews for both, so any views gratefully received
